  • The small island of Lundy, situated in the Bristol Channel, was one of the destinations for BBC West's Day Out series in 1978. Presenter Gwyn Richards sailed across to explore the tiny village and included a stop off at Lundy's post office - the home of the oldest private postal service in the world.
Clip taken from Day Out: Ilfracombe and Lundy, originally broadcast on BBC One (South West), Tuesday 17 October, 1978.

My parents were there in 1960 while on their honeymoon! I've often wondered what it was like to visit - this was a pleasant and well produced piece. Thank you.

It looks almost exactly the same. No new buildings. Better landing point, though! (It’s an SSSI and administered by the Landmark Trust as such - so no development.)
