This channel could be 100% telling stories of the glory days of American Hot Rodding, and I’d be all-in. Freiburger has a natural gift of being able to tell a story in such a way that makes it feel like you’re chatting in the garage over an engine with some beers, but he’s also very thorough. When David tells a story, he seems just as geeked up about it now as he probably was back then.

    Thank you for this video.
I was a senior in high school when this special came out and was madly in love with the car in it. Something about how unique it looked from anything else. It always bothered me that it was destroyed for a show and I'm so glad to hear it actually wasn't.
I so wanted a mopar but they were always out of my price range. My first car was a Dan Gurney W nose Cyclone Spoiler I got for $500. It got hit so I moved on to a '62 Thunderbird and then a '69 XL convertible. When this show came out, I was hell-bent to find a superbee. I joined the Air Force after graduation and was stationed in South Dakota. Wasn't able to find a Superbee though and soon I was off to Europe. I didn't come back to the states till the early 90s and by then they were very hard to find at any reasonable price. So, sadly I've never been able to have my dream car. 😞

I was into Chevelles, had a couple 1967's, even 4 doors, front fenders would fit, etc. You end up with lots of usable parts, alternator brackets, little clips, motor mounts, window handles. LOL again love the stories, it's what happens when we become old timers :)

Very cool story, Dave! Between you reminiscing and be-bopping around SOCAL (where I lived for 15 years), and Dulcich's shop/ranch in the San Joaguin Valley (where I grew up), you really bring back memories for me. Every time you mention Fresno, my ears perk up. Bought many parts for my cars at Turners Auto Wrecking in the 70s and 80s ... was actually friends with the son, Jimmy. He'd just let me go in and get whatever I needed. It was like a candy store!
Gotta say, I LOVE the 200S wheels! First set I put them on was a 1965 GTO back in 1977 (15x8 rear and 15x7 front with Radial TAs). Second set were polished 17s on my 1996 GMC Sierra. Again with BFG TAs (white letters OUT of course. :) I liked them because they were different and not nearly as popular as the straight spoked version but still screamed 'hot rod' to me. BTW, VanHalen was also frequently blasting in that GTO ... from the 8-Track! lol

Great story, memories, great cars. If I had all the cars I swapped sold cut up bought, etc etc.
Out of them all I actually miss my 68 Plymouth Satellite, flawless body. Bought it for $50 in 83, transmission issue.

@@TheDavidFreiburger The one car I really miss is my 70' convertible challenger! I got her in 95' it was a 318 car but it had all the rare options. AC and the Pistol grip Hearst shifted 4 speed. I found a 72 RS parts car for all the other goodies. I painted it Plum Czy found a correct 340 after the 318 let a connecting rod loose. Built it my self 1st engine swap for me! then someone kept offering more money till I had to sell it for a downpayment for a house!

I had a few cheap muscle car crash stories too but not this crazy, like who wouldn't want a pic of Heather at the time?!

Very cool history on the cars & Fonzie David, thanks for sharing. Your 6 months older than me so when your talking about your car sales magazine I am thinking of what we had here in Arizona (Auto Trader). I purchased 4-5 a week, every week and that was the beginning of many automotive purchases for the next 40 years! You had your 70 Super Bee and I had a 72 El Camino 454 (aftermarket)! Damn I miss those days! Love your show man!

Scott Baio would have been 23 I guess playing a teenager. I guess he must be short. Haha, "Why didn't he just ask Heather for a photo together ?". I think we can all remember that mid-teenager frozen-in-the-headlights feeling when you're around your 20-something year old crush (and for David, she just happened to be a famous TV beauty). Sly side-pic is no foul in my book haha ! Hi from Prague, CZ
