okay im a ballet dancer and whenever it's in media i physically can't prevent myself from sharing info + personal thoughts so writing as it goes: in most professional productions, the Black Swan (Odile) and the White Swan (Odette) are usually danced by the same dancer because Odile is supposed to be Odette's like evil twin. in the context of this being a production where the cast is all students, having Odile and Odette be split roles makes sense (both roles contain a LOT of difficult dancing and a student's stamina may not be there yet, studio director wanting to give two dancers who may fit the movements of one character or the other a little better the opportunity to learn the variations, etc). however, did nobody get cast as Odette? like was it just not important to mention for this breakdown or are they just doing excerpts from the ballet orrrrr like what's going on here? razors in pointe shoes: okay i guess maybe their teacher didn't want to victim blame but if there is something in your pointe shoe that isn't usually there, you know IMMEDIATELY. pointe shoes must fit very tight to the foot in order to work correctly when you're dancing on pointe, so anything wrong or different is pretty obvious, especially to a dancer who is presumably practiced enough to be a candidate for Odile (the solo variations are considered among the hardest in classical ballet). so uh. everyone around karen should be a little suspicious that like - girl how the fuck did you not NOTICE razor blades in your shoes! and realistically speaking, even if faren (no clue how to spell lmao) got Odile taken away because she put razor blades in someone's shoes, the girl whose feet got all cut up would NOT be the one to get the principal role because she needs to let her feet heal. like girl your toes got sliced and diced, you are not going to be doing 32 fouettes right now!! and as for kelly post-karen-death being suspiciously better at dancing, there could be some merit to that being weird. every dancer has specific things they're working on and areas that they are better at than others, as well as good and bad habits, etc. so, lets say if kelly was a good jumper but just okay at turning, and karen was decent at jumping but better at turns, and kelly was suddenly much better at turning after karen's death, that might be a little weird if there were also other dance habits/mannerisms that were suddenly shifted from karen to kelly. but the switching lockers thing is a weird move regardless. like kelly is either taking over her dead sister's dance locker for no explained reason (is it an especially good locker and/or in a good spot that she doesn't want someone else to take? is she afraid that someone else will take it and do something to karen's belongings? is she grieving and wanting to feel some connection to her sister?) even though an explained reason would probably do good things for fleshing out kelly as a character, or karen is doing an inherently weird thing, again, with no explanation, that could potentially blow her cover for not being kelly in pll logic world. ALSO why the fuck would kelly be put in charge of helping faren with black swan??? that should either be something for faren to work on on her own as an additional challenge to her self-motivation, something for uh the fucking director/teacher/ballet master to do, or a more experienced dancer to be helping her with. like maybe it would be fine for like a one-time "oh kelly, can you watch faren do her variation and give some feedback?", but it makes no sense for a peer to be in a sort of mentorship position with faren long-term. and then faren loses black swan again for her weird investigation behavior?????? at this point the director needs to just fucking choose holy shit. in general, it's really unusual for the cast list for principal characters (as opposed to corps de ballet stuff) to be changing this much. so yeah carley, i am also not feeling confident about this swan lake production. summer intensive not accepting faren for a back scar is just like... no. summer intensives, expecially for high school-aged dancers, are literally just for continuing your training over the summer. attending an intensive CAN be a way in to auditioning for a school's year-round program, which CAN be a way to get into apprenticeships and/or corps positions at connected companies (if the school is connected to a ballet company, which many big intensives are), but the school is not "risking" anything by accepting a dancer with a history of back injury. faren would be paying to go there lol, if she gets injured and can't participate, that's her loss, not the company's. the last reference to ballet is the whole "she [ballet teacher] made you be perfect, make her imperfect" thing, which sort of implies that this ballet teacher was one of those scary Russian ones who hasn't smiled since she made her final performance as the sugarplum fairy under the direction of vaganova himself. anyways so nowhere else have i noticed any flags of this teacher being like that? no severe, old-fashioned teacher would change a fucking cast list that many times, and definitely wouldn't give a principal role to a girl who just had her feet cut up with RAZORS IN HER POINTE SHOES (i still can't believe that was a plot point omg), like it just doesn't fit into the archetype that maybe the show wanted to her to fit. and one last thing that is literally just me being annoying and overly pedantic: ballerina = principal/prima ballerina in a professional ballet company, ballet dancer = most others. like that's super technical and like who cares, it's not a crime to be like a soloist and call yourself that. but that alongside the weird "taking a risk with a dancer with a history of back injuries" led me to question: are they ballet students or are they literal professionals on the side? is faren getting paid for Odile? what is happening??? okay that's it yap session over love carley videos love mike's mic it was absolutely beautiful to see the first few minutes of the video no notes wonderful okay bye

I am 31 and watched Pretty little liars as it premiered in the beginning and never missed a new episode, I was like 17 when it came out and it ended when I was in my 20's pretty crazy. This is the first pretty little liars reboot that I have liked since the original. The original PLL will always be my favorite! But the reboot is really good! I am loving it!

Also Ezra is the worst kind of predator because he never realized he was one. I can just see Aria & Ezra having a daughter, her getting into a relationship with a teacher, Ezra *loosing his shit* over it, and Aria just shrugging. Then Ezra being like “why aren’t you pissed about this?” and Aria saying “that’s what we did” then Ezra being like “that was different.” And still never realize it.

I am 31 and watched Pretty little liars as it premiered in the beginning and never missed a new episode, I was like 17 when it came out and it ended when I was in my 20's pretty crazy. This is the first pretty little liars reboot that I have liked since the original. The original PLL will always be my favorite! But the reboot is really good! I am loving it!

I feel like the biggest thing about the show that's bothered me is that they try to make these dumb, random connections to the original show that arent really necessary in the first place and then are SO BAD. Like literally everything in rosewood looked completely different and they didn't even get names of things/situations right. Like if you're gonna make references and call-backs to the original, at least do a decent job!
