- In this video I show you how to kill an Oscar (GodFrey, The First Elden Lord). He can be pretty tricky, especially for someone new to the souls series, so I thought I'd continue my guide series and do a video on him. I've gotten a lot more support on my last 2 guides than I expected, so I will be continuing this series as I continue to play through the game. When I try this strat he just pulls out a 10 swing combo everytime
same and its always roll away from 1 attack and the rest is un-dodgable.
Also the pole or handle for the axe does hit you.
Don’t forget how his combos change every try.

I'm on this boss now, been a few tries, only got him down to 1/4 th of his health once. Just shunt down the game, will hopefully try tomorrow 😂

@@stfuitsjuan7119 one hit a time, dodge the combos, then one or two hits when he finishes his combos, it's not hard, it's just that on 45 dex it still takes a bit of person's sanity doing this shit for a few minutes and if you get greedy, say goodbye to your healthbar

If you have a faith/Intel build you can also just use that large room to your advantage if you want to far cast and occasionally dodge his attacks. Just have to watch out for the throwing axe.. I noticed he does it most often when you consume flasks.
facts also use lightning and stab damage he’s weak to it

I found an easier way to defeat Godfrey. I have found that his attacks come from your actions. As long as you are away from him and you do nothing he will just walk towards you. He strikes you when you are close to him and the dash towards you when you cast a spell and/or drink a potion at him. And he also has an attack where he jumps and throws his ax at you, and it was with that attack that I beat him. To get him to do that attack you simply run at him and he will use that attack. To dodge it you just have to not stop and keep running straight. After dodging him Godfrey will make a leap to get his ax back, and that's the time to hit him. You must do this while he is completing the action. So he won't react to your actions and he won't snap at you (same thing when it comes to drinking a potion to heal you or recharge your magic). I resorting to this strategy, which I devised by myself and I haven't seen video tutorials about it, I beat him without getting hit even once using the meteorite staff and the rock sling spell. And these things I understood by myself fighting against him. It didn't tell me anyone.
after getting destroyed through my rolls i tried this method and after 20 minutes or so i killed him. this paired with the bloody slash helped a lot

Honestly, this boss (and some others) have changed since these vids came out. He is not slow, nor does he have only 2 moves, nor are you 'safer' close up. This guy is now impossible!!!

I was struggling for about an hour until i finally kill him.. Im a melee samurai with a bleed build and what made me kill him was to literally learn the moves as explained in the video + every time I was under 30% of my life went to the opposite hall, heal me and go back again. Good luck to everyone struggeling! It can be done but waith patience.

I've never equipped a shield until this point in the game and that alone made a world of difference and was able to beat him, thank you for reminding me those are a thing 😂 🛡
If you use shields, use the magic barrier shield weapon art and you can block all of his attacks without losing any stamina.
This works on most enemies and bosses in the game. With the exception on elemental damage or status effects like bleed.

The way i did this fight was to summon my 2 soldier ashes +8 so they keep agro for most, and then time bloody slash weapon art to deal alot of dmg to him. It dealt 769-1197 or so per hit, depending on what part of him you manage to hit. And ofc be ready for his charge and aoe swing shit, and try and choose timing better to end him super fast. :)
i beat him with good old fashion melle and dodge lol, must admit it took me quite a few tries lmao

I was having issues with this boss for a solid WEEK!!! I finally beat him today and my best tip is to go and get NIGHT COMMET. Charge it and fire from the other end of the room does massive damage. Beat him first go with it. Goodluck fam
if you use greatshield soldier ashes he gets distracted by them the whole time, and you can spam spells or heavy attacks.
I love the detail in this boss that because this Godfrey is an apparition summoned by Morgott, you don’t hear him talking when he defeats you, rather Morgott laughing.

His fighting style has changed since this video and he has close to no openings

@@F4T3_2 i killed him at level 74 I just cheesed the shit out of him and ran a strength dexterity build and used wolf summons to help get him to his second stage
Honestly, this was my favorite fight thus far because it was the fairest fight out of all the other bosses beforehand.

This fight was trivial on my lightning dex/faith build. Thunderbolt ashes of war melted him in seconds. Seems to be weak against lightning.

by fighting him a little one thing i noticed was if u have a long weapon like a halberd just keep running away and wait till he throws his thing and when he does dodge forward and punish it. I still havent beaten him yet but i think this strat will probably help me enough to beat him. edit: just went and defeated him next try as soon as i noticed this strat. Gl my fellow tarnished!

With my confessor build and lone wolf spirit ashes I took him down on my second try

Perhaps some update occurred recently, hence it was the easiest boss so far. I had 81 level prohpet with special weapon +5. I summoned headless luthiel +2 and beated him after couple of attempts. Use the shield +100% physical block to avoid dmg. Good luck.

Having a light carry load makes this 20x easier since you can completely roll out of the rocks

thanks so much i knew i was being to greedy with my hits and i was getting to close to heal that he hit me the the big hit and the ash of war really helps coming from a bleed build
What ash of war did u use I got three wolves but it’s not good
Shield is kinda useless since he always does a seemingly 10-15 move combo and your poise breaks after blocking like 2 strikes
For me his fkn impossible. no matter what i do i get smacked in the face. i roll out of 1 attack but unable to get away from the next and proceeds to get stunlocked.
Shield men definitely saved my life. That with firing arrows. They just held him in the corner while I opened fire. Easy day
feels like bloodhound's fang is like a cheatcode, with just mimic tear ashe and bloodhound +6 i was able to defeat godfrey 1st try before watching this.

Yeah, totally different boss now. He stunlocks you with 6 hit combos. He’s impossible now without 60 vig and beefy summons.
This boss literally had my heart rate up bad! But 3rd try I beat him with a single hit bar left!

I kid you not i am a very new souls game player and i beat godfrey first try
I used uchigatana in both hands and used mimic tear level 6 and i am level 119 with 38 vigor, 20 mind, 27 endurance, 38 strength, 24 dex, 15 intelligence, 25 faith ( for flame grant me strength and golden vow) and 11 arcane
New to all this too and I beat him first try acouple mins, the arcane builds are crazy lol

I lost once, started watching this video, got bored after a minute and a half, went back and beat him first try. If you’re struggling look at where his hands are (above his shoulders, in front of his shoulders etc) and you can tell where he’s gonna swing.

I had my summon distract him while I ran in bloody slash then. Ran away again. Haha don’t judge my weakness
Accidentally came across him at lvl 86. Brought out the mimic and shot him to death with lightning spears, first try without breaking a sweat. Kind of anticlimactic.

Look at map!!! There is a big three and From there you Go Right to the end of the wall from City. If you Look close at the map it almost looks like a small bridge
Kill the Draconic Tree Sentinel after you get access to the lift that starts with a D ( I forgot the name) from there you’ll find it naturally exploring the city. Also for the sentinel an easy way to cheese it is get the rot dog summon and let it hit him 6 times without dying then u run away

Finally a tips and tricks video and not a cheese tutorial took forever to find some thing that helped me do it myself
need 4 or 5 tries! it can be done! i am not very cooridnated in my fight! so i was trying to be close to him and just went a bit away for healing and ive used the âshes of thos shield soldiers! or any other tanky ash will do i guess!
Yeah all fine and dandy until you find out that he has attacks that dont matter how fast you go around him or how much you dodge and roll he will still hit you!

Some boss fights in this game aren’t hard at all their just unfucking fair like his attacks can’t be dodged, his AI literally reads your every move when you try to heal he throws his axe and one shots you and you can’t combo him the only way to beat him is by running back and forth trying to hit him before he swings at you or by using the Mimic tear with a mage build

Guys any tips cuz im playing vagabond and am very slow with the rolls tho i hit a lot of damage.. should i keep this strategy or unequip my load until i can roll faster?
I advise you always keep your rolling to medium load, not heavy load. I recommend farming souls and putting points into stamina/equipload and coming back. You can take off some of your armor now, but you'll die faster, and the boss right after this is MUCH harder. You'll need that medium roll more than ever
@@ChronicleJoe thanks for the advice! Also a friend of mine told me that there is an item which gives you faster rolling even if you are with heavy load. Do you know anything about it?
