    Thank you so much, Katie. I think I’ve recently started to struggle with anxiety and depression related to the severity of my daughter’s special needs. And now I’m talking to my husband & a friend and realizing I need help

    I am so thankful for finding your video. I've been struggling with depression for years now. Off and no. The past few days have been a real struggle and today wasn't any different. I feel embarrassed for talking about because if feel people around me think I have my shit together (homeschooling, mothering ... Life!) And I don't . My uncle recently passed away and my mother in law passing anniversary was yesterday. I didn't think it would effect me as much as it has. I feel extremely overwhelmed . I felt alone , until now. Thank you for your help

      I am glad this video could help. I am so sorry for your loss and pain. You are not alone God is with you and I am lifting you into prayer as I type this. I have done a whole series on this topic and we actually have an episode on our podcast about this topic as well. lifeinthemundane.buzzsprout.com

    Thank you for bringing up the difference between the spiritual and physical aspects. I suffered for along time thinking that I just needed to pray harder. Mayb one day I will be brave enough to talk about my journey with anxiety and depression. This was so encouraging, thank you

      Mommy on the Move yes that is such an important thing. I would love to see a video on your journey but I also know how hard it is (like I said this has taken over a year) but should you ever decide to make one be sure to send it to me.

    Excellent video!!!! I can relate. It definitely is both mental and spiritual for me too. Thank you for opening up about this subject that is often lived out in silence. I pray that currently things are going even better for you. I know how it can be a journey of ups and downs with mental health.

    I had PPD after my first daughter was born. It's such an interesting thing and definitely something that needs to be talked about more. For me it manifested in an odd way. All I wanted was to be around her and no-one else and I became hardened. I've always been an naturally emotional person and mine manifested as meanness and anger, I couldn't even cry anymore. I also get bad heart palpitations when I'm stressed or anxious too.
    I loved your transparency in this video. Such a great thing to be open and honest about. I feel like the more knowledge that is out there, the easier it becomes to combat it.

      Thanks for your encouragement. It really is crazy how many different ways it can manifest itself I know a few mamas that have had those exact same system. I agree it is an important thing to talk about. Thanks for watching and for sharing your experience.

    Yes, this is definitely a great topic to discuss. There are so many individuals dealing with postpartum depression, anxiety, and other forms of depression as well! I am so glad that you listened to God's voice on this. Sometimes out of fear of a backlash or feeling misunderstood many people will not share! Thank you for being courageous in sharing! I will pray for you and with you!

    You are so brave. Thank you for sharing all of this. I had PPD with my second and didn’t recognize it, just like you. My hubby did and made me talk to my OB. Meds helped and I’m so glad he called me out on it. I felt alone and like I was out of body. Like I was disconnected from myself.

    Thank you for sharing your story. I too struggle with anxiety. I didn’t struggle as a child or anything like that. I was actually very hesitant to even believe that it was the case. I previously didn’t really “believe” in depression/anxiety as a whole and wrapping my mind around the idea that it was my diagnosis was very difficult. I had thought that people who struggled really just needed something else to focus on in life. Kind of a wallowing in negativity or worry, but something you could control if you wanted to. I really understand now the trapped feeling. I was focused on things that I did not want to think about but also couldn’t seem to get passed it. For me, it’s health anxiety. Particularly a thought that there is something chronically/fatally wrong with my husband or I that would take us from our family and leave our kiddos without a parent. The other thought that would control me is a germ obsession. In particular the thought of mrsa/Staph or strep and an infection becoming septic or in some way fatal. These thoughts led me to panic attacks-racing heart beat, struggling to breathe, body pain- all which further perpetuated the thought that there was something wrong with me. I went in to the doctor and emergency room had a bunch of work ups (which is soo out of character for me. I had never been to a hospital before and even had my 3 kids at home!). It consumed my every thought though. For me, cbd has been particularly helpful. I had a fear of using an anxiety pharmaceutical and becoming dependent on it and my midwife recommended cbd instead at least to start and we could go from there if need be. I am thankful that the cbd has helped. In addition, spiritual growth has helped immensely. I actually wondered if the cbd was necessarily recently and cut back. I thought I was totally fine and my husband pointed out that some of my old paranoias were surfacing (things like bleaching our sheets daily or washing my hands constantly throughout the day at unnecessary times). I reupped the cbd and those things have lost their dire urgency in my days. I know that god has used this struggle to help me to understand and relate to others in a way that I maybe wasn’t as loving and sympathetic before. There are times when I just wish I didn’t have to deal with it but overall I’m thankful that god has used it to grow me as well as provided some coping mechanisms for the times that I need it most.

      I am so sorry to hear that you have struggled but I am so thankful that you are able to see God's hand in this. It is such a struggle to feel so helpless but I just remind myself that "When I am weak He is Strong" and if my weakness can point others to the strength of Christ then it is all worth it. I am also glad to hear you were able to find help with your symptoms and found a treatment plan that works for you.

    During my third pregnancy, I felt sad all the time. I knew that I loved my life and that it was only chemical. It didn't help that it was winter time and the sun didn't shine for months (overcast). What helped was NOT asking myself why I wanted to cry, but TELLING myself that I loved my life and eating chocolate. The three pieces of chocolate altered the chemicals in my brain enough to make me feel better in the afternoons, which were the worst.

      Yes unfortunately it often is a hidden thing and the stigma of the world tells us we should keep it that way but I pray this will encourage others to start talking and bring hope and encouragement that we are not alone.

    Thank you so much for sharing. I have been sorting through things since having twin babies, my 4th and 5th children. I have noticed a very distinct pattern of my symptoms and think it is hormone related. Sid you ever consider PMDD? I'm going to talk to my OB about it because my symptoms are only post ovulation until my period. Thank you again for sharing your story!!!

    I would love to hear your husband perspective on it. I recently got diagnosed with depression/anxiety and I'm having a hard time coping. And on top of that my husband constantly asks me what he did wrong for me to have depression or anxiety. I can't figure out how to get through to him that I'm fighting my own demons in my head it my diagnosis doesn't have to do with him. 💔

      @LifeintheMundane  4 года назад +1

      Kristel Mestas Kristel I will be praying for you. I know that’s super hard. I talked to my husband and we are planning to do another video on his perspective and how he learned to help. So be sure to keep an eye out for that.
