The rule of thumb I've been using is that if the knee is blocked while gief is descending, it's plus, and if it's blocked while rising, it's minus. At least the move is safe now, so you can just block if you're not sure.

Don't trust the knee, and it loses to DI too.

If you make it hit during the last frames, you can DI back. That usually happens in oki and with DR.

Knee is cool but it is easy to get excited and misjudge the distance or the current frame dis/advantage. Gotta be careful with it.

I mainly use the knee after checking if my opponent uses down kicks a lot, if they do, I contest with knee.

I use drive rush knee as an oki A LOT, but I don't use it very much beyond that

I only use it like a dash move and light SPD just after (or lvl3) since SFV.
It's not really a move I'll do near my opponent.

Is there a reason capcom doesn’t make frame data more consistent? I find this in my own games where it’s literally 50/50 if I am plus enough to spd light mashing or get blow up.

The frame data is usually consistent, but they created knee like that due to how it was in 6. The spacing doesn't help.
