I would ask about minimum manning on fire vehicles. If they have four firefighters on vehicle rosters that would mean they may be responding with three per truck on any given incident, which is highly dangerous.

In fact, 35 Engine and Truck Companies throughout the city go on rotating variances every day which means they would have crews of four instead of five but this does not apply to single Engine Companies. Chicago Firefighter's Union President Pat Cleary campaigned on eliminating the variances as a way of improving public safety but that's for the Johnson Administration to decide on that even though Johnson did not campaign for that as the Firefighter's Union endorsed his opponent.
