No, no it wasn’t. The MiG 25 was a shitbrick with a giant engine and powerful radar. It was an interceptor. And though the F-15 was made to combat the MiG-25 due to the record breaking performance in regards to speed and climb, as well as thoughts of it being a super-manoeuvrable platform (thanks to the large wingspan). However it turns out that you need large wings to make a whale fly, a common trait of highly manoeuvrable platforms. It was NOT a direct counterpart to the F-15.

It was estimated that this plane was akin to something of a superfighter. The F-15 was made as a response to this theoretical UFO-performance. However, once the Soviet pilot Viktor Belenko defected with his MiG-25 to a Japanese airbase, the plane was shipped to the US and thoroughly examined. There, they learned that it was not the super-fighter they had feared, but rather a heavy interceptor that could barely pull 3Gs on a Tuesday. The MiG-25 was purely an interceptor. It could go fast and theoretically intercept an SR-71, but that's IT.

They're calculated mistakes lmao. But no seriously, I play dcs as well and I love growling. I think growling is basically one of the best dcs youtubers out there. But that's the thing. In wt, the su-27 airframe slightly overperforms. Plus it's a more arcadey game so the physics aren't on point. I address my mistakes in entirety in the comments and especially as replies, just scroll through them if you have the time so you can understand my thinking at the time.

Show me US made games where US is a villain and Russia is shown as hero(not saying there won't be, but not a lot that we commonly know about). And as I a said, a lot of people in comments below did not address the mistakes of F15 pilot, such as taking Su 27 in one circle, trying to move away in 2 circle when the turn was getting tighter (ended up giving room to Su27 to shoot him). And I am not even an expert in aviation, just watching Growling Sidewinder videos, I have learned basic dogfighting, such as when to ditch a circle, or when to pull nose harder for the shot 😂. Funny note: The reason I hate people saying Russian bias is because I am soviet main and can still get killed in craziest possible ways. My KV2's 152 mm shell gets bounced off a stupid Stuart. The r-73 hmd combo is scary in this game. Flanker gameplay is just reactionary, like you react to your enemy and play like that, but with the f-15 it's a guessing game, like "Will he turn it into a one circle? Will he stall himself here?" Stuff like this. And believe me if I could I just stall myself with him I would, but even if I put engine power to 0 and turn the airbrake on, depending on my closure, I'll still be kind of dead. You need space in order to stop yourself. The flanker can just stop almost instantly. I had enough space like one time to stop myself before overshooting, and even that one time it ended up resetting the rate anyways. It's true though, I felt like I had no counter to these last second cobras. By the time I'm almost on his ass and pulling lead, he's just going up and stalling himself, and I just cannot follow him. The f-15 is very unresponsive at low speeds. Also people are bashing the fuck out of me in the comments lmao.

Idk if it’s just the flight model or accurate, but when you get slow or in in a turn fight with the flanker the nose doesn’t pull to your reticle has a delay or gravitational pull making it fly straight down.
And the energy is just out the ass with that thing, it’s a very close dogfight between the two, super balanced it all comes down to skill, and these guys put on a show

It does but it's hard to actually pull this off because 2 circle fight takes a long time giving other the chance to 3rd party you. The 27 also has HOBS which he can use to inst rate 180 and kill you. @@batlax18

It is understandable. There's only so much you can do in the eagle when the flanker can pull as much AOA as it wants. Yes, the eagle does outrate the flanker, but the moment you start going 1 circle is the moment you die. Which is why you can see that I just turn 180 in some of my merges, even if that means giving my ass to the enemy, because then at least I know I've forced a rate fight which I can maybe potentially win. Biggest example of this is the long round where I run out of fuel. I assure you I would've been dead turn 1 had I kept going on my turn. I can't just let the flanker push the 1 circle. It's an impossible fight.

Just talking about a few moments where there were some very obvious opportunities for both of you to get shots in that weren’t taken, getting into the merge at Mach 1.1, attempts at making things unnecessarily fancy, that kind of stuff. And I merged every time at about mach 0.7-0.8. Gaijin just updated the f-15 to pull juust a few more degrees at those speeds. And yeah as for fancy manouvers, I tried my best to just survive really... That's the thing, when you see the nose of the flanker, your new objective is: survive. So I was putting out flares and jinking around trying to have him miss as many bullets as possible

Cobras should be niche and hard to pull off, not just drag for your plane followed by easy recovery, if you get me. The cobra is a one trick horse, and especially at these low altitudes the flanker would've 9/10 crashed or entered a flat spin and crashed. But other than that and the bullshit r-73s with the 6 27er setup, I think the flanker is fine
The problem isn’t the jets it’s the weapons. F15 performance wise it’s ehh pretty good. Sparrows are practically useless at this point because it can be notched so easily for some reason. 9ms are useful but gaijin is refusing to let you have a good lock. F15 is simply not good anymore. You wanna fly low use f16. Fly high and bump missiles use f14. F15 doesn’t have a good position in top tier unless fox 3s are added but then gaijin will find another stupid way to nerf the fuck out of it. I would prob see a huge drop in players for western tech tree later on
True. If I had an hmd and aim-9x like the flanker (r-73/aim-9x whatever) i could've pulled off a lot more missiles. But as it is, I need to pull lead to even hope that the missile gets close to the enemy, while the flanker just hmd's that r-73 and shoots at high aspect.

Understandable. While me reversing my turns seems completely dumbass to do, it's the best chance I get. I try my hardest to keep that su-27 nose off of me. If I want to shoot a missile, I have to pull lead as if going for guns. The su-27 can just one circle high aspect r-73 shoot me down. So yes, I understand why you're saying I wasn't doing the best, but believe me it's a difference between certain death and potential death.

I can tell you the result. It's highly dependent on the pilot flying it and the controls mode in war thunder. I've had 1v1s in which I completely stomp the f-14 in my 15 every round, but if the pilot knows what they're doing and uses every trick in the book, it can both pull better instant turn (1 circle), better sustained turn (2 circle) and it can do flanker style turn reversing.
I really dont understand 9M. Like it turns the seeker off, ok.... what the fuck dictates what the seeker sees first when it reopens. By intertia it should look at the point of interception, but it doesnt, it just fucking reaquires?? (in wt at least). Like the flaring of 9M is not to fool it, it is instead to put it in a position where it doesn't have energy to pull back into you. Which is fckd up cuz of how much energy you spend trying to get this shit off of you. By logic, when it re-opens the seeker it would look at the last point known and there would be nothing, meanwhile in wt it re-opens and searches and finds a fucking plane throught the entirety of its gimbal limit as if its AI powered to know what is a plane and on which axis is the plane.

I'm not necessarily looking for him to show which aircraft is 'better' but at least a show to illustrate "These are this aircraft's strengths" and as we see. But you see a giant showcase halfway through that the F-15 utterly outrates the Su-27, which _should_ clue the F-15 pilot in but he still completely shits the bed. instead we get the same ol same ol. "Let me 1 circle, over shoot because my plane accelerates really well compared to my opponent, then get shot down and die." There's a difference between watching a dude win because of sheer skill and luck and by skin of your teeth. It's another when the dude is a bumbling around the entire time.
Hi. I'm the person who flew the f-15. I totally understand why you'd think I was being an utter dumbass, and in some places yes, I did do mistakes. Because unlike the flanker, the eagle does not forgive in these instances. Why I'd reverse my turn when I see the flanker coming in 1 circle with me? Because having a flanker on my ass so I can outrate him is better than being stuck in a 1 circle I WILL LOSE. And as for turn rate specifically, yes, on paper the f-15 does have better turn rate, but the flanker's nose goes wherever you want it to go. It does not matter, if you don't manage to start the fight in a 2 circle you don't have a lot of chances for a 2 circle after. As for a/d-ing, I did it and will continue to do it in order to pull up at the last second when I see the enemy pulling lead so he can't follow me up and shoot me. If I hadn't done that in those instances, I would've been dead before I could even pull off my strategy. I'm open to discussions, but try to keep it civil please.
Cope and seethe. There is a reason why American pilots were strictly prohibited in engaging Soviet jets in dogfights after the reunification of Germany. NATO got to see what the Fulcrum can do and in a mock dogfight it absolutely shat on anything NATO could throw at it. That is also when they got their first look into the archer program which started to alarm a lot of bells. It was a lot better close range missile and 10-20 years ahead of NATO FOX 2 missile technology.

If I want to shoot a missile, I have to pull lead as if going for guns. The su-27 can just one circle high aspect r-73 shoot me down. So yes, I understand why you're saying I wasn't doing the best, but believe me it's a difference between certain death and potential death.
@@snowi9585 i understand that thought process and wasn’t saying you did bad infact after now dueling my one of my friends in 4th gens I am less confident but I think your errors were more with the set up and less with anything after. I simply feel I might be able to find a better way of winning against the Su-27 in that sense

I can tell you the result. It's highly dependent on the pilot flying it and the controls mode in war thunder. I've had 1v1s in which I completely stomp the f-14 in my 15 every round, but if the pilot knows what they're doing and uses every trick in the book, it can both pull better instant turn (1 circle), better sustained turn (2 circle) and it can do flanker style turn reversing.

I really dont understand 9M. Like it turns the seeker off, ok.... what the fuck dictates what the seeker sees first when it reopens. By intertia it should look at the point of interception, but it doesnt, it just fucking reaquires?? (in wt at least). Like the flaring of 9M is not to fool it, it is instead to put it in a position where it doesn't have energy to pull back into you. Which is fckd up cuz of how much energy you spend trying to get this shit off of you. By logic, when it re-opens the seeker it would look at the last point known and there would be nothing, meanwhile in wt it re-opens and searches and finds a fucking plane throught the entirety of its gimbal limit as if its AI powered to know what is a plane and on which axis is the plane.

@@RedTail1-1 I've continuously not trusted AeroTurtle's dogfight videos due to the fact that the people he fights with make stupidly obvious mistakes. I'm not necessarily looking for him to show which aircraft is 'better' but at least a show to illustrate "These are this aircraft's strengths" and as we see. The F-15 pilot completely drops the ball to such an extent that it's nearly comical. But you see a giant showcase halfway through that the F-15 utterly outrates the Su-27, which _should_ clue the F-15 pilot in but he still completely shits the bed. instead we get the same ol same ol. "Let me 1 circle, over shoot because my plane accelerates really well compared to my opponent, then get shot down and die."
There's a difference between watching a dude win because of sheer skill and luck and by skin of your teeth. It's another when the dude is a bumbling around the entire time.
Hi. I'm the person who flew the f-15. I totally understand why you'd think I was being an utter dumbass, and in some places yes, I did do mistakes. Because unlike the flanker, the eagle does not forgive in these instances. Why I'd reverse my turn when I see the flanker coming in 1 circle with me? Because having a flanker on my ass so I can outrate him is better than being stuck in a 1 circle I WILL LOSE.
And as for turn rate specifically, yes, on paper the f-15 does have better turn rate, but the flanker's nose goes wherever you want it to go. It does not matter, if you don't manage to start the fight in a 2 circle you don't have a lot of chances for a 2 circle after.
As for a/d-ing, I did it and will continue to do it in order to pull up at the last second when I see the enemy pulling lead so he can't follow me up and shoot me. If I hadn't done that in those instances, I would've been dead before I could even pull off my strategy.

Cope and seethe. There is a reason why American pilots were strictly prohibited in engaging Soviet jets in dogfights after the reunification of Germany. NATO got to see what the Fulcrum can do and in a mock dogfight it absolutely shat on anything NATO could throw at it. That is also when they got their first look into the archer program which started to alarm a lot of bells. It was a lot better close range missile and 10-20 years ahead of NATO FOX 2 missile technology.
