Agree, it could also limit clientele depending on where you are located and the status of the economy. It's like Michael Jordan selling his shoes at outrageous prices without consideration that most people aren't financially stable nor responsible but will desperately want them. Plenty of people work jobs where they stand for nine hours and aren't paid $60+ an hour.

If it’s too much, they cannot afford you. Do not dim your light because it’s friends or family. They should want to pay you . And doing hair is time consuming.
If you were unavailable where would they go? I believe that family should be willing to support you build your skill and craft and give you incentive to.
I am a retired braider and I am so happy for you!! I'm glad that you're charging what you NEED to charge. I am so proud that you know your worth. As an old school braider, I can honestly say that I didn't know my worth back then. I mean, don't get me wrong, I made money but I could have made more. People don't understand what braiders go through. I remembered, as I got older, braiding hair became brutal on my body. My back would hurt, my feet would hurt, my fingers and my hips. I remembered, sometimes it would take my body 2 to 3 days to recoup. I was only able to do like 1 head a week and that's when I knew that it was time to hang it up!! But I still have a lot of knowledge. Oh and by the way Pana, those are not small braids, they're way too big to even be considered medium in our day. But it's a new dawn, it's a new day and i'm feeling good. Thank you for allowing me to be honest.
That is why I stopped braiding hair because I got discourage. People was complaining that me charging 180 was to much so I gave up on braiding hair. Now I’m looking to get back into braiding hair since I moved to Texas.
I learned how to do knotless braids earlier this year just because of your videos. A lot of people have asked me to do their hair since then and I gotta say for the amount of work it takes!!!....... you do you girl.
She's actually not wrong for the price when you Google it knotless braids is $300 to $600 she just charged $100 more . Now i wouldn't pay someone to braid my hair because I do it myself for free but i can respect the hustle 🥰 keep it up$$$
I’m a young stylist and have dreams to become a professional but the most I would charge is 350 I personally feel that 700 is to much bc people got things to do themselves,, and I feel like 700 is to much but hey your choice your bag👍🏽
Know your worth especially if you spend time and money going to school. The smaller and the longer the braids are means more time and labor for the stylist.
In Harlem NewYork there's an array of competitive african hair braiding shops. Harlem have so much competition among the braiders they ask the customer how much they wanna pay. In Harlem customers would pay $350 to $400 for those exact braids.
Definitely worth it. I am not a braider but I learn watching RUclips so I can braid my daughters hair. She only wants knotless which takes a lot of time. You have to value your work and know what your services are worth. We as a people need to stop tearing others down when we don’t agree on something. If they cannot afford or don’t want to pay what someone is charging then that stylist is not for you. Great job. Keep it going ❤️
This is the best comment of all. Think about how long you will have a wig like that . The stylist is very good at her work but a wig is a better investment.
True! You can take off and put on wigs too. Once you take braids out they’re out. If I really wanted braids for that price though I would definitely look into the braided wigs. The one’s done right actually look just as good as the real thing too.
I agree. I don't spend that much on my hair anyways but I'd rather get a wig. And then the time it will take me to take them out?? Not worth it at all to me. The style better last at least 4 months...but I take mine out after 2 or 3 months so even though for her she might think it is a good price because she is standing there to braid hair, for me, I still have to deal with taking them out and the fact that it is a one and done style. But I guess I don't have to do my hair for a couple of months. 🤷🏾♀️
I am in awe that how perfect they are... It looks incredible. Watch great work you do. And you're right girl, you are incredibly talented so beer prices must match!
I’m so confused! This is the price that she charges for HER time, energy, space, and talent. Also, I have yet to hear her say that $700 is what she charges for every hairstyle that she does. If you can’t afford a $700 hairstyle, then don’t get a $700 hairstyle. Also, there’s nothing wrong with you not wanting to spend your money on a hairstyle! It’s your money, do with it as you will! Be blessed!
Absolutely love them and you !!!!! Your work is most definitely worth it . You said it best , everybody isn’t your client so everybody who isn’t your client , their opinion is invalid 😅 keep going sis 🤞🏽💘

This is literally the reason why I stopped doing hair on a regular basis. When I do “straight hair” they pay what you ask for. $1500. But when I come to my good sis(y’all). We gotta compromise and for what? Everyone isn’t my client and I’m not everyone’s stylist
They cute but I wouldn't pay 700 for them lol I would just braid it myself, but if I had to do someone hair like that i could see charging 700 for them because I'm gone need a day or two off after to recuperate but that is why I stop braiding hair, because people did not want to pay me the money but would pay the Africans
Thisss. I would love for ppl that complain about pricing to be in our shoes for one day. The finger cramping, the back aches, the feet pain, legs hurting. And that’s not me complaining, cause I wouldn’t change my job for the world; but sometimes I wish people would be a little more considerate of how hard we as braiders work. If you can’t afford it or don’t want to pay it, go to another stylist. People love inserting opinions where they have no knowledge.
@Mahawa Kamara lol I’m not complaining. Everyone has things they like about their work, and things they don’t like. Common sense. I also never said not to express ur opinion, I just wish that people like you would try to be a lot more understanding of the hard work that braiding is. After you provide hair and materials for a nine hr work day, and pay a booth rent fee ON TOP of bills and groceries, we’ll see if you think that these are overpriced.
I’m a young braider (I’m 14) and because I’m somewhat still a beginner (I’ve been braiding hair for at least 3 years) it takes me a while to finish when I do knotless braids I average acting around 6 hours for small braids, which is mostly what I do, so that means I’m standing on my feet for 6+ hours at a time, and I would NEVER charge $700 for some braids that’s barely gone last a month, but I mean everyone had there own opinion, I’m just giving you the opinion of someone who actually understands what that lady goes through
Just because one person can’t pay 700$ doesn’t mean someone else can’t I would most def pay it not just about hair it’s about the time and how long your standing if you don’t like the price it’s always someone cheaper 🤷🏽♀️

Agree, it could also limit clientele depending on where you are located and the status of the economy. It's like Michael Jordan selling his shoes at outrageous prices without consideration that most people aren't financially stable nor responsible but will desperately want them. Plenty of people work jobs where they stand for nine hours and aren't paid $60+ an hour.
thanks for the advice i really needed it!💞 i’m 16 and i’ve been doing my hair & my families hair since i was 13 but i didn’t start to take it serious until i was 15 and i still struggle with prices because people will say that’s too high or because i’m younger i shouldn’t charge that much but after hearing what you said it helped me a lot so thanks you so much for this !
Don’t let people put a price on your work.
charge your worth 🤷🏾♀️ no matter your age
If it’s too much, they cannot afford you. Do not dim your light because it’s friends or family. They should want to pay you . And doing hair is time consuming.
If you were unavailable where would they go? I believe that family should be willing to support you build your skill and craft and give you incentive to.

Exactly! Because that is what I do!

I wouldn't use my rent or car note on no braids🤦🏿🤦🏿.lol

That is why I stopped braiding hair because I got discourage. People was complaining that me charging 180 was to much so I gave up on braiding hair. Now I’m looking to get back into braiding hair since I moved to Texas.
I wouldn't complain at all 😂 I'm trying to get my hair done now it's rough these days
Good luck! You got this 💯
I learned how to do knotless braids earlier this year just because of your videos. A lot of people have asked me to do their hair since then and I gotta say for the amount of work it takes!!!....... you do you girl.

Don’t justify your pricing. Your work speaks for itself
I wouldn't pay that much for braids on my head but a wig yes because it will last a very long time so it would be a good investment.
Now this makes sense. Why would anyone pay that much money for something they will eventually cut out and throw away
right andddd you can take it on and off

I feel like pricing also depends on where you live, the cost of living is very different in certain states. I can't even say if I would pay $700 or not lol.
This is literally the reason why I stopped doing hair on a regular basis. When I do “straight hair” they pay what you ask for. $1500. But when I come to my good sis(y’all). We gotta compromise and for what? Everyone isn’t my client and I’m not everyone’s stylist

Well she ask the question 😩🤷🏽♀️
she's asked so you shhh
