The difference is that Jolibee has incredible customer evangelism. For McDonald's, Americans aren't walking around introducing it. But I have multiple times been introduced to Jolibee by Filipino friends - the customers actively recruit.
Somehow this made me think that you met a cult who worship a big red bee. HAHAHA
Well, with McDonald's it's been around in the US so long and globally we assume everyone knows about it. Hell, they've been in China since the 1990s.
@@Italsik You know too much....
@@Italsikno but also yes.
For me, I just have an acquired taste for specific menu that I wouldn't get anywhere else. I would never send any foreigner to Jolibee for "Pasta". That said, I would go there everyday for Jolibee Spaghetti. Nobody does Filipino Spaghetti like they do.
@Company Man: One of Jollibee's strategies to counter McDonald's in the Philippines was to open two of their branches in the vicinity of any newly opened McDonald's branches. This allowed them to directly compete with McDonald's and maintain market share.
Brilliant that!
Yeah. Plus the fact that it might also come with a CHOWKING 🥡 branch, making it a 2v1 😆
That is why countries have anti-monopoly (US: anti-trust) laws as opening addtional locations primarily to thwart competition is almost certainly predatory.

There's also Jollibee brances in Vietnam.
They try to incorporate staple dishes of the specific country into their menu. Wait til you see the menu of Jollibee in Vietnam.
Cali resident here, not Filipino, but there is a Jolibees in my area and their chickenjoy is great. The Spaghetti is indeed quite different from other options, but the really unique item has to be the Palabok. The funny part is this Jollibees is inside what's considered to be a major Chinatown, so the Palabok is directly competing with other rice noodle variants, and yet it's really good. I'd definitely recommend this place
Filipino here. How amusing it is the Palabok is actually directly competing with authentic Chinese joints. Haha cool! 🙌😂
Yea the jolly spaghetti really is aimed for kids as Filipinos serve during birthday celebration 🎊
Well, I think palabok is different enough from other Asian rice noodle dishes.
Glad you like Jollibee’s palabok. A Chinese American coworker of mine in California didn’t find it good.
@@desert-fax-only yes because it's mid, if they could only make pancit malabon instead of palabok it'll be great
I'm from Georgia and married into a Filipino family. I can honestly say, Filipino food would BLOW. UP. In the US if they could market it here better. The food is amazing, most of it is something that appeals to comfort food and things you'd find in the South.
Jollibee itself, I've launched essentially a one man campaign to get them to open in Georgia, all the flavors there, meet or beat out anything you'd find in the local fast food industry.
One man campaign, hell yeah❤
you mean a one *bee* army? I'll see myself to the nearest Jollibee...
I'm not Filipino, but I've found Jollibee to be fascinating since I found out about the chain back in 2020. To an American like me, the menu feels like a mishmash of different familiar items while still doing enough of their own thing to not get lost in the sea of other fast-food chains.
If one happens to open in my area, I would definitely love to go and check it out for myself since there are some items that I find myself getting excited to try.
Jollibee is Filipinized American food
The common take on Jollibee was, the jolly spaghetti, seeing it's sweet approach and hotdog being aimed for kids.

*Adobo rice (only available in the US) and palabok are one of the notable exceptions. The main country branches usually offer something novel every few months then vanish a few weeks later.
I'm Filipino and it's crazy how fast word of mouth Jolibee has gotten in the last few years
You may or may not have a Five Nights at Freddy’s fangame to thank for that
As a Filipino myself, the FNAF game really did Jolibee dirty.
@@poweroffriendship2.0 Genuinely asking here, is that a joke about it being a horror game, or does the restaurant look way different in the game than they do in real life?

The bee thumbnail brought me back much of forgotten memories when I was a little boy living in the refugee camp in Palawan. The refugee camp rescued many Vietnamese boat people fleeing the country after the Vietnam war. I remembered I kept looking at the bee mascot while riding on a bus somewhere in Manila, at the time I didn’t know what the bee was about. Great video!

Interestingly, Jollibee also see a considerably success at Vietnam, with not entirely relying on Filipino identity. Only Chickenjoy and Jolly Spaghetti are retained on Jollibee Vietnam menu, while the rest of Filipino menu that might largely unknown among Vietnamese are not offered. Jollibee at Vietnam also has slightly different approach, by placed greater emphasises on fried chicken (Understandably business decision, since Vietnam is infamously well known for being hostile on burger chain. McDonald's and Burger King, for example, are barely have success at Vietnam). Together with KFC and Lotteria, Jollibee become one of most successful fast food chain in Vietnam.
Based on these fact, I'm pretty sure Jollibee can expanding into another country without heavily relying on Filipino identity.
Well shit now I'm curious to see what kinds of menu Jollibee Vietnam has
British here but visited Philippines likes 15 years ago with a Filipino friend, and my 1st experience. I really liked the brand and food, and it was iconic even then. I hope they continue to do well.
Being a Filipino-American here in Washington, watching it open up from the California to the Washington area was a godsend! Combine it with the big Filipino base here, it's no surprise they're doing so well! My family opened up our Filipino grocery store and through the word of mouth, also got us a foothold in the Filipino community through just being ourselves and our culture. So yeah cheers Jollibee! You inspire small Filipino businesses like us here in Washington!

Burger has some kind of boiled egg sauce on it… it was nasty 😅 chicken was delicious.

@@TruthOverAgenda-u7o wtf is that boiled egg sauce lol must be a us jollibee thing.
I literally just had Jollibee for the first time yesterday for lunch! I went cause my friend tried it for the first time a coupe days ago and I was so interested to partake myself. I'm so glad I stopped by yesterday cause I really enjoyed it. I wanted to try so many things, but I decided to keep simple with a 2 piece chicken with 2 sides (rice and mashed potatoes). Pouring some of that magical gravy in the white steamed rice alone is enough for me to come back. I cant wait to be back next weekend to try an other menu item!
By the way, I live down here in Houston, Texas.
Something that had me in shock was just how many Filipino's I saw inside the restaurant and that kept coming in. For a moment I thought...wait a minute am I am the only Mexican in here and it was so fun to feel like that. Jolibee has super support from Filipinos it's amazing. Clearly, the location was perfectly paced there. It's near the medical center. Can't wait to tell more people I know about Jollibee!
Bro you gotta try their peach mango pie. I buy like 30 of those and freeze them..shit is addicting
Try the Fiesta Palabok too, make sure to squeeze the calamansi or lemon then stir it until the magic sauce covers the glass noodles.
Tried Jollibee for the first time a couple years ago when I moved to LA from Texas and I was automatically hooked! Everything is delicious!!! Everything is better than any other chicken spots I’ve had, it’s even better than KFC!!!! I love me my Jollibee~😋
"Mang Inasal" is pronounced more like "mung eena sal"
One thing that's very important to recognize that I feel like wasn't taken a proper look at isn't just that they aim for neighborhoods with a larger amount of Filipinos, but that a very large chunk of the Filipino economy is held up by OFWs, Overseas Filipino Workers.
Thanks to the Philippines having a large export of OFWs (majority seafarers and nurses, iirc) and because of the strong cultural emphasis on family, Jollibee rakes in a lot of Filipinos who have a hard time finding food from home that is also incredibly recognizable, especially since most other kinds of Filipino food are more involved with their prep compared to a fast food chain like Jollibee modeled after American fast food.

Same, and they have a bathroom lol
I live in the Philippines, and based on all the reviews I get to watch on YT regarding Jollibee, I am absolutely jealous of the quality of the food you get there vs what we get here.

I visited Arizona's first Jolibee just a couple weeks ago with a friend of mine who insisted we try it as it's integral to her Filipino culture, and it did NOT disappoint! I had the full experience and tried their ChickenJoy, Burger Steak, Jolly Spaghetti and Peach Mango Pie! I was delighted by the flavors and was really surprised by how sweet the spaghetti was. Hands down, the ChickenJoy really knocked it out of the park and would be a solid reccomendation for anyone wanting to try it for the first time! It's exciting to hear they're looking to expand internationally, I'm hoping they'll build a closer location here soon!!
I live in NYC but grew up in Toronto, Canada, where it seems to be expanding pretty quickly. I first saw it when visiting family, but at the time there were only two locations, and the lineups were ridiculous. I finally got to try it a few years later on another visit. I was going for the spaghetti since I couldn’t think of another fast food shop that served it. It beat expectations. I’ve since gone back for the chicken, and it’s pretty good!

I went to Malaysia with my father and my cousin. Malaysia is a nice place to visit.
One of the most genius thing Jolibee has ever done in my opinion is how you can smell their chicken some distance from the store. They do this on purpose to activate peoples appetite due to its mouthwatering smell and get them to eat on their stores.
They also strategically place some of their stores on bus/transportation stops so you can smell jolibee chikenjoy as soon as you come down from the vehicle. Genius!
I distinctly remember driving home on a PACKED busy 4-lane 2-way street full of smog and pollution and somehow smelling chicken. I turn and see a Jollibee on the other side of the street with its door open.
You can smell a Jollibee before you can see it. In fact some locations have two Jollibees next to each other just to keep with demand.
Wait, that's done on purpose? I always thought it was just the kitchen exhaust's fault. Pretty smart if they're doing it intentionally.
@@thespianmask8451 Yes. Both the big Jollibee symbol and the smell of chicken are both intentional to activate your cravings using visual and olfactory senses. If you can see it and smell it, you will most definitely want to eat it.
Also, mind you that both strategies are copied from KFC (aroma marketing) and McDonald's (guerilla marketing). So it's not like they're the ones to only do it. But implementing those captured the heart of Filipino customers who would otherwise opt for foreign brands.
@@Nolimetangere5467 the logo is obvious in its purpose. Seen it my whole life. Everywhere I go there's a Jollibee.
Never though the smell of the fried chicken from way outside the store was intentional though.
All this talking about it has made me want to order some now.
I'm in Canada, and a Jollibee recently opened near me. I've been meaning to check it out, and now I'm even more curious to try it...
Another good thing (for us Filipinos at least), is that when they serve breakfast, they don't stop serving the regular menu. Breakfast becomes a bonus choice for early risers instead of an imposed selection (looking at you, McD.)

After getting home from work I was unsure what I wanted for dinner and this video by @CompanyMan popped into my feed. I never heard of Jollibee so I was intrigued to learn more even after dating a Filipina. I then learned I was one of the lucky US Residents who had one less than 15 minutes away from me so decided it's what I should get for dinner. I had their 3 Chicken platter (two normal and one spicy) with two sides and their peach mango pie. The chicken by itself was good and competitive to other known US brands. To be honest, I didn't really taste the difference between normal and spicy though and I am wimp when it comes to spicy foods. What really sets Jollibee apart is their gravy. I was not expecting it to go well with the chicken and french fries, but it turned the meal into a an excellent one for the value. I also enjoyed the Peach Mango Pie for dessert. I will go back in the future and try their pasta or burger next time. Thanks Company Man for getting me to try a new restaurant and deciding my dinner tonight!
i have no ties to the philippines but i can attest that jollibee is incredible. the food is just really fresh and stands out- the jolly spaghetti and peach mango pie are to die for! i hope to see one in my area soon, as i had it for the first time in the bay area.
I've had Jollibee in NYC and in the Philippines when I went to visit. I liked the chicken more in America than in the Philippines, but the spaghetti was great in both countries. The service is pretty good, and you're right about it being everywhere in the Philippines. It felt like there was a Jollibee every few blocks. I should try that cake too.
They opened one in Orlando, and I couldn't wait to try something new. It's the first time I've had 'spicy' fried chicken that was actually SPICY. It was great! The only thing I saw as a negative was that they don't make their spicy chicken sandwich with their spicy fried chicken coating. They use their regular chicken patty and add siracha mayo and jalapenos.
It’s remarkable how much the Filipino immigrant community plays a role in propping up Jollibee in the US.
My family’s been pretty stingy on expenses in general, but when it comes to Jollibee, spending 200+ dollars is the norm (a large part of that is bringing it back to Upstate NY)
Besides that anecdote, Jollibee’s upbringing in the US is fairly unique, where any non-American chain usually phases out.
- Fairly unique menu items from a country where their cuisine are often overlooked, meaning that American competitors are often disinterested in Americanizing Filipino dishes (Panda Express or Taco Bell for Chinese/Mexican food for example)
- Having a high immigrant population fairly spread out the US (most often or not due to working visas)
- Continuing immigration from the Philippines, Jollibees is automatically the “Home away from Home”
Thd only people that go there are Philipinos.
I went there once and it was soon apparent that we were the only non-philipinos there.
Jollibee has gone massively downhill in Canada already mainly due to a change in their spicy chicken recipe. It used to be this amazing powder that had a unique flavour, but then they changed it to injecting an orange marinade inside the chicken which I found to sometimes dry out the chicken. I was absolutely gutted when I tried the new version. I’m still convinced their old spicy chicken recipe would’ve easily taken over a the uncontested best fried chicken chain. Now I’m indifferent to going there or Popeyes, but I used to make the 30-40 minute drive out to Jollibee despite there being Popeyes + Church’s + Mary Browns all within a 5 minute radius of me.
The peach mango pie and pineapple quenchers are still amazing though.
oh yeah, this happened in the Philippines too. my mom got really sad about it as well bc she liked the powder version better than the marinade.
No comment I also prefer the old one with their powder spice
I love Filipino culture and hope to visit the Philippines one day. I tried Jollibee in Los Angeles earlier this year since I was always curious about it. The fried chicken was great and tasted how I felt fried chicken should taste. The spaghetti was great too, different from what I am used to. I hope more locations open in the USA soon.
Married to a Filipina here in New York and when we go to the Jollibee in neighboring Queens it's like Heaven! The Chickenjoy is amazing!😁
I'm American and half Filipino and live in Chicago with a Jollibee 10 mins away. My family makes sure they get Jolibee every time they come in town (even during Thanksgiving weekend) and my fiance and several friends who've had it says it's definitely the best chicken out there. It helps represent the culture, naturally joyous outlook and energy with exceptional hospitality and wanting to spread the joy through great eats!
I tried Jollibee when I was on holiday in Edinburgh, Scotland. Aside from very poor service (ended up waiting 15 minutes for a pre-prepared order) the food was amazing, I've been wanting one to open up in the Brighton area ever since. The spicy fried chicken is great, and their loaded fries are really good with the spring onion and sriracha mayo. I definitely think they have the appeal to become one of the big fast food players if they can keep the quality of their food up. Speaking in terms of the UK, we only have one large chain for fried chicken which is KFC, so there is definitely room in the market for another. I also think their diverse menu is a huge bonus, since the only places that do burgers and fried chicken tend to be low quality takeouts. I think that nowadays westerners are far more open to foods from other ethnicities than they used to be, like no one would believe 20 years ago that taco bell would be becoming one of the UK's most popular fast food restaurant chains. I'm not surprised that they're mainly looking at America, but the UK seems like it'd be a really strong market for them given the large south asian population and communities in the country, I feel like it'd be an easier and more hospitable market than the US.
The Jollibee near me here in Edison, NJ sux. When they opened it was OK but haven't been back there in many months. After the pandemic they still had the inside dining area closed, so you could only order online or in the drive-thru which had a line so long the police had to come and make sure the last person in line wouldn't get hit by a car zooming by since the line would take up the right lane of route 1. Then they stopped taking online orders, the app works but when you go to checkout it says "Sorry, online ordering for this location isn't available." 🤷🏻♂️ Then they closed the drive-thru. 🤷🏻♂️ Now you can go inside to order because there is no other way to order. Last couple times I ordered the Chickenjoy it was undercooked and I had to finish it in my air fryer at home. 🤷🏻♂️ Also, they charge you white meat prices but they don't use any breasts. Now if I want fried chicken I go to Popeyes. Never had an issue, I don't think I'll be going back to Jollibee unless they have those seasonal jack fruit pies, I forgot what they're called.
Do your McDonald's not have fried chicken? In the Philippines they also sell Chicken with rice i guess to compete with Jollibee.
@@JadeMythriil in the USA its chicken nuggets but that's just small side like french fries. I don't think I remember Chicken sold at all. But Jolibee should be competing against KFC and other chicken based resturants. McDonalds' main is the burgers and french fries.
Went to Edinburgh two months ago and tried Jollibee, wasn’t as good as I was expecting it to be. Heard from my friends that it isn’t the best Jollibee location they’ve gone to either. Loads of stuff I was looking forward to on the menu wasn’t there like the yum burger and the hotdog and the burger steak with rice. So glad they had the peach mango pie tho. The chicken itself wasn’t bad but it wasn’t the best I’d had from a Jollibee either. The service when I went was alright, only thing that bugged me was the rowdy group of teenagers sat at the table next to us. It was cool that the seating downstairs had chargers on the table too. I haven’t gone to the Jollibee in london but people have said it’s much better than the one Edinburgh. The one in Milan is much nicer too- they had the aloha burger and it was class. Would love to go to America and try the Jollibees there. Apparently the menus in the US have different items like the adobo rice that doesn’t exist on the menu in the Philippines

I'm from LA, the 2nd American city to have a Jollibee opened. My entire childhood I saw the one Jollibee in my area first as some independent fast food place unique to LA. Later I found out it was Filipino and quite big in the Philippines. After that I, and every other non-Filipino just shrugged and figured,"There's a big Filipino enclave here, makes sense they'd open one."
It's been fascinating to see this "Know-nothing, podung, Filipino McDonald's" suddenly *explode* in popularity and thus turn me into a hipster because
I liked Jollibee before it was cool 🤓
I heard of Jollibee for the first time a couple months ago, and the first time I tried it, it immediately became my favorite chicken place. Their Spicy Chicken Joy was the best chicken I had ever had, and Chicken is my favorite food.
As a Filipino, I am quite happy that Jollibee is getting international recognition. However, I must admit that I am dismayed since their prices have gone up considerably.
As a local growing up in the 90s, all kinds of people from all walks of life would dine in Jollibee. Now though, it's tough for someone like me who I consider to be in the middle class to comfortably afford to eat there at a whim. I remember growing up, we'd dine there 3 or 4 times a week. The prices were very accessible back then.
Now though, it's rather tough for a lower-income family to eat at Jobi. It is now somewhat reserved for more special occasions. I know, inflation and all. Just sucks that it is now out of reach for most of us.
The burger steak patties are so small nowadays, but cost more. Same with their other menu items. I loved Jollibee, but them playing the shrinkflation game is just a low blow for me.

@@OurLordandSaviorSigmar I think them doing the whole throwback marketing is a dick move too.
I remember when the Ultimate Burger steak launched, it was set at a very good price of 119 pesos. Fries, Egg, Supreme patty, and Garlic Rice, and Drink.
They canceled that for a few years and used the power of nostalgia to bring it back and draw customers to its current price of 210.
That's almost a 77% price increase in a span of 5 years.

I tried Jolibee for the first time last week when I was in Texas, and it's hands-down the best fried chicken I've ever had at a fast food place! The gravy should be it's own food group too!
Dat gravy!
Omg I forgot about the gravy so good
Probably obscure, but you just made a twister reference
Gravy is horrid
lol I sure did. I was wondering if anyone would catch that. @@gritynity
Filipino guy here, so darn happy to see Jollibee becoming popular. It's already got two locations where I live in Canada that popped up in the past 2 years with more on the way. I couldn't be more happy :D
Any canada specific items in your Jolibee?
So happy ,Then go back to that back in times country!
Ya I live near the one that opened in Ajax
Jollibee's chicken is so good, and the fact that it's a cheap fast food chain (and they serve rice) is amazing! Anytime I see Jollibees at a mall food court, it's my first choice!
I fell in love with Jollibee on my first trip to the Philippines years ago. I would love to have one in my community here in the US.
I’m Canadian, born and raised; and my nesting partner is Cambodian - we’re up in North York one time and she’s like ‘omigosh babe let’s go to Jolibee’s’, and of course I’m just like ‘…what the heck’s a Jolibee’s’ - she says it’s fried chicken and spaghetti, I’m like ‘okay that’s a bizarre combination of things to sell’, but we get there and the line is practically halfway out the door, easily as popular as the Chick-Fil-A’s… (which, us being lesbians, aren’t exactly fans of)
I gotta say, I didn’t know what to expect but the video asks if it’s good enough to compete with KFC or Popeye’s - honestly it *far* exceeds the quality even for the value compared to both of them, and while I don’t eat at Chick-Fil-A it does seem to be just as popular.
If you eat meat and want to try something new or just better quality, I highly suggest giving Jolibee’s a go. The chicken is fantastic and I even liked the little mashed potato side. :)
You mean New York? You said North York
@@blineded ...no...I mean North York, lol. it's a suburb of Toronto:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_York
I live in Washington and Jollibee is a HUGE deal here. There's very few around (thought some new ones are coming) and the line is always so long! My wife is Filipino and we always get Jollibee for our family parties
I'm in Southern California and have been eating Jollibee for 15+ years. That said, it's tricky to predict how it will play in the United States in general. They likely see an opening with the combined retraction of KFC stateside and the growth of Popeyes restaurants. The problem, I think, is that it will need to develop its own unique identity outside of that if it wants to succeed because it just isn't competing with Popeye's too well on quality of the product. I don't believe spaghetti is enough to differentiate itself, and it is viewed by most Americans as a cheap at-home staple. And the burgers are not known to be lifechanging. Here in CA, that's a hypercompetitive market that never took notice of an especially quality burger in Jollibee. In order to succeed, Jollibee should lean into its interesting international backstory and introduce items that might surprise customers a little more than their standard fare in appearance and taste profile.
Offer lumpia??
@@jorgesalazar818no
@@jorgesalazar818they can't even offer lumpia in ph without bundling it with the hideous burger steak (strangely I loved it as a teen but now it's disgusting 😂)
in 25 years jollibee managed to open only 75 outlets in the us. by that precedent it will have 150 outlets by 2048 😂😅
I need a Jollibee In my state. The closest one to me, I saw that the menu has been toned down. I want the flavors of the Philippines at my Filipino burger chain. I hope they decide to hold on to their national identity as they continue to spread internationally.
I finally got to try this in Houston and I was definitely satisfied with my experience. I was really interested in this place because I only heard about it a couple years ago and the menu options seemed really crazy but also intriguing. I didn’t think I would try the Pineapple quencher because I thought it was going to be some generic pineapple drink from concentrate but it was exceptional. By far my favorite thing on the menu.. it reminded me of Hawaii. The chicken was also really good and the Mango Peach pie was soo good. You can actually taste the peach in it and it was FILLED. The only thing I wouldn’t necessarily recommend is the spaghetti but if you want to go right ahead. I’m just not partial to the contents or the sweetness of it. The palabok was pretty good too, I reccomend making it spicy tho. Next time I go, I’m wanting to try the yum burger.
Speaking for the rest of the locals here as they're making the buzz abroad: They're chickening out on the food quality here. Tiny chickens, little pasta, numbered fries, half filled sundaes, and so on. A lot of us can't just let go of Jollibee because of the sentimental value that it holds for many of us. Ja'bee was built around the Filipino taste. It is ironic how they wear Filipino identity on their cheek but are not embodying the common Filipino proverb of remembering where you came from, otherwise, they'd never reach the destination they are right now.
for anyone trying out jollibee for the first time after seeing this video, their burger is quite the umami-bomb. The yumburger is quite a good entry point but it could leave you asking for more, but if your area carries the Champ (their quarter pound burger) it could be quite overwhelming. I suggest asking for the cheesy yumburger (their regular ol cheese burger) with an additional patty. I’ve been ordering this combo withe fries on the side for years. It goes perfectly with rootbeer too if any of ya’ll are into it.
I tell you thats the ONLY beef burger i can eat. All other fast food chain taste so bland
open a yumburger in a crowded train >:)
I’ve had Jollibee a couple of times while visiting Chicago and I can tell you that not only can their chicken compete with KFC and Popeyes but it blows them both away. I wish we had them in my city.
I think Louisiana fried chicken taste a little better. Since I like spicy
@@BlueRice Nah. That spicy chicken they make well give you indigestion.
@@BlueRice The Jollibee that I had was spicier than Popeyes.
Is KFC good there? In Canada it's literally the worst fast food, inedible dry chicken
@@zomfgeclipse KFC isn’t good anywhere that I’ve ever been. Well, unless you’re talking about a case of diarrhea. It’s good for that.
It's amazing on how much Filipino (if not Asian) cuisines and ingredients are being "discovered" here in the US. From ube, halo-halo, lumpia, etc..
I personally hope that Jolibee doesn't change the recipes for its top dishes - spaghetti, burger, and fries chicken, just to cater to foreign customers.
I don't mind if they do. There's still Jollibee in the Philippines and it's not like McDonald's didn't change their menu to cater to Filipino tastes (i.e. rice, spaghetti, etc.)
Spaghetti, burgers, and fried chicken aren't "Asian cuisine" lol. It's an Asian brand, sure, by a Chinese immigrant, living in the Philippines.
@@sor3999 But the way those dishes are made are specifically for Filipino tastes, such as the spaghetti being sweet and having hot dog pieces in it.
One of the things I love about this channel is hearing about places I've never been to or heard of. I drive from Oregon to Texas once a year, and I get to visit many of these states that have restaurants that I've never been to.
Had my interview for a new location opening of Jollibee near me! Got the job. Start my training in the morning 😁
I tried their chicken when I visited the Philippines, I'd absolutely take their chicken over others. Can't wait to see them closer to home, speaking as an American. Love the videos, waiting for next Wednesday!
I'm half Filipino (on my mom's side), but I actually found out about Jollibee when one was built nearby. It's one of my favorite places, and I got super excited to find this video on their planned expanse. I hope they succeed without losing track of their core tenet of the Jollibee name. Everyone deserves to try their food.
If you ever do get to visit one, be sure to get their peach-mango pie and pineapple quencher. Best things to ever exist!
I live with my Filipina wife in Quebec. When we go to Toronto, she often stops at the Jollibee there, and buys chicken to bring back to her friends here, even though it is 8 hours drive away.
Omg Quebec! I live here too and the one Jolibee location in Toronto is iconic
@@jinaeasmr4196 There are 13 Jollibee locations in Ontario, all of them in the Greater Toronto Area. I've never had it, but will have to try it some time, as I do enjoy both burgers and fried chicken. Interestingly, though, in Canada they just call the chicken "Jolly Crispy Chicken", and there is no mention of crispylicious or juicylicious, just crispy and juicy. They do call the burgers Yumburgers, though.
Gotta represent and support Filipino businesses
Worked in Jollibee as my first Job. The food handling and safety standards are insane, basically pass the Jollibee food safety and handling inspection, passing the US health department inspection would be a walk in the park
There is a Jollibee near me (conveniently located next to Seafood City at Southcenter mall) and it is always packed with a long line. I've not ever tried it myself because of the lines but based on that alone I'd say that demand is pretty high and the Seattle area could easily support more than the 2 stores it currently has. But the fast food market here is very competitive with several large local chains on top of the national ones so their current cautious approach is probably the best one.
I had never heard of this until I saw your video pop on on Wednesday. On a road trip to NYC I ended up going through Edison NJ on Friday and sure enough I saw one. I’m just now able to sit down and watch this.
I tried them about a month ago, and it was absolutely delicious! Only the only issue is that it's 30 minutes away from me, so I probably won't get it often unless they expand a bit closer.
Some Filipinos in the US would call you lucky. They travel hours away just to get their fix without going all the way to the Philippines. You can tell who they are from the coolers they put their orders in.
Jolibee is genuinely my favorite fast food restaurant for chicken, it's amazing, and I'm glad they're growing in the United States. I tried their Times Square location twice and it was so outstanding both trips!
Not Filipino, but my wife is. I’d love to see Jollibee open up some locations here in central Ohio. Wendy’s was founded and is headquartered here and a lot of fast food companies use us as a test market for new products. Jollybee is always delicious whenever we are visiting the Philippines (for being fast food that is) and is more Americanized types of foods vs Filipino type food and I think they could do really well here across the entire country
Your wife is Filipino? I just started learning about Jollibee months ago, and only know a fair amount about the Filipino culture. But, It would be nice to have some locations of the chain in Ohio.

Another thing. The Jollibee mascot is popular with kids. I always see toddlers hug the Jollibee welcoming statue before entering.
This is one of my favorite videos you’ve made this year. Typically, you focus on companies from the US, so I’m excited to see you expand into the international market
What stands out to me is Jollibee customers’ loyalty. My local Jollibee had lineups for months after it opened. It was impossible to get anything without waiting in line for hours.
mostly Kids eat at jollibee
I grew up in the Midwest but with a Filipino family on our street. The mom could cook like nobody else. Her food was the best. She and her children were very sweet. That culture produces happy people. But to get Jollibee I have to drive five hours to Chicago where there are at least three Jollibee locations. We also get Jollibee on our visits to Maui. Anyway, I sure hope they expand into Missouri. They have the best fried chicken on the planet--better than Popeyes, KFC, and Churches. And the Jollibee chicken comes with gravy (even though it doesn't need it; the gravy is quite good).
I swear Springfield has so many fast food chains, I'm surprised Springfield hasn't had a Jolibee yet.
nope. chicken + gravy + rice + coke is the bomb. otherwise it's sacrilege.
I had a bit of a lukewarm response to the Jollibee (some food items didn't agree with me) in Skokie, IL, but the thing that got me was the adobo rice and the peach mango deep fried pies - the pies reminded me of the old McDonald's deep fried apple pies that were AWESOME, and not today's baked crap. Gonna go back for the spaghetti, palabok noodles, and more pies! Oh, and the quenchers are very sweet but very refreshing. Nice place, clean, and the crew there were cool. We need more Jollibee restaurants!!!
Canadian here. I had heard about Jollibee on a trip to Winnipeg in the late 2010s which was (at the time) one of the few locations open in Canada. My friends and I were all impressed by the food as our friend from Winnipeg insisted their chicken kicked the tar out of KFC and I was surprised to find Burgers and Pasta on the menu (the Spaghetti was indeed sweeter than what I had tried before) and when I heard they were expanding to my city (Regina) years later I got excited. I've yet to visit the location here but I've heard great things from the people I know who have. I can definitely understand the culture thing about it as my friend who took us there in Winnipeg mentioned how big they were in the Philippines and how prideful the people there are of it. It reminds me of how much we Canadians will stan for Tim Hortons except Jollibee hasn't made its stuff crappier tasting in the name of expansion.
AS A MAN FROM DALY CITY WHO'S BEEN WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS FOR HALF A DECADE NOW I NEVER THOUGHT I'D HEAR YOU SAY DALY CITY WHAT AN AMAZING DAY!!!!!
I had never tried Jollibee until last year but let me tell you after trying it I will not miss an opportunity to go back anytime I’m in an area that has one. I’ve only ever tried the chicken joy & desert pies but both of those are enough to keep me going back to Jollibee. Don’t even get me started on their creamy sriracha sauce. They’re also a super clean establishment & the employees are always very efficient. All of my friends know that I’m a big fan of Jollibee & some have even became fans too. It sounds exaggerated but they are seriously the only fast food chain that I still love.
Jollibee opened in my city a few years ago. Their fried chicken is awesome and I find it lasts longer than other brands when you do a takeout bucket (doesnt get soggy, stays hotter longer). The spicy fried chicken is especially good. The spaghetti... it must he an acquired taste. I was told it was a must try but yeah, it's something I can just make at home but wouldnt.
traditional filipino spaghetti has added sugar and hotdogs.
yeah Jollibee's spaghetti isn't for everyone. if you're used to the original (Italian) style, then the filipino style will definitely not register to your tastebuds lol.
@@Tomoya778 true, I mean if I was at someone's house and they served it to me I'd enjoy it, but I wouldn't pay takeout prices to eat it.
I used to live in the San Jose area and that was my first exposure to Jolibee. I love Filipino food and had heard great things about Jollibee. That chicken certainly sparks joy. It is definitely a contender against major fried chicken chain. Plus I also sparked my love of halo halo.
The definitely have made savvy business decisions with their acquisitions. Jolibee should remain the flagship brand and has the potential for broad based appeal. I hope we get a location in the Denver area soon.
For anyone new to Jollies I can't recommend them enough. The quality of the food is consistent, the service is friendlier than most, and it's menu stands out. I live in Cali and I've eaten there so much the novelty has worn off but I still enjoy them as a once in a while treat. That chicken rules!

Jollibee has been a step above other fried chicken places. It’s always so juicy and their gravy is amazing. The mango pie is goated.
Peach-mango pies made me tolerate mango for the first time. Excellent.
I didn't know what they were at first until a comparison content creator was trying Jollibee! I'd passed by the one in Daly City a number of times not stopping in. When I did I tried their chicken box and everything was WONDERFUL including the hot gravy that came with it and the warm peach pie! The chicken to me had more of a tempura fry, but not greasy! I'm definitely going back to try more menu items! Also the only one nearest to me is South San Francisco and this town is also a large Filipino community! I just wish the other popular chain Goldilocks Bakeries was closer as well!
There's a Goldilocks in South SF in the Westborough area.
Coming back from vacation to visit family in the Philippines this past week, I love coming back to see a video about this wonderful restaurant
Filipino here who works at a Jollibee in the US. This was a great video! I ended up learning more things about the company and the restaurant chain through this. Additional information that may be of interest: Regarding the goal of the company, it’s told to us employees as the “vision” that we strive towards while following JFC values. I can also very much confirm that Jollibee is aggressively expanding as they are continuously opening new locations. For example, in Texas, they recently opened their 6th location there (Sometime in December 2023 if I recall correctly) and they have already been working on their 7th location in Texas. There was also a promo recently to celebrate the 100th Jollibee store opening in the US (although we have not been told the location yet).
I first had Jollibee in Hawaii and love it. My favorite is the chicken joy. I love that they serve it with gravy. I didn't really like the yum burger that much and the sweet spaghetti was not for me, but you always see long lines at their restaurants so clearly people like it.
I'm not of Filipino descent myself, but I'm excited to see if a Jollibee comes to my area. I've asked a couple friends who are of that descent for character research and I'm enjoying seeing the enthusiasm!
Milksha and Jollibee are coming to Australia.
There's a Jollibee 5 minutes from me that's right next to an In N Out (LA area), and the In N Out still has a 20 car line while the Jollibee is mostly empty. The food was good, but it was cold and the service wasn't very good. I imagine it's much better in the Philippines like my friends tell me.
Yu probably live in Carson, California
I used to live in Anaheim, CA and I loved the Jollibee near us. The one in Anaheim was a multi store, it combined Jollibee, Red Ribbon and Chowking. Amazing food, and yeah the black forest cake is really good, but the Ube extreme cake is honestly better.
I was not expecting a Company man and Jollibee team up! 😅 I'm Filipino in California and grumbling about the fact that my nearest Jollibee is about 10 miles away. 😂
Pro tip: get the spicy chickenjoy.
I am not a fan of their food but they are crazy popular here in Canada. We had a branch open up and the line stretched out the door by dozens of people. This wasn't just opening day. The lines out the door literally lasted for weeks.
Of all the channels, I find your comment here!. Love your content.
I remember when the first location opened in Scarborough, the newspaper reported people driving all the way from Winnipeg to buy their chicken.
As Indonesian, I never had experience jolibee at all, but I have experience one of their brand, which is the coffee bean and tea leaf cafe. When I was young, they even made a sitcome simmiliar to the office vibes ten years ago, and the cafe is still exist in Indonesia, while it not as popular as starbuck and other local brand. definitely gonna try jolibee chicken if I visiting the US or others country they open in.
Jollibee used to operate in Indonesia but they closed in the early 2000s I believe.
I know that Chowking still exists there.
maybe at that time i just don't realise it, since KFC and Mcdonalds has significant influence on fast food fried chicken game back then, alongside with church chicken and popeye, which left the market around 2007's I believes, and they just re-open again in 2023. what's good, I'm part of the 1.5% Filipinos in your channel, what a flex
I work not too far from the only Jollibee here in Arizona, which is in Chandler. I grew up back east, and Filipino restaurants were hard to come by where I lived. So trying Jollibee for the first time was interesting, but overall, I’ve warmed up to it. It doesn’t taste instantly prepared and microwaved like many of our fast food spots in the states, and of course, I love being able to enjoy the food of another country so conveniently in general. I think the US as a whole will feel the same way.
Been to one in Chicago, the only one in Arizona, and one in Tagbilaran City in PH. They're a good magnet for Filipinos so they basically have a solid baseline customer base right away wherever they open as long as there's some sort of nearby Filipino population. Always gotta get a chicken leg+spaghetti combo with a mango pie. Instant classic.
As an American who visited the Philippines a couple of months ago, it is pretty big over there. Where I stayed, they had a shopping mall down the street with a giant Jollibee sign, and I saw lots of locations around Quezon City/Manila.
As for the restaurant itself, I'd say it's an acquired taste. There was a distinct smell when I went in that's hard to describe, but I wasn't that big of a fan of. I got some kind of chicken sandwich, and it tasted a lot different than the standard American-style chicken sandwiches; there was this strange sauce on the sandwich, kind of like mayonnaise I guess, that again tasted kind of strange.
Like I said, I guess you get used to it, but I was okay with only going once. Glad to hear they're doing well, though!
Eating meat in an Asian country sounds awful. I can only imagine smell.
It's roasted garlic mayonnaise. When they first launched the Chicken Sandwich the garlic was overpowering but it was toned down soon after.
The first time I tasted Jollibee was in 1993. Yes, 1993 and I'm not from the Philippines nor live in the Philippines. My hometown was the first Jollibee franchise in my country and it wasn't even the capital city. The food is good and delicious. So, long story short, I still enjoy eating Jollibee till now.
