      Your joke was not well recived by 1500 elo player. Anyway strange rook move by alireza. He needed a win to come back in candidates. Beside one player all are super grandmasters .

    Just a flash of "Alireza the tactical devil" after a long time. I think he has not come well prepared to the Candidates but I hope he will play the rest of the tournament up to his true caliber.

    in this game Firouzja is playing like Tal Magnus Fisher, he is just eating everything, Gukesh is playing great but Alireza is on fire finding one great tactic after another.

    Alireza reminds me of the smartest kid in school, but who does no study whatsoever. Just pure talent gets him through. I have no idea how much prep he does compared to say Fabi or Pragg. Just speculating ...

      I thought Hikaru hinted that Alireza had done too much prep, but the way he is playing out the opening moves I don't see it. Perhaps he had someone else in mind.

    Your analysis of this game is the best I’ve seen, besides the fact that it’s the most entertaining. Your economy of words allows you to look at more possibilities (e.g., the Queen “checkmate”) as well as provide more color of the event. Very well done!

    EC forgot to mention *the KEY reason WHY Gukesh was so **_"heartbroken"_** ...* ... Namely that he was *1 (ONE) MOVE AWAY from achieving 40-move time controls... :P*
    Had he been just a tad quicker earlier on, there could have been options for a draw! :P

    Breaking the pattern. It often occurs to me in mind that switching things up increases my chances of winning in chess. Brave Alireza kinda proved my thinking's not far off. Thank you for this content 😊 I don't forget this teacher, because he said and taught us, that if you always do what you always did, then you will get what you always got.

    I do love watching Alireza play chess. He isn't consistent at all but on the other hand we would have seen 7 draws from Wesley if he had made it here instead :/ I love Wesley just to be clear, an amazing chess player and seems like the nicest guy on the planet, but he has prioritized not losing ranking (which is understandable, everyone has bills) over everything else and that results in a lot of not very exciting chess imho.

    I think Alireza has been very entertaining this tournament, it's just fair luck comes his way after some games where he lost it a bit despite some ambitious ideas.

      Thanks for feedback though I'm doing it to not spoilt the result. In a way the thumbnail spoils it but sometimes you don't know what really happens even from thumbnail so I wanted to keep the intrigue

      ​@@epicchess2021fwiw, I prefer not having it spoiled...but also, it can be compelling to see an interesting position on the thumbnail. Maybe there's a happy medium where an interesting position is partially shown, but not enough to analyze it from just the thumbnail?
      Alas that the reality of content creation is so much marketing and not just, well, content creation! I really enjoy these games where you go into the sidelines and explain why something is dangerous, a curated selection of interesting games is neat but the insightful commentary is even better.
