I have not eaten any food with added sugar for almost 2 years. I was tested and got a huge list of what i cannot eat anymore. I had my microbiome tested and had a yeast/candida overgrowth which sugar contributed to.
I personally take organic psyllium pre & probiotic fiber every morning which supports great digestive health. It's also great to use as a seasonal colon cleanser.
Did it help? And in what way? and for what symptoms? I have chronic gut issues. I was on psyllium for constipation and it wasn’t helping much. I changed my dietitian and she put me on a 100% just fiber supplement and it helped so much with gut movements. She said the psyllium will expand in the stomach and it will cause a sense of fullness and bloating. Also has anyone heard of spore probiotics?
Speaking for myself, the psyllium works great for staying regular and producing healthy bowel movements. Staying fluid is key because dehydration is the cause for constipation. So when using psyllium it's very important not to mix it too thick and to drink at least 8oz of water afterwards because it does expand which acts as a gentle scrubber to help remove any old and decaying fecal matter (mucoid plaque) that gets stuck to the intestinal walls. It's meant to promote a sense of fullness but not bloating. When I use it for an all liquid cleanse I mix the psyllium with OG apple juice made from a juicer. Since apples are high in fiber the mix is very synergistic. Store bought apple juice is usually overloaded with added sugars which is detrimental to great gut health because of the candida it creates. Processed sugars and fructose are to be avoided at all cost (Candy ☠️ Candida). I wish all great wellness and great fortune on the journey to great health!
No, fiber, polyphenols and resistant starches are needed to feed the beneficial bacteria in the gut, for a healthy gut microbiome. And those are found only in plant foods.
Eating Oatmeal with some raisins in it is a great and cheap breakfast. It can also be cooked quickly in the microwave. I prefer the old fashion instead of the instant.
How would it matter if they’re all going to mixed in the stomach? Because they stay there until the duodenum lets the stomach empty into it and it won’t empty all the stomach contents all at once. So how long should I wait before I eat the next food group after taking the fiber and all that?
This isn't anyone to listen to anyway. But it's first of all different types and some can react slightly to some, if you don't then it really doesn't matter. One type (can't remember which) has even shown some signs of possibly improving gut health, but more research is needed.
Make slaw out of your cabbage, or sauerkraut has been an important part of people's diets for thousands of years. Some form of sauerkraut had been a part of most Eurasian diets.
Funny how subjects hardly researched is talked about with this level of confidence, while really well researched subjects where we have good studies is here blatantly disputed or ignored. Yes there's lots of good things with this overall message, like eating loads of fibers and lean protein, but the completely ridiculous claims about sugar creating T2D through change in gut microbiom... Show me citations from human studies, I dare you! Like the claims about fasting creating some kind of magic, and all the claims about insulin. Show me citations from human studies, again, I dare you! It feels like this is turning into the new Joe Rogan. There has to be at least some level of accountability throughout.
Sounds like she doesn’t know what she’s talking about. How do you tell people to drink alcohol but limit red meat? Foolishness. You want us to go plant based? Who’s paying you to say this? Follow the money!
The beneficial bacteria in the gut feed off of fiber, polyphenols and resistant starches. And those are found only in plant foods. The bacteria also feed off of sugar, but you certainly don't want to eat sugar to feed the gut microbiome.
This doctor hits all the boxes on eating healthy.
Good basic info, with no shilling for products, or book sale. Thanks Dr. Malik !

Shaming people that eat meat has been part of the globalist agenda for about 40 years now. They want you to eat cricket instead.

I use a fiber supplement with pre-biotic. Of course it’s for my hemorrhoids. Trust me my gastroenterologist recommended it.
Can you pls share?

She didn't get to artificial sweeteners. I try to avoid those, but would have liked to have heard her take on them.
