    Appreciate the review. Zero issues with that vehicle getting up to speed on the interstate or in real world driving. Also seemed nice and quiet. Your advise near the end is what every person considering this vehicle should understand. The 💎 of this vehicle is the value.

    Just purchase my 2024 Trax LS (entry level) February 14, 2024. Sterling Gray. At "21,495.00", i still can't believe that this vehicle is outside my front door everyday! Just the car everyone needs. And for a "base model", so many features come standard. The backseat room will surprise you. The stying is great. And the 3 cylinder engine (that comes on every trim) is fantastic. "Not a race car", but who needs that for everyday driving. "AND ITS NEW".

    On these small turbo charged engines the oil needs to be changed religiously. Also don't shut off the engine when the car has been driven hard and the turbo red hot, give it a minute to cool down before turning off the engine.

    Thank you so very much. A real person using this car for what it is intended. I was getting a little discouraged watching some reviews (IE consumer reports). Your video really shows what driving this car is like. My main concern was the engine and does it have enough horsepower. From my experience, the critics are way too hard on many cars describing them as sluggish. I have a Mitsubishi Outlander Sport 2.0 which has been described as very lackluster, yet in my opinion moves along just fine. But like I'm seeing here, the car scoots along just fine for what most people need. Here is my main concern, I go out to Colorado every August and I'm a bit concerned about how well it will do at elevation. My Mitsubishi definitely looses power due to thin air and of course I'm assuming this car will the same. But will the turbo make the difference. This car has approximately 9 horsepower less than my current car. My Mitsubishi can struggle a bit in the mountain passes, but in general does just fine. You have shown with your video how well car accelerates in every day driving which makes me feel much better. A lot of the things the critics accuse this car of I could care less about. I'm looking for great value, good gas mileage and basic comfort. My current car I even chose not to have a touch screen (2017 was the last year you could opt out of that feature). So even the touch screen I could care less about. I drive non stop Chicago area to the Denver area straight through and my Mitsubishi is more than comfortable. And I'm assuming this car will be the same. Again, thank you so much for your honest opinion and video of actually owning and operating the new Trax. I probably won't get one for another year or so. But thanks again. I'm gonna save this video.

    • @iaintgonnaholdyou
      @iaintgonnaholdyou  Год назад +4

      Thanks for your very well explained comment. I understand all of your concerns because I to had the same concerns before buying the Trax. That is why I specifically wanted to capture most of ppls concerns in my video. Now I must say going up hills I found to be surprisingly well. Ppl are looking at horsepower. But the real MVP of this vehicle's stamina and PUNCH is the Torque. Now I learned that is the bread and butter. Now I want you to look up, how much torque the Outlander has to the 2024 Chevy Trax. No slugging over here.

    • @joshuakincaid6397
      @joshuakincaid6397 Год назад +2

      I actually ran into a couple where I live who like the Trax so much, they bought 2, one for each of them. They had no concerns with the engine power. I also did a little research how a turbo charged engine does at altitude. And from what I read, the turbo forces more air into the engine only causing about a 5% decrease in power above 10,000 feet. I guess a normally aspirated engine looses about 30% above 10,000 feet. So that was very encouraging because that was one of my concerns when I go out into the mountains of Colorado. The Trax may actually perform better than what I'm driving now even with less horsepower. The only thing I hate about it is the timing belt. It will need to be changed out around 100,000 miles. And I'm sure that won't be cheap. My Outlander has a timing chain...no maintenance. Otherwise I'll probably wait till the 2025's are out next year and get one.@@iaintgonnaholdyou

    Chevy has used this same engine in the base model Trailblazer for a few years now and it seems to be doing ok as far as reliability. Frequent oil changes and driving sensibly will go along way. If you drive it like a sports car you will probably have issues early on. The same for any small engine with a turbo.

    Thats the problem with most people now a day, want all these safety features to help you stay in your lane, tell you when someone or something is by your vehicle and some stop for you, all because too many people are bad drivers and not paying attention. You dont need all these cameras when you have mirrors, they want high horsepower vehicles that do 0-60 in 2 seconds with the highest quality material all in a 20 something K vehicle.

    • @TexJTDroning
      @TexJTDroning Месяц назад

      Good points. I'm not sure if the owner of this vehicle has the safety package, which I think is around 800 bucks. I got it on my 2025 Activ last week, and it has blind spot monitoring, lane change warning and steering assist, emergency braking, pedestrian braking, and cross traffic warnings. I got it all for 27k out the door. Dang good vehicle. My Camaro SS that was $40,000 didn't even have these features. Of course with a 6-speed and 455 horsepower it made for some fun driving, but the engine in this is peppy enough for a daily driver. It also stays relatively flat in the corners. They did a good job on the suspension for a car this inexpensive. And it's fun to drive.
      Amazing bang for your buck vehicle, and it looks good compared to other vehicles out there. I would have paid a lot more for it honestly based on looks alone. The extra features are a bonus. But don't tell Chevy I said that. Great vehicle.

      Great question. I live in NC and just got back from NYC. I took a chance and drove up during the snow storm. I was really nervous, but I must say it drove beautifully in the snow. Did have one slip n slide occurrence but it was me overturning out of a gas station. But I had that car all thru NYC streets. I had a car full of stuff, my work computers and it was durable and alot of Fun to drive. So now I've drove up hills, in rain, and in snow. Passed all tests with flying colors so far 🙏🏾💪🏾💯

    damn its enough for 80% of people for sure. but idk how long that engine will hold up. if you didnt buy extended warranty and only using the factory warranty. after that warranty period, ill be worried. this engine uses a wet timing belt. not even a timing chain. yikes! we still need to wait for issues to pop up. still too new of a vehicle. they cut costs where ever they can. and the customer will pay after warranty is up. consumers must realize this is a business.

      Little different color schemes to the interior and exterior. Major reason for picking the 2RS over the activ, was 2rs comes with 19 inch wheels and the Activ wheels are 18 inches

    I hate to burst your bubble but your car has only 10,000 miles on it so you cannot give an accurate assessment on it.
    Wait until you hit the 36,000-mile mark and then that is where you can get a better idea as to how reliable it is.
    I recommend you do some research on the engine history.
    The engine has been by several European cars makers for several years and has a bad reputation for early timing belt failure with belt shavings plugging up the engine oil galleries and oil sump pump because it uses a " wet " timing belt meaning it is emersed in engine oil.
    The timing belts are supposed to last 150,000 miles but often fail at 50,000 miles and less and because it is integrated into the block and head you must remove the block to change it so parts and labor cost easily exceed over a thousand dollars.
    And that does not include cleaning the oil galleries and the oil sump pump of rubber shavings.
    The oil pan must be removed to do this so now you easily looking at over $2000.00 between parts and labor IF the engine has not been damaged from oil starvation.
    Type in the RUclips search 1.2-liter engine wet timing belt issues and they are frightening.

That's why I would never buy a Korean car because Americans are brainwashed into thinking that they're great cars Kia Hyundai and anything built in South Korea are junk and it will always be junk! Yeah there are a few good ones here and there our family acquaintances own Western cab here in Nevada Las Vegas Nevada and the hyundais and the Kias they get from leasing for free for test vehicles are the ones that consistently break down overheating and just terrible cars thank God those leases are free because they're testing mules

    Write a review when it has 65K + miles on it, if it lasts that long. It's a 3 cylinder turbocharged engine, it can't handle the stress.
    Furthermore, Chevrolet does not have a good track record. Good looking car, but I wouldn't sink my money into it.
