Four guys standing side by side looking at each other and using head nods to communicate when to change and the drummer knows what to do. This is awesome to witness from 25 feet away, while the place is a massive party everybody is HIGH.

The Guitar Army of The Outlaws. Right there with the Best Classic Southern Rock ever produced. Another great reaction.

I got to see them in 79 in Little Rock, Arkansas with Molly Hatchet and Black Oak Arkansas. ALL bands kicked ass and took names. Fantastic concert.

Notice the precision they have in unison with each other on all the various changes in tempo/guitar riffs they all know where the song is going next. No over dubs necessary recorded live one take. That is REAL TALENT, and considering they were all stoned when they recorded it.Why we call it Classic Southern Rock.

You made my day JMBOY. Thanks for playing this one. I love all types of music, country, rock, jazz, r&b etc. But the Outlaws are my favorite band. They have such a unique sound, and the guitar playing is immaculate. Check out their songs Knoxville Girl, or Man of the Hour.
Junior Brown does a great cover of Freeborn Man that's worth a listen. I'd suggest his live video performance that's probably still on RUclips. He does some crazy stuff on the guitar that's worth a watch. There's two live vids of him performing it but the best Imo is a daytime outdoor performance from many years ago.

Cruising Pacific Coast Highway in my 55 Ford Panel "The Moose" with 4 friends, 300 watts-6 speakers and this album was rocking us down the road in that van full of smoke. Great memories from great times with great music.

@AliasMark69 I saw the Outlaws with Leslie West (Mountain) and I saw Marshall Tucker with Dave Mason and the Jefferson Starship. Both were unreal concerts!!!! Mountain drummer poured lighter fluid on his drums, lit the sticks on fire and it was a "blazin' mess" after that!!!

The Outlaws had some of the purest guitar I ever heard. Every element of their music just blended perfectly. You would really dig their version of Ghost Riders in the Sky. Just epic.

I don't think I've heard ANYONE play this on the internet or the radio, ever. My favorite version is on their "BRING EM BACK ALIVE" live album. One thumbs-up coming up!

Shout Out to the Bass player walking through the song with swagger and bad ass bottom.

After you listen to more of these guys, check out some deep tracks by Foghat. The Outlaws and Foghat toured a lot in the late 70’s and even though one band was solid southern rock and the other was blues influenced classic rock, they paired together well for a great double bill.
