Is there a guide somewhere online for small engine Tillotson's? I have two vintage Tillotsons on Lauson Tecumseh engines from the early 60's and I cant find a thing about them so I can rebuild or at least clean them up properly . They are stamped E7A and E8A.
AllDown TheLine Sorry for the late post, but in case you haven't figured it out yet, I will post on the Tillotson.ie webstie (tillotson.ie/techinfo-service.php) the the Illustrated Parts List for the E series carbs that has all the parts and some tuning instructions. The parts are going to be hard to find, but there are some good resources in the US (try vepetersen.com for vintage original party or thecarburetorshop.com for aftermarket) and if you stil have trouble, you can try sending it into the factory in Ireland. We can usually repair most older carbs if the body is still in good shape. Contact sales@tillotson.ie for more info.
I lost the diaphragm return spring on a carb, is there any way I can get a spring included with a tillotson gasket and hardwear kit? Any advise is appreciated. Thanks Sean.
dear sir,I have problem with adjusting hl series carb, when I completely close the choke shutter engine start and work idle with no problem, but when I open it the engine working high speed and I had to close it again, can you tell me about this problem please?
Not sure what you mean by diaphragm return spring, but inlet lever springs are available from dealers or through tillotson.ie in RK kits or separately. If that's not what you are looking for, check the exploded diagram in the Parts List for your carb model (available in the Service section of the tillotson,ie website) and contact a dealer or sales@tillitson.ie to order.
Hello Tillotson! This video was very interesting, but can you please make a new one? Filmed in 1080p so we can better see what's going on? This is 7 years old now lol
I have an HR. But this video was immensely helpful. I had it all apart outside and wondered what I might lose or put in upside down. So I brought it in and watched this and put it together and by golly she ran. Thanks. One thing I found a bit confusing is that you have to work on it upside down. I had to keep reminding myself top diaphragm on the table was the bottom one on the engine.
For the most comprehensive tilly carb rebuild for your old snowmobile HR/HD types, go to my video and watch, I do a complete tear down and rebuild - everything is done. Thanks Tilly!
your ring pressures are too low, so the needle valve can't close correctly, that's why the fuel comes out of your barb ! Sorry for my bad english i'm french ! frenchs make best carburators =)
Great video! I would love to see a video on tuning the carb
Very nice, good explained and very useful video!
Thank you very much!

When you say adjust the lever to be flush, how to adjust it? By loosening the screw holding the fulcrum arm? Or by adjusting the spring?
No, keep the screw tight but gently bend the lever up or down so the end is flush.
Bend the arm. do not adjust the spring

Do these instructions generally apply to 45 year old carb models as well?
Generally yes if it's a diaphragm model (HL, HK, HT, HS or HU). You can also search RUclips for other videos on your specific model.
