I'm not opposed to those other secrets in the basement coming to life again! This period was the golden age of TV news themes. The stuff today is OK but it's just not like the good days of TV news in the 80s and 90s.

In 1994, a tabloid variant of the theme used by WBAL (Pride Inside) was adopted by WTHI. That theme was only in use for two years.

The first two clips were for WSMV in Nashville, but as I recall, only the first one was actually used on the air.

Pride Inside was originally commissioned by WBAL before it became used by a few other stations like WBRZ, WTHI and CHCH. Stations in eastern Canada used Gari Media campaigns in a lesser fashion than in western Canada, with the only other known example being CFMT during the 1990s, when another package commissioned by WBAL (The Heat) was used.

Did WXIA 11 Atlanta actually use that alternate “On Your Side” version by the great Richie Havens? I liked the version on this demo. Never heard that before.

It might've been more for WBAL Baltimore, who used the slogan for a time in the mid-late 80s

On the CFCN clip, 4 & 5 refer to its OTA and cable channels in Calgary, respectively. No doubt inspired by CFAC, which itself Ided as "2 & 7".

And a fun fact: CFAC's Lethbrdge semi-satellite used the same 2 & 7 branding, but in that case, it was cable 2-OTA 7.

This is neat! I have always wanted to hear a full version of the "Stand Up And Tell 'Em Pittsburgh's Great" jingle that WTAE used in the 1980s. It sounds fantastic. The lyrics talk about Pittsburgh being the number-one city in America.
