When I clicked on this ridiculous video I wondered what kind of person would bad mouth people just for views. And then your picture came up. Explains a lot. Jimmy Fallon is one of the most talented, funny, charismatic entertainers in the business today. I can't comprehend taking the time to pull other people down but then again that saying "Hurt people, hurt people." I don't know what happened in your life to make you so bitter but I hope you can find a new line of work with better karma and energy....

No this is with the benefit of social media and hindsight. There was legit a time where he was considered sincere by most people. I remember this vividly. It was 2013. I visited these girls apartment and they had a cardboard cutout if Jimmy Fallon. They were obsessed with him. They showed me this video of him and Justin Timberlake doing an evolution of dance thing. That video went viral on Facebook so I had seen it. He also had these lip sink battles everyone loved. Before the show.
I remember him going to perform at universal studios at the time and it being sort of big deal. I remember no one had a negative thing ti say about him even those who didn’t watch him. I remember the common sentiment being that he was this fish out of water, sincere, cute dorky yet weirdly attractive guy. I was there man. It seems like so long ago now. But I was there and it was how everyone saw him. Everything changed when that video also went viral on Facebook of his fake laugh. Now everyone acts like they saw it all along. The Ryan Gosling interview itself is one of the hardest pieces of content to get through & you can see the nervous confusion in his face multiple times. At one point he quite literally stares at the ground while Jimmy passes away from laughter like, “what the fck is he doing?”. Spades frustration was also palpable, you could tell he was NOT feeling Jimmys fake persona, and I wish he went in on him, as a huge majority of people aren’t aware just how funny he really is due to being overshadowed by his fellow comedic actors like Sandler etc. Watch Spades clips from the Bad Friends Podcast w/ Bobby Lee & Andrew Santino to see him do what he should’ve done here. Bobby showed up hours late to their interview, so Spade used the opportunity to expertly ick apart Bobby in a way only a seasoned ‘show biz’ level comedian could do. My god I wish he’d have done that to Jimmy live on late night tv

Huh. I've got so many questions about this that I don't know how to articulate bc I can't quite relate (even though I had a front row seat to my uncle's addiction growing up) or understand. So the trauma *response* is the constant need to try to please as many people as possible, and have a larger than life personality to distract from his own perceived shortcomings? What then would be the actual trauma/what was the traumatic event? I'm about a 3rd of the way into the video as I'm writing this, but I guess the idea of his parents letting him drink at a (wildly) inappropriate age doesn't quite connect to me... (??) So the catalyst was his early introduction to substances? And his need to please coupled with that is the reason he behaves the way he does...? Am I making any sense?

Conan O'Brien was the last great late night TV show host in my opinion, and his podcast he currently runs is excellent.
I actually really like the segments of Fallon's show that focuses on the stuff he excels at - impressions, musical segments, and improv comedy. But it all kinda breaks down when it's time to actually talk to and interview people.
Just conpare Conan having Bill Burr on as a guest VS Fallon. Night and day difference. Conan is not only able to keep conversations with relatively tame people interesting, but he can immediately match (and counter, if need be) the energy of wild cards like Bill without breaking a sweat.
Also, Conan is known for treating his employees exceptionally well. During the whole debacle where he was essentially without a show after getting shafted from hosting The Tonight Show, he still paid his employees and didnt lay anyone off, all the way up until he was able to get a new show going. I don't think Fallon or Colbert would have done something like that.

Even at 50, he's still a young guy, and having experienced success that 99.99% of us can barely dream of --- well, something is going to give. The extent of his success is an enormous, overwhelming pressure. Too much of a good thing if you know what I mean.
I worry about his mental health. Picture yourself with all of your most beloved dreams (the ones that border on fantasy) coming true at, what? Thirty? My head would have exploded. (Look no further than my RUclips user name for the classic case in point.)
So, yeah, he annoys the hell out of me sometimes too. But I can't keep from feeling that we're being too hard on him. He's still going through a maturation process. I'm (ok, tentatively) still rooting for him. I hope he finds his balancing point, and calms down a little. And (I had no idea!) he's gotta quit the booze! I hope he ultimately comes through this "awkward stage" with experience and maturity stepping in to smooth out the rough edges.
