It's so refreshing to see realistic vlogs these days, your content is very enjoyable to watch! If you ever get the chance to visit other metro stations, definitely do, they are amazing! Especially Victoria Cross and Martin Place.
Good video again. Found you a while back as I knew I was moving up to Sydney and was doing some research on the daily 9-5 travel etc. Now I'm here and i'll also be taking that same metro into the city! Congrats on the baby news and the work success.
17:53 been in Sydney for over 22 years but never been to nor heard of Emperors Puffs.. but have walked past it when i did a course in the city I think. Get off at Central Metro and walk about 10 minutes to ‘75 Dixon Street, Haymarket NSW 2000’ yeah? ..have not even caught the metro yet. 9:13 That endless rail tracks footage was nostalgic as I used to catch the train over 15 years ago when had work or studied in the city and back then didn’t drive as much to travel around Sydney
Yeah the Emperors Creams Puffs been in Sydney at that exact location for as long as I can remember ha ha. Correct it is on Dixon street, just opposite Market City. Compared to Sydney Trains, the Metro is much faster but I prefer the Sydney Trains seating arrangement better actually. Glad you found the video nostalgic.

Love these types of videos! You and Camille are my all-time favourite youtubers! For the next day in my life video you make, could you please put timestamps somewhere on the screen of what time you are doing each thing? If not, that's fine as well, these videos are still nice to watch! And some more work from home videos would be great too!
Thanks for watching! Glad to hear you enjoyed the video. I will try and keep the time stamp in mind. But do you mean like what actual time I do stuff in the video? E.g Lunch timr at 12.30pm Or like chapters like e.g 10min mark arrive at work?
@BrandonSayasane the actual time you do stuff in the video! For example, when you are having lunch, there is a bit of text at the top of the screen saying '12:30pm' or like when you are walking to the train station there is a bit of text at the top of the screen saying '6:45am', and the text changes everytime you do something (e.g, when you wake up, when you feed the cats, when you make your morning coffee, when you get on the train, etc). But I understand if it becomes hard to keep track of the time throughout the day, so don't stress if you can't do it :) Looking forward to the next video!
thanks for the video. its interesting to see your day. i should do one as a day in the life of a mature age electrical apprentice. just curious as to why the commute to the train station has recently become more busy? is it just with the number of people deciding to use public transport or something else?
Yeah you should definately try vlogging. I has forced me to learn skills and its a good way to look back on memories. In regards to the commute getting busier I thi k it has to do with people being forced back into the office more, and people tend to go Monday to Thursday the most.
Yeah I recommend looking for an apprenticrship or cadet role if you can (if your in Australia). For me personally I didnt have a degree, I got my Diploma on the job. No Bachelors Degree required. Yeah I plan to do a showcase on my work from home setup and personal computer. Just waiting for some things to be finished beforehand. But for my PC, I made it myself.
hey mate, I am a civil drafter in Brisbane. I am just curious that you are designing as well like using 12D or Civil 3D. it seems like you are just using AutoCAD and designing too as a senior drafter not a designer. is it like just different depends on companies? like some companies has designers but some of them don't. Also, I thought designers are making more money than drafters, but if you are doing design stuff as a drafter, is it same as a designer?
Hi There, At my current company I no longer do any design. So I currently am in the major projects team which is mostly highways and super large projects. Under this team, there is a clear distinction of roles. So here I purely just do drafting. At my old company which is also quite large, I worked in the Urban development space where projects were a lot smaller. (Total drawings could be 150 vs 5000 now). At that role I was learning design and drafting. So I was all in one. Mostly used 12d to design and just AutoCAD to draft. To answer simply, all companies have designers but not all have a dedicated drafter. In smaller teams or companies the designer may also do the drafting. In regards, to salary. I believe designers generally do make more than drafters. But it is extra work in design compared to drafting, but more future proofed against redundancies. If your looking to increase your salary, sometimes moving companies is the best option.
I actually enjoyed doing design stuff using 12d (It is hard, but you'll eventually get it). - I disliked designing in Civil 3d though. But for perspective, I am currently making more doing just drafting than before when I was design/drafter. Reason is the major projects have larger budgets compared to smaller projects.
Hi Brandon i am a recent subscriber of your vlogs and enjoying it.this is Binoy from India.I am also a draft person but in to buildings and bridges i do Architectural and structural drafting in Autocad and Revit.I am also planning to migrate Australia so can you please make contents like how is the job opportunities, which state has more opportunity being a draft person, which sector has more opportunity like infra drafting, buildings or bridges and iam curious about to know about real work load how you co-ordinate with design engineers and seniors.
Hi Binoy, I will eventually do a video that covers some of those topics. But a general gist. Revit is a highly sought after skill in the Structural Ingrastructure space and potentially buildings. At least in NSW job market is tough for people in the infrastructure space (myself) as the government has put on hold many potential projects which has led to a lot of redundancies across multiple companies. In saying that I am unsure about other divisons or dicisplines as I am mainly working on highways infrastructure projects. Work life balance can be very mixed, if there are deadlines due that can mean working back long hours which are potentially unpaid. But if not deadline it is quite relaxed. Also dependent on your position and skill set. A lower level wouldnt ahev the same expectation as a higher skilled drafter.
Hi Mate, nice video. By the way, can I ask your opinion about which assessing authority is better in getting a skills assessment as a Civil Drafter? VETASSESS or Engineers Australia? Tia 😃
@BrandonSayasane I see. I am currently based overseas and exploring the idea of working there (so it's part of the possible process). I visited AU (Melb) just this year and had a great time. 😃
Dont you get bored of the monotony? If I told you this was your life until you die, would you be happy? Love the vlogs. But also makes me anxious about my life. The long trek into work, day after day, week after week, year after year Wake up. Feed cats. Arrived late so had to walk a little further to train station. Change trains to the metro. Arrive Town Hall. Go to work. Get free coffee from machine. Work. Maybe get lunch outside. Work. Go home but not via Metro. Get to station. Long-ish walk to car. Back home. Repeat
To be fair, I do get bored of it sometimes. But I generally do love my life. I find you have to find enjoying the simple things in life. Like what Sensei said, enjoying spending time with family and friends. I love feeding my cats and playing with them. The commute can be tiring, but is also very fun to banter with colleagues and socialise in general at the office. Sometimes we barely do any work and just chat all day. With the commute as well specifically, I also think my commute is not as bad as some of my colleagues in Philippines. One of them has to leave home at 4am and has a 3 hr commute to the office. (They leave earlier otherwise its super traffic. I think they also have to take 3 different buses) Also I love eating out lol. I enjoy food, trying new places etc is always nice. I guess its a bit privilage though cause I can still even though times are tougher.
