I just did “chili” beans and they turned out awesome. Even my 70+ mother has decided to never buy chili beans again, lol. Next up is northern beans in homemade ham bone broth instead of water. So flavorful. I’ve canned all the single ingredients for ham and beans I.e., ham chunks, northern beans, ham broth but now I want to make the beans more convenient. Happy canning.

I just make a big roasterful of bean and ham stew and after we eat some for dinner, I can the rest. It usually takes me most of the night but it turns out to be about a year's worth for my husband and I. I do the same for chili, chicken soup and chicken stew, veggie soup and beef stew at least once per year each. It makes dinners easy.

Holy moley!!!!! Who knew that canning beans was this easy??????? I've been dreading it, thinking that it was WAY more complicated than this. Guess who will be canning beans this week? Thank you, dear one!

Be sure to tell them this is not an approved method. This is my preferred method, but, especially as beginners, they need to learn guidelines from the Center for Home Food Preservation., when they really understand the science behind canning, they can make informed decisions if they choose to do something not approved. I choose to can beans this way, but understanding the science is crucial if you don’t use “appropriate” recipes.

@@JaniceCrowellI agree with you, but can you tell me why it’s not approved? What is it about the method in this video that makes it unsafe?

I'm really enjoying Canuary this year. Such a nice mix. I love canning beans. Since they are cheap they were my go-to when I was learning how to use Tattlers. Plus, since they process the same time as meat, I can fill up the canner if I'm short a jar or two.

Just canned chickpeas for the first time today using this method. I canned pinto and Northern white a month ago soaking and boiling them for 30 minutes. They are soft, mushy and stick together. My chickpeas look good and are not mushy looking. Thanks for the video

Every year, one of our local grocery stores has a "can-can" sale. We try to stock up, but like everything else, it's not what it use to be. This year's sale price is almost what we would have paid regular price a few years back. You're right, that is the easiest canning I've ever seen. Thank you for sharing, have a great day!
