    You will see on the first planks, if the position of frames and frames itsef are correct. Even the hull shape design. So put few "longitudal chekcing planks" and check it by eye. The more precise you will be now, the less filler and less work you will spend later. But it is not necessary to spend hours of measuring now. Longitudal planks and your eye is the best tool.

    • @petrpodobsky7005
      @petrpodobsky7005 Год назад

      These "longitudal chekcing planks" are NOT parallel to waterline! They represent equivalent fraciton of circumference length of the frame.

    I briefly watched two men build a 40' steel sailboat, then they abandoned the project after significant work had been done , and said we are going to learn from our mistakes and start over , but they set up in another American state so I never saw the next one , I was gobsmacked by the enormity and complexity and brutality of building a 40' steel sailboat , definitely not a part-time thing ,

    The frames look great m8. I know what you mean about the lazer, I have found they are never as accurate as a dumpy level, The line is too thick. You will be surprised how rigid the structure will become once you start planking . I have been trying to work out just what is wrong and I have finally got it. "We will have to climb a bit higher up ...." Of course. That's one of the perks of building a banana-boat that big. Even the tallest Vikings have to climb a lot to reach the keel during the upside-down phase 😅 She's looking huge in the barn, but once You're on the water resuming family-sailing, she'll be a comfy yacht, still far from those mega-yacht sizes You think of now. You remind me of my Uncle Lorenzo. He was very particular when it came to precision and accuracy. I enjoy your videos, especially with this segment of your building of this boat. I find it interesting that you talk of getting the frames with in a millimeter of each other - of knowing when accuracy maybe to little or too much. When you multiply the possible variances by 10 frames or even twenty, give or take- I can see where that can create problems that you will have trouble hiding. I look forward to the next video. Looks good so far though. Remanicing of when you rebuilt your motor for the old Ran II, if you can do that. I see no problem with you guys building this boat~!

    There is so much content to cover in this project together with your family engagement making every step instructional and enjoyable. I personally like the strategy that comes with planning for today and many months into the future. This is so evident from cutting the frames to placing them on the floor and thinking about moving the upside down boat out of the barn. I wait each week for every episode. Vera has been adding a personal touch now for a couple of years and it's fun to see her growing. Stay well all of you.

    You should remember that when building the boat (applying the boarding), most of the loads are perpendicular to the centerline. You will be pushing the planks and the fiber against the frames. In that direction you have zero bracing. It would be better if you would mount some diagonals right inside the frames.

    There's no need to get frames set to the nearest millimeter, that's what fairing compound is for. 😄😄😄

    Gravity is a constant that won't change, the C/L on the floor is a constant unless you deliberately move it so the C/L of the temporary frames seems to be the most critical variable, your plumbob is the tried and true time tested method. Your instincts are good

    A thought. If you use a stop block and cut a bunch of “sticks” exactly the same size, you could position them between each frame. That way it would stiffen up the whole structure exactly the same distance between each frame hence the whole structure.
