True, I shipped Delena because it was exciting and thrilling but only until I matured, Stelena is a real relationship that involves communication, respect and it has flaws that 2 people are trying to overcome together because they are truly in love with each other. They are so beautiful and I'm sad they didn't end up together (at least they did in the books), "that kind of love never dies". Elena was real with Stefan, she always chose him when she was a human, wasn't scared to talk about her feelings with him, they trusted each other, Stefan resisted the Original's compulsion for her, saved her friend instead of her knowing how hurtful it was for him, put her first and planned their future like a couple. The way the show tried to portray Stelana as a high school romance was so off. Paul was so right when he said everyone will get sick of Delena really quickly. They actually could bring them back if Nina didn't leave but we know what happened, I'm still pissed off.

She is saying that Stefan did the right thing by saving Matt and respecting her choice and she doesn't want to be a vampire but when Stefan wants the cure for her, to turn her a human, she suddenly says that you treat me like a project and what not.. I can see that they were desperate to get Elena and Damon together, but it looks so hurriedly done. She is talking about how much she loves Stefan and how it will never change, and she likes that he respects her choice. 3-4 episodes later all that just goes away. I personally don't think they were meant to be together, but the way their relationship ended was unconvincing.
Nothing about Elena's relationship with Damon was rushed. It happened gradually. And ppl tend to forget that Damon saved her life just as much as Stefan did. At times, I can admit his methods were unconventional, but he never endangered her life. He may have taken her choices away but he never physically caused her harm. Damon did love Elena, maybe not as perfectly as Stefan did, but nevertheless, he was in love with her. Also, Damon was right about a lot of things and he was smart. For Example: 1.) He became a member of the town council. 2.) Her figured out that John was Elena's biological father way before anyone else did. 3.) Damon helped Atticus rewire Jeremy's vampire hunter brain when he was trying to kill Elena. Damon was the one who told him to make Bonnie his emotional trigger. 3.) Damon warned Stefan that Elena needed to drink human blood, when she became a vampire, but he didn't listen and she almost died in a cell bc of that. 4.) Damon's genius plan to fake Bonnie's death when Silas had possession of Alaric's body. The list goes on and on but all everybody wants to do is dwell on the negative thing's that Damon did but he did a lot of good too. Just saying.
