  • So there are a lot of acronyms in the TV world and it can be seriously confusing. Recently, though, there's been more and more buzz around a particular one that I want to talk about: ULED.
ULED is technically the name for a set of proprietary technologies that the company Hisense has created for its LED televisions. There's a lot to that though and one huge benefit of ULED that we'll get to in a bit.
Full disclosure before we get started, HiSense reached out sent me one of their latest ULED TV's, the H8F, to do this video with. But, I definitely recommend the TV for a number of reasons, but we'll also get to that later.
    First up, what is ULED?

I had this tv briefly and I for the price it is the best the market. Three things i noticed is display does not use pixel dimming which is great. TCL and Vizio use pixel dimming. Two the tv is super bright. And three I do not know how they achieved their blacks because it doesnt have that many zones but the blacks are pitch black in a dark room. Neither the TCL 6 series nor the Vizio P series achieved these kind of blacks. The only bad thing about this tv is that it has excessive dark corners. I saw a cherry picked one by Hisense at best buy and it did not have excessive dark corners so I don’t know if I just got a bad one. The other thing is 1080p material looks horrible on this tv. Looks sandy/grainy. I think they did not do a good job with the system that processes 1080p material. But 4k signal is perfect. As long as you connect to a 4k Apple tv for example it looks perfect. If you hook up a 1080p Apple tv it looks horrible. I eventually returned mine due to the dark corners. Got the TCL 6 and was disappointed with the pixel dimming. Pixels looked huge making it look like 1080p tv. Got a Vizio P series which was more expensive but was a compromise between TCL and Hisense. In my opinion and I’m a pixel peeper and own an OLED TV I think the Hisense is H8F is something special except for the dark corners.

      Seconding this.
From a financial perspective, bringing back CRTs would be suicide since only really poor people and retro gaming and CRT enthusiasts would buy them.
But I really want them to come back, maybe some really high end CRT monitors for the retro gaming community, but only retro gaming-focused companies would want to bring it back and I don’t think they would make CRTs since no one is making CRTs anymore in China and they would rather make new upscalers to display retro consoles well in modern TVs.

So long as its quick enough for gaming and you can watch movies without being fussy, then should last you ages. I admit i can see different tvs in shops that look better than others, but you see those price figures rising too. If you aint fussy and are happy with a decent picture, everyone go with what you can afford. Yeah, however, people will not wait like 1-2 years to buy a new TV that actually they know little about, also people may not like micro led because of its unconventional set up and price, like buying additional squares to fill the preferable size. As i said Micro Led from Samsung was first show in CES 2018 and yet there was almost no information or advances to a consumer release date, including on CES 2019.

Your explanation of the refresh rates was extremely misleading.
Interpolated framerates are not a substitute for an actual refresh rate. So no, you wouldn't want to play games with frame interpolation on and those other brands you referenced that have true 12hz refresh. Those are the ones you want to play games because they can actually display 120fps

Im not a fan of the 200 herts/frames in a 60 hertz monitor lol. Been a while but just sounds like magic tricks kinda like when console use upscaled to fit a certain resolution and make it look not bad or fake. Thats what that is most likely the trick is more of a effect not a native hertz i know he said that my point is its not native and its just a software effect it aint good. Another example remember 1080i vs 1080p yea 1080i is just effect and was real native 1080p image. I wont buy thats just scummy bussines they try use words to try trick people and make it seem likes its good when its just skimpin out on technology and using easy cheap effect instead like this guy is talking like its awesome its not.

right 240hz on a 60hz panel, marketing BS at its best. 60hz is 60hz is 60hz. Furthermore Uled is not an actual technology but just a term hisense uses as an umbrella for all kinds of image manipulation. Qled on the other hand is actual different screen not just a marketing term. Do your research, you get what you pay for, in this case nothing.
