The "XIV" means a ship is the 14th battlegroup variant. Onslaught, Legion, Falcon, Eagle, Dominator and Enforcer all have XIV variants. They have a small speed reduction compared with the normal model, but a good amount of extra armour, and slightly improved flux stats (both capacity and recovery). The Legion XIV variant also swaps the ship's usual large ballistic mounts for large missiles, which changes up its role a bit.
Lore wise there are also a bunch of other battlegroups, before the XIV arrived, the VI was stationed in the Persean Sector and was rotated out just before the Collapse happened. Mods also like to add their own Battlegroups, High Tech Expansion added the IV and Arsenal Expansion added the IX, both are high tech focused compared to the XIV's low tech.
@@mllhild Also, the November grade ones (M suffix) are the closest UAF counterparts to the XIV Battlegroup, as they also focus on armor at the cost of mobility. The Automata Spec ships (SP suffix) are more like UAF's counterpart to high tech designs, they use ship systems that are more often associated with High Tech ships like Recall Device, Plasma Jets and Phase Skimmer, and they have weaker armor in exchange for stronger shields.

Great video. After invading a planet, you can click the event in the UI and choose to keep the planet for yourself if you don't want it going to a faction. You take a hit to your reputation from that faction but it's only 10-20 so you can raise that back up easy.
Oh also the way to have 3 semibreves per launcher is with the missle skill of your pilots. It might actually be worth to upgrade those to elite to make the semibeve more resilient and a bit more damage.

Love both the play-throughs you have going! Just a tidbit I learned by accident but if you have some decent blueprints (or dupes) and have added the Scalar Tech faction you can trade those in to the Android girl on Spindle and get a HUGE rep boost. I maxed out to 100 with the faction and the contact with one blueprint and got access to their special military ships. You could grab the Filament which is a pretty nice carrier. Keep up the great gaming!
This planet you bought is actually nice for industry, since industry upkeep scales with hazard rating. In a sense vulcanic worlds are only worth colonizing due to the cryoengine for increased fleets and the colony limit. else it would be more profitable to just colonise several mediocre worlds.
Honestly, I 100% support the idea of taking on the Hegemony, largest faction in the sector though it may be. Why you may ask? Well last I checked the UAF have quite a lot of A.I. in the form of the Androids, and if the Hegemony are going to persecute a race (a whole race that makes up a sizable portion of the UAF population and presumably the population of our Union as well) for the sins of entirely different A.I., well, why shouldn't we protect our population? Honestly, if not for the fact that we need a source of Alpha A.I. Cores for our planets, I'd suggest doing the Remnant Questline to get friendly with them, lean wholeheartedly into the idea that A.I., once they're that sapient, are people too.
Oooooooooooooooooh, what an interesting idea. I'll have to talk to Milkydromeda about the difference between Automata and AI, but if they give the go ahead then I think that's dope. If they don't I'll have to make it a WYFU faction thing instead ;)
@@TimoRedbeard Your best shot is to get on Yakuza Lady Yamato's good side, she rarely can help you with stealing one at a much reduced price (30mil where as buying one will cost you 50mil), that is actually how I got my Novaeria, which I cheesily named the Will of Eternity.

So sad thst you dont have the Legion Infernalis from the tahlan ships mod, their capitals make Onslaughts look like squishy toys. Also as a pirate faction you kinda always end up at war with them.
Technically the Hel Scaith has less armor than the Onslaught, and their Daemon Cores always trade 20% defense for 20% offense. But they have a very large 270 degree shield arc (Brawler configs straight up have a 360 shield) and their armor regen gimmick makes them very hard to kill, but IMO their firepower is what make them really menacing, 7 large hybrids, 2 large missiles and a massive built-in cannon are nothing to scoff at.
For curiosity's sake, do you think you will cover the recently popularity exploded PAGSM mod and/or the tried and true Iron Shell mod some time in the future?
Milky did say that UAF vs UAF will be a thing in the future, wonder if it means that there will be UAF Usurpers with their own category of stuff derived from mainline Federation designs, it will be like Blade Breakers and Blade Breaker Deserters, that will be cool.
For how much people say the UAF is OP their fleets are actually pretty weak if you specialize against them. A lot of point defense, especially beam weapons/emp vs the fighters. Then once the fighters are dead you close the distance and kill all the rather low armor UAF ships.
