      you can easily google "how much profit does kraft make a year from cheese" and it returns: According to the search results, Kraft Heinz generates a significant portion of its revenue from its cheese and dairy segment. As of Q1 2021, this segment accounted for 19% of the company’s total revenue, amounting to $1.23 billion.
      (well brave search).
      So obviously spending a few million to store cheese or cheese products at refridgerated temps for relatively cheap is something they'd do, yes.

    I've delivered and loaded at the Kraft underground in Springfield many times.
    It was a limestone mine,later a Army weapons depot now it's wherehouses.

    I made deliveries in there.When I drove a truck.there Warehouse caves north of Joplin mo.and there slot of them in Kansas City.mo side and Kansas side.there really cool.i use to drive for frozen food Express.out of Lancaster TX

    I've been to something very similar to this however it was in NM salt minds. The underground city was 1/2 a mile below the eartb.

    The actual Building 10 prefers that you press the black button to page the security guards to open the gate for you. They're busier down there working and checking in/sending out drivers. I'm a security guard there and they prefer you press the black.

    Yeah I drove that same run for Central Refrigerated.
    I picked up there the 1st time at 2 in the morning and was so freaked out. Unbelievable!

      I was Kraft dedicated with Stevens Transport,forget the Love's or T/A I would shut down at the underground..Imos pizza would deliver there.

    Use to go back and forth to Springfield alot from Arkansas. Never heard anybody talk about this place. And oh yeah, I would've fished that quarry dry.

      I found about these caves last night and although the explanation is basic, I'd like to know how they constructed "the working parts" (offices, loading docks, etc.) among the limestone!

    They use to have a golf driving range , tennis courts , restarants , like a little city down there .the entance use to be really wide about 15 trator tailers wide ,as you went in the only places then was a super big grocery warehouse and coors beer distributor, pillsbury, kraft

      I'm retired from Stevens Transport..you do want to visit the underground.
      Cool thing is if it's after 22:00 you can shut down and park up above the caves,never mind the Love's or T/A.

      I'm curious to learn about the behind-the-scenes operation, too; however, I see no reason to disparage "John Goodman" for showing just the basic premise of the warehouse cave (something I've only known about for less than 12 hours).
      Do a search of "Springfield Underground," and you'll probably see some authorized video of what you (and I) are looking for (as a matter of fact, there's a link directly to the right of this comment that says "159 trucks deliver Springfield Underground." I wonder what that's about?

      Look up bicycle commute Springfield Underground. He shows you a bunch of the caves. But they aren't supposed to say who leases the warehouses. It's just everyone knows that Kraft has about 400,000 sq ft.
