Just upgraded to the A74 and was getting annoyed by having to open premiere every time I want to see a clip until I searched for this. You're the best Matt!
For anyone having troubles finding the right file to download, those bunch of numbers mean something. Look for mpv-x86_64-v3 where x86 is your processor type (intel or amd) and 64 stands for 64bit which refers to the OS (windows). That is probably what you will need. The rest of the numbers represent version, higher should be better. The other files are for other processors and OS architectures.

Thanks for turotial. Works like a charm. To play in VLC, i have tried these settings and it works as well: In VLC Media Player: 1. Tools - Preferences - Input/Codecs - change "hardware-accelerated decoding to DISABLE" 2. Tools - Preferences - video - change "output to OpenGL Video Output"
This video saved me! Got the A7s iii and this was driving me nuts. Fellow RUclipsr here... last question, how in the world do I prevent my camera from making multiple files for every clip? It is making an extracted audio file, as well as an XLM document for every clip after the MP4. Any help would be amazing if you knew how to just have it make the solo mp4 file. Thanks man!
Not sure about that extracted audio file, but the XLM document you’re referring to contains clip metadata that can be read by sony’s catalyst browse software
And if I don't want to use Sony's Catalyst Browse software? What is the answer to his question. I would also like to get rid of XLM files (I do not use catalyst browse)@@whoismatt

OMG Dude.. I am searching this thing for 5days. I also corrupt my windows 10 once for this reason by trying other methods and softwares. But finally this one is worked perfectly. Thanks a lot. One more thing if you wanna choose any different media player please don't go for mpv player, it's not so convenient for me. You can go for kmplayer, gom player. These can easily plays the 10-bit files.

Solution: its not called “stable” anymore. It is now named “release” Click on the “release” folder and you can either download the newest version at the top or scroll down and download the same version that he downloaded on screen 👍 worked for me

You are a life saver! I was struggling with thumbnail issue very badly. I used to convert all the videos using Da vinci resolve so it shows thumbnail. Thank you soo much❤ Love from India

thank you because the issue that I kept having was ever since obs came out with the fragmented MP4. VLC didn't really like that when you would scan through to have gray blurry mess and look like the video had a problem with it

ohhh my gosh, after over a year I still couldn't see video previews on VLC. I only needed the second half of your video , THANK YOU SO MUCH ! When I opened folder....BOOM. all the thumbnails. What a difference.
Dude you're the best man. I got the Canon R5 and anytime I shoot b-roll pretty much for the last I don't know 4 years there are no thumbnails so it takes me hours and sometimes days just to name everything

Amazing tip on the software for thumbnails, VLC will play some 10 bit files and generate non vlog 1080P thumbnails... In VLC all you have to do is disable hardware decoding and go to VIDEO>Output to OpenGL and then VLC plays them all without that MVP software. Hope this helps.. Still need Icaros tho.. Will donate.

This was a massive help. I've been able to play 10 bit videos with POT player for years but couldn't figure out thumbnails. Now life's perfect.

First I clicked "Windows builds by shinchiro (git)"
then "mpv-x86_64-20241021-git-ca7006a"
