Im trying to put a 26mm tillotson from a gokart on my moped 70cc. My question is is the pulse from the crank to be komming from before or after the reeds?
@@ronaldgodden4490 i also saw in a clip that the large pulse inlet on the memprane housing vas blocked of. An the small one thru the reedhouse was used only. Why?
On snowmobile engines of the past. Some tilotson carbs used an external hose and fitting on crankcase. Others used an internal pulse passage that ran through the mounting adaptors an mounting flange on carburetor. I would guess if you have reed valves you may need an external hose and fitting/adaptor.
ok. it is very self-explanatory but what does it mean ? I have a Tillotson that pops-off at 4.5psi which is low. What is wrong with it ? I ordered a rebuild kit and installed new diaphragm and seals, but no hardware change. I have not yet tested the pop-off but it would be nice to know what exactly does it mean if it releases the pressure early. I can only think that the seals or a diaphragm is old which they were. The kart was having issues with coming out of a corner not being able to accelerate fast, good idle but no top end. It all gave me an indication of not enough fuel pressure , but a guy at the kart track said it is not that. He checked the pop-off pressure and then he said it is low and I should replace the spring on the jets and also to replace the jets. I have not replaced anything but the seals and diaphragm so I may or may not fixed it but the test will come soon
good display of the carb properties.. i have several carbs that do not work well ..i may find out what is wrong after all. thanks Rod
Look at the tiny bubbles leaking past his little seat sealing washer. They are visible around the outsides of the brass needle seat
excellent video. big gauge helps. marvel oil to seal is good tip
Question. How to know or measure the right pop off carb need to my engine?
How I know the right pressure My carb/engine needs?
Where I can buy this big ASHCROFT pressure gauge?

Crankcase pulse would come after reeds in crankcase

You only need one or the other not both to run the fuel pump built into most tilotson diaphragm carbs
does this apply to the old tillotson hd as well
Hi,where can I get that preassure tester
WHERE DID YOU FIND THE PUMP......MY OLD ONE LEAKS....CAN'T FIND A REPAIR KIT....MY IS THE SAME AS YOURS......ANY INFO WOULD HELP THANKS, GIL
There's a repair kit listed on Ebay.
Gil Reynolds They come apart and are repairable. Mine leaked when new and I just put thread seal and voila good to go.
These appear to be more problematic than the typical small engine carb@@patrickmorin7693
I was not expecting that juicy old fart when you put the marvel mystery oil in it. NICE!
Nice video,
Where do we get the specs for popoff for our particular machines?
I have a hr40a carb.
See there is NO answer after 3 years SMH, folks make these clips but don't follow up
What is pop off??
Why would you pop-off what are the benefits?
Thanks for share!!
Thank you very much

what carb is it?
If your engine will idle it needs to be retuned. A race tuned carb doesn't idle. E.C Birt
