Stefan never thought of hurting Elena for cheating him, instead he accepted the fact and built a new bond with her which had no formalities and just a casual bond. After Elena broke up with Damon he lost humanity and could not control the rejection. Damon never tried to handle situations differently and was ready to kill anyone to save Elena which shows how inhumane he can be in love. Unlike him Stefan always tried to look for an alternative to so he could protect not only Elena but also her friends and never had Stefan ever misbehaved with Elena's friends. All these points show that how wrong Damon was for Elena and how good Stefan was for Elena.
