What I hate the most is the actresses are going around complaining about being criticized in real life for aging and then they do this series that is so disrespectful about aging. What the hell?
When they were having lunch, I took that whole convo as them ribbing and joking on each other. My friends and I do that all the time anytime we get a cramp or pull a muscle just for breathing. It's a self depreciating thing. I was actually laughing at that scene because it was very relatable.
@@Outdafakeonz My hubby and I do the same thing although we are ten years younger than the characters. Every time we get an ache or pain we complain about how old we are. That doesn't mean it needs to be beat to death in this series. They are portraying the ladies as if they escaped from the nursing home for a cocktail.
@@squisitissima2810 It's like the difference between Golden Girls and this schlock. They had jokes about being old, but they were actually funny and just way less morose and depressing.
Carrie can afford homecare (which you probably don't need for a hip surgery, but I digress). Carrie has a fancy apartment with a doorman, elevator, and walk in shower. Instead Carrie chooses to live in her old apartment and make her friends into her pee schedule slaves? Somewhere in London, Samantha is drinking a martini and congratulating herself on her decision to leave New York.
@@jjkatz IKR? In 2015, I returned to school to get my BA after my husband passed away; I entered a very changed universe, interacting with a very diverse arena, and never had the kinds of awkward conversations that this gang indulges in. WTF?
This show should NEVER have been green lit. It’s absolutely awful! They have made every character so unlikable in such a short time. Carrie seemed more upset about Big jilting her at their wedding than when he died. She’s gotten over it very quickly compared to how damaged she was in the first movie. Miranda is awful. All the work they did between her and Steve was for nothing. The women act like their in their 70’s not their 50’s. It’s not a fun show anymore and shoving all these woke agendas down our throat in every episode is exhausting.
Oh you should listen to that podcast, Juicy Scoop (it's on youtube). The host also reviews this crap of a show and as a bonus, she does her interpretation of Samantha in London being interviewed about her former friends, it's hilarious!!
@@travytypo and she let them do such a bad job by her own standards, so she could criticize them as friends, and make them seek for her approval over and over again - manipulation all over....
Carrie’s seemed taken aback by Miranda having sex in the kitchen. she also spoke up for Steve in the first Sex in the city film -- and Samantha also mentioned to Miranda - “it was just a slip”-- a mistake--- Miranda affair doesn’t seem to be a “slip” it is a full on game change- or lifestyle change. I would be okay with it, except the writing is completely AWFUL ---
I am 65 and this is an insult to “mature” women. I’m 10 yrs “older “ than these characters and they’re 10 times more pathetic. Give me a break. This would never happen with the original characters.
My mum is 65. She looks amazing, never had any work done. Her mum, my gran looked really young for her age too! My mum looks a lot younger than SJP. What we are seeing is the price for excessive exercise and extreme dieting. It ages the body faster!
As a 53 year old who needed a Total Hip Replacement after an accident I am extremely insulted. Also as an RN it’s completely unrealistic. Do they not consult with any healthcare providers? I am Boycotting the show and the horrible greed that is it’s true essence. All about making money and no creativity. So disappointing. Thanks for the place to vent.
I used to work in the billing department of a physical therapy office, and there's no way we would see a patient until we had reviewed their insurance coverage and had the patient sign off on it.
Totally agree. I'm a PICU RN and this is ridiculous. My dad had a hip replacement before he was 40 due to a bad car accident. I hope you are doing well.
Suspension of disbelief is what allows us to enjoy fiction. If a writer does not do the research a contradictory moment can take a viewer out of the story. That is a sign of bad writing.
I feel like they missed a real opportunity here with the whole “hip replacement” storyline. Who else thought the doctor was going to come back to tell Carrie it was her years of wearing high heels that caused the damage to her hip?
Totally agree. I thought that's where they were headed with this story. I didn't take it as another "ageist" knock on the girls, but more as a life lesson to someone who's worn high heels for everything from parties, to shopping, to even walking Aidan's dog (eyeroll). But instead, they glossed over that obvious take in favor of more woke bullshit about Charlotte's daughter. WTF?!!
Dolly Parton always wears high heels, and has never had hip surgery and she's 75. The opportunity they missed was educating people that the reason Carrie's hip went out was years and years of smoking, depleting her body of Vitamin C, thus ruining her cartilage. A deficiency of vitamin C causes scurvy which is malformation of collagen. Therefore, this deficiency can cause pigmentation of the skin, open and bleeding wounds on the skin and mucosal membranes and reduced mobility caused by degeneration of the cartilage since collagen makes up the connective tissues at the joints.
This show just reeks of personal agendas being performed on camera. Carrie's snide ATM comment was directed at Kim. Cynthia's personal journey as a gay woman. However, in the show Miranda was very aware that she was so straight, when she tried to fake gay her way into a partner's party, it was an epic fail. Miranda was judgmental of Samantha's sexual fluidity when she dated María. Miranda cheated on Steve and was almost unforgiving. This show should be called Double-Standards and the City.
Che seems like an even bigger addict than Miranda. She acts like a bad teenager, always doing shots and smoking weed. Why would the responsible Miranda be attracted to that? Crazy.
Imo, Miranda is filled with a lot of self-loathing and resentment. She's miserable in her marriage; her repressed sexuality, and has a massive chip on her shoulder, and that's why she resorts to drinking. None of her friends are on board with her newly acquired drinking schedule, but Che facilitates and enables her vice. That and the fact that she's obviously sexually attracted to her and is able to explore that with her, it's like a horny teenager excited to have sex for the first time because being with another woman is a first for her.
From the original they made sure Miranda’s character had good sex. The entire series she had sex she enjoyed. Why are they pretending like none of that happened? It’a a totally different character.
I think if they are going to put Mirada with another woman that they should put her with someone different. Maybe that's why they got rid of Big, because she is going to end up with Carrie!
I cannot with the way they rewritten whole relationship between Steve and Miranda. Are we supposed to forget how much she loved him and how she blurted it out over birthday cake? How she took care of his mother? How they've met in the middle of the bridge and cried and hugged? How happy they were on wedding of Anthony and Stan? All their sex scenes when she enjoyed herself? And now, she is supposed to never have been happy? Cmon
The way the writers have completely trashed over Steve's character is the most awful thing for me. They turned him into a cheater for no reason in the first movie and now we're supposed to believe Steve is suddenly a deaf, old man that Miranda can't stand? Oh please.
Why did they have to make it about being old? Just why? The Golden Girls wasn’t about being old. It was about the friendships. Just like SATC. Also, they are not in their 70s. Why are they acting like it.
@@mademsoisellerhapsody my daughters are both GenX and they do not think that even I'm old and I'm 76! I think it really depends on what you were taught and experienced growing up. In the sixties we all thought thought anyone over 30 was old 😅 Of course it helped that I never acted, dressed, or had the attitude of someone older.
Yes,,and at least when The Golden Girls made jokes about age they were actually funny! Like Blanche's heart surgery, when Sophia said,"She's be back and back on her back in no time." or when Dorothy had foot surgery and Rose claimed she saw,"An old, ugly man with a limp wearing Dorothy's coat." The only one out of the SATC cast who had any good age jokes and had fun getting older was Samantha and I'm so glad Kim opted not to come back. Watching these idiot writers ruin Carrie,Charlotte and Miranda is enough!
Used to adore Miranda. I identified with her romantic struggles the most because before a man found me sexy I had to convince him I was adorable. Now I don't want to be Miranda and does anyone else wonder if she kept the card the cop gave her after he ONS'ed her and left her the number for AA meeting?
The real Miranda wouldn’t have done that to Carrie. And New York apts are small there’s no way Miranda wouldn’t have heard Carrie needing to go to the bathroom. The neighbors would have been WTF keep it down. Miranda was barking like a dog like what was that?!!
They’re all awful. I think it was said here, but I agree that Miranda the character and Cynthia the actress remind me of Miranda in the Real Me, when she gets full of herself towards the end. It’s like Cynthia is frozen in time of that character in that particular moment.
Does anyone else think that for all the progressivism Che espouses; that getting their employee’s best friend drunk and high in their EMPLOYEE’S apartment, having sex with her, and then just leaving for a gig…kind of creepy? I thought Che was more evolved then that? That’s what pisses me off about this character. They are all ‘progress progress progress’ but then acts EXACTLY how a creepy man would act. Also I hate how helpless Carrie is. I think this is why Samantha left, she can’t handle Carrie’s neediness.
Great point. And the sad thing, it would great for the character if Carrie went to work and filed a complaint or read the shit out of her for her hypocrisy, but the writers aren't smart enough. Now THAT would make a great scene.
Because they’re a non binary person of color …. The show will let the character do and say whatever they want. It’s a built in pass, and if anyone dare to say that, then that person is automatically a racist, sexist, bigoted homopho. Welcome to wokeneas.
@@lia.soprano thats a shame because its not Sara Ramirez’s fault- because as far as I know they are not a writer or a producer on the show. The writers should be taking way more care with this character. Look, I don’t mind if Che is problematic, we all are to a certain degree. In fact I think having a problematic non-binary character would be a good thing- because that makes them more balanced as characters. But because all Che can talk about is how progressive and woke she is, it does feel like the writers are giving them a pass and THAT IS NOT OKAY. They deserve to get called out for this behavior.
You beat me to this. I just commented about Che's character. That kitchen scene was disturbing on so many levels, none of which has to do with their sexuality. It has everything to do with cringey, aggressive, manipulative behavior. Che planned on plying liquor to pain med Carrie. But then Che decided to smoke weed, blow it in Miranda's mouth, do shots with her, and have a quickie before needing to bounce to NJ? It's certainly no secret to Che that Miranda is both married and a mess. It seems like she took total advantage of the situation. This is supposed to be woke?
What exactly is the point of this show? What are they trying to tell us? "Women! You're leaky and old and depressed and drunk and ignorant! Your lives are hideous! How dare you age and expect to be happy?" I'm done. I'm not even going to watch this episode. I'd have more fun cleaning my bathroom 🤦🏻♀
Carrie ALWAYS made everything about herself regardless. I always cringe in the episode where Charlotte announces that she and Harry are getting married. Carrie gets dumped via post it by a guy she dated super short term. “Paper covers rock” just wow.
It would be more realistic if Carrie had to have a bunion surgery due to her love of walking everywhere in heels for 30-35 years. That would be more of a cutesy Golden Girls type way of handling age as it actually occurs rather acting like these women are frail and near death. And Che/Miranda...I guess they are showing they really can't act unless they basically play themselves in real life now. Great way to trailblaze ugh.
@@untameyourflame Yeah they could have even made it stylish for Carrie and be back in creating trends with more flats, kitten heels or trendy sneakers. Also more on brand for Covid since wtf of any age is walking in 5 inch heels and a mask? And if we need to talk about health, I would think menopause would be fitting as well.
@@jfknightom totally agree!! It's like the writers have lost touch with age and what is relevant at that age along with how to creatively discuss it and include it in a show
My mom is 63 years old. She looks like she could be my sister. And she’s super active and works 12 hours in a plant making F150s. She’s fun and full of life. The way these people act on this show reminds me of my grandparents. I’m truly confused. But I also watched Mrs. Doubtfire yesterday and she was supposed to be 60 years old!!!!! Like wtf is Hollywood thinking. Mrs. Doubtfire was all of 75 maybe 80! Don’t let these shows destroy your vision of what aging truly is.
I think it's OK to be honest about the ways in which aging sucks (let's be honest -- it's not all roses, and in the end, it leads to death), but this show is not hitting the mark at all.
I’m 57 and it makes my heart sick that this pathetic series is making me feel that I am old. I run around a restaurant slinging hash 6 days a week. My stats in my Apple Watch at work is on average 7 miles. I’m shocked that they are so disconnected and quite frankly saddened.
A better storyline would be that Carrie is a jogger (or Charlotte could have this plot) and needs surgery because jogging for years has been hard on her body. I know people who needed surgery on their hips and knees but it’s because they exercise. My mom is getting surgery hopefully next year but she is 70 and it’s because she put on unhealthy weight. To make Carrie needing a hi replacement is really sick.
The Miranda sex and Carrie peeing scene was maybe the most uncomfortable thing I have ever seen. This show is complete garbage. Its depressing. Its uninspired. I don't think they can make the characters look older or worse. I have no words.
Have to ask one more question: Why the hell didn’t Carrie just use the *handrail* to go up the stairs of her apartment building, instead of the umbrella??? Nobody uses a cane to go up the staircase! They use the handrail (that’s what it’s effing for), and they carry the cane. That was so painful to watch.
ok the thing with miranda wasn't even sexy it was so cringe, plus she is married (yeah i know steve cheated on her first but that was years ago and they worked it out) but wth was that!!!
@@emma2370 Her sex scenes were always cringe. Never sexy at any age. This was just unfortunate and gross. God, it was as awful as when Samantha had sex with her 60 something creepy neighbor.
And something that it’s bugging me is that Miranda is acting as if she is a single woman rather than a married one. Where is Steve in this picture? And why destroy the previous narrative in the first movie when he cheated on her only for her character to grow in their relationship? And who says that you have to have a boring relationship just because you’re 55? This show sucks big time.
That’s what’s really annoying! They’re portraying middle aged relationships as dead end where there’s no other option than to cheat and act ridiculously out of character..,
And also the way she talked about steve, that they didn't have sex. I'm sure she was the one holding the sex, she did it in the first movie. Poor steve.
Yeah. It seems odd that they removed most of the sex from the show. It’s like they think 55 year olds can’t sustain great relationships with their long term partners. It’s really just terrible.
Awful awful awful. And the worst offence they have made so far. That because Steve and Miranda’s lives aren’t super exciting anymore she now doesn’t love him and isn’t content. Just awful. We’ve seen these women have affairs before and how much it devastated their partner. Don’t want to see it anymore. Steve and Miranda had such a journey so horrible to see this.
They could’ve showed the two of them experimenting with kinky stuff to spice things up, which would’ve been more believable AND injected some humour into this DepressFest.
I am not a writer but I think it would have been better for Samantha’s character to have passed away from breast cancer. And memorialize Samantha by creating a charity /organization for women/families who are going through the challenges of breast cancer. This scenario would have set the stage for introducing new characters to the show . Also, Stanford would never just leave without saying his good bye in-person. I felt it would be better to have Stanford die from Covid related issues - much more believable . Women in the city are also generally active, I don’t see any of the characters exercising like the did in the series. I think that would minimize the whining about how old they are and be more proactive in improving strength/diet/ mental health/ health bc they are at the age when women are going thru menopause (which has not been addressed either ??) And lastly, no one wears masks on the subway ?!? This show is AWEFUL !
Yes, exactly! I thought it would be more empowering for aging women. I'm 58 and all about mental health, diet, and working out. And, yes agree about having Samantha and Stanford pass for those reasons. This is the age group we lose friends to death - that is real. But how we navigate it and realize how sacred life is, could be empowering to showcase in this series.
I made the same comment about Stanford. He would never just leave like that. Someone pointed out that they would have had to re-write other episodes to give it justice. But given how bad this is, that wouldn’t be a bad thing
I was thinking the same thing too but I think they don’t want to kill samantha off because they secretly want her to change her mind and come back. Lol
@@_steeni they want Samantha to want to come back but they want the opportunity to turn her down. In their dreams thought...hahaha! They shows writers are behaving like mean college girls making characters run off like fickle little girls instead of respectfully laying them to rest for good.
Oh no! This is the worst so far. Where do I start: 1. Che is a problem. If she was a male boss of Carries doing that to Miranda in her apt that would be an HR visit. 2. When Carrie says that light comment about opioids. And that there’s something to it wink wink… the Gall!there’s an opioid epidemic 3.the Rose thing: it’s so awful that the her school principal and teacher tells them that they take their lead from a 12 year old instead of their parents. Guys this is happening in real life and this is their attitude. Poor Harry when he says that this is the most humbling experience to be told by other adults about his own child. I say no! This is the most humiliating experience and a slap in the face to all parents. 4. I feel so bad for Steve right now that Miranda just hates them and what they are about.
On number 3-- You're 100% right. Children are encouraged to keep secrets from their parents now which is a clear safeguarding risk. In Scotland schools have been told to encourage children as young as 4 to change their 'gender.' Four years old. How this is happening at the same time around the world is pretty mind blowing to me and I don't understand how something so potentially harmful is being pushed.
I agree. I also think it’s unfair to justify Miranda’s affair and alcoholism by saying she hates her life. Guess what? It’s no one else’s responsibility to make your life something you love. If she doesn’t communicate with Steve she is unhappy how is it going to get fixed? Also there are people for which alcoholism is a disease. It doesn’t magically get better because they are happy. People ruin happy lives because they can’t stop. And having sex at your friends house who you are there to help is really selfish. She is a terrible character.
And I recently watched a documentary about the opioid crisis and was baffled when they where bringing up the painkillers as something good when people get addicted to them. It’s like this shit show gets worse by the minutes passing
YES!! And sadly, we may never hear anyone else say, "I'm fifty-fucking-two and I'm gonna rock this dress." No, Carrie is off her rocker in Birkenstocks. WTF?!
the writers and the acting should get the worst possible actors and writing award. HBO you put out such excellent work how could you possibly allow this to go out into the world on the HBO platform?????
I am 57-years-old and watched SATC from the beginning and I cannot BELIEVE how bad this show is and how HORRIBLE they have made these characters 😢😫😭 I have since cancelled my HBO subscription since this is the only reason I joined and I am so disgusted by this series...and, no, I am 57 and I have not had a hip replacement, I don't have a drinking problem, and I have 4 kids and not one of them are a Ze, Zim whatever
@@Angela-ze1wx See if you can find the free version. It is worth it for some other shows. I think Gentleman Jack is on it. And Curb your Enthusiasm is hilarious. Despite the bad opinions etc, I still enjoy And Just Like That. I will watch it to the end. I am already invested! I cringe a lot, but I am glued to it.
It saddens me to for the outcome of Miranda because we knew and loved/hated her and Steve's relationship and to hear her say she hates it I feel like the writers are saying forget the original show and movie here is we are now
To be fair though, I always thought that Miranda and Steve weren't meant for each other I think they paired them just so they can have Brady in a "family" not because of love, so I'm not surprised they're taking this route
@Becky Ellis I don't see anymore who is Carry as a person? Much less I see her as a friend... Judgemental and dismissive - yes, but nothing more left of Carry...
As a 58 year old women who inherited knee issues (I think we all get knee issues at this age), I would not live in a walk-up brownstone with a very tall staircase to enter the building. Why would she leave her elevator building.
I don’t get why she wouldn’t want to show lesbian sex that was sexy. It looked like a porn. Maybe she thought that was sexy but I promise it can be much more sensual then that 🤷🏼♀️
So, in this one episode, the writers literally destroy the whole love story of Miranda and Steve 🙄 We all saw that Miranda was going to have some affair with Che, but for Miranda to then say to Carrie - she has been miserable forever! LIKE HELLO????? We watched six seasons of SATC of Miranda and Steve's love story. Then that stupid ass first movie, where they had Steve cheat on her, and they got back together!! Even in the second movie, they seemed very good!!! Do they think we, as viewers, have fucking amnesia????? And after Miranda almost cut Steve out of her life for cheating, she goes and does this????? Someone explain this bullshit! Oh, that's right, there is none!!! This is absolute garbage!
I couldn't agree more. Out of all the SATC boyfriends/husbands, Steve seem to be the one with the most character growth. We saw Steve go from a bit of a man child to owning his own bar and being being good dad to Brady and Miranda realized that he was so the guy for her. (Her words in season 6.) And all of that just seems like it was for nothing now.
I admit that there have been points in various relationships where I was miserable with the person I was with but you don't run around, smoke weed, get drunk and screw around on your partner. You go home, you sit down and you talk to them. Past Miranda would've done that. She didn't seem unhappy was when she told Steve she loved him or whe Steve said,"Miranda you're the one." Yes,he cheated and that sucks but she dragged him through Hell for it She and Steve rebuilt the trust and a lot of good all that work did Steve. Miranda makes him sound like an f'n loser. Has she really looked at Che? Has she paid attention to some of the horrible crap that comes out of Che's mouth on that sh*t show podcast? Che is not a good person and just Miranda can ignore all of Che's less then stellar qualities is just showing how warped the writers have made her. Miranda talked in therapy about how much Steve's infedelity hurt her and yet she had no trouble inflicting that same pain on him. Wonder how she'll feel when Che brings it up o the podcast and someone who knows them,or Brady,or Brady's gf or Steve hear it.
Exactly!! They think that fans are stupid and will eat all the bullshit! Miranda was unhappy forever!! Come on! It’s not a story of Miranda, it’s story of Cynthia! And if she wants to tell he story she should make another movie about her life, not ruining SATC
I will never forget the episode where Samantha told the girls she had cancer. Miranda takes time from her wedding to say, no you are my people and we discuss it now. Now....we have trash. My mum is 61 and runs about like she is 21!!!! The diaphragm thing was funny. They way Samantha goes....and I just got my nails done
Good for her, I'm in my 50s and watching the writers treat these women as if they're in their 80s makes me cringe. Carrie's surgery, Steve's hearing aids... come on. And all of a sudden Miranda turning bi....I just can't with these people.
@@Nautinthislifetime That’s great! Similar to your mom, but I'm 76 years young, and I don't want to let my hair go gray because I know it would look awful and my stylist agrees with me! Even my grandmother (who left this world last yr) at 90yrs old didnt act like them. She was still so active, funny, still dyed her hair & did her nails and overall was better than these women. WTH happened to these characters????
I could have lived my whole life without witnessing Miranda moaning like that...omg!!!!!!!!!! lool That whole interaction with Che lol dude..wtaf lol. WHERE ARE BRADY'S GIRLFRIEND'S PARENTS?! They are equally terrible as Miranda and Steve!! Who lets their 17-year-old daughter go and ostensibly live with her boyfriend?!
In my script, her parents thought she was at a girlfriends and find her out. They come over and beat the shit out of the “progressive “ Steve and Miranda and also that little puke Brady too.
Honestly Im stunned they would promote having an affair. Regardless of the gender. I can understand Carrie having hip issues at a mid age. My friend was in her 40’s and got a hip replacement. Its the sex scene in the kitchen that really disgusted me. I don’t even want to get started on Charlotte and Rose. Thats a joke!
Original Carrie would have screamed, “stop!!!” And she wouldn’t have judged Miranda at all, not after the episode about judging Samantha. The fans should write the show by committee now.
@@MicheleNichols2,she also stalked Natasha for a decent stretch before she got to give that apology. I remember Carrie saying she thought Sam would judge her and being the true and amazing friend she was Samantha just said,"That's ot my style." I mean I get Carrie being angry about the pot and Miranda and Che getting it on her kitchen but when did Carrie become such a prude?
@@giventoflyx,in fairness Miranda kissed Steve in the laundryroom,on Brady's first birthday, and dumped Robert not to long after that but yes,Steve did cheat and Miranda moved out taking Magda and Brady with her! She wound up in marriage counciling with Steve and discussed how much the cheating hurt her but clearly the alcohol made her forget how much it hurt because she didnt hesistate to screw around with Che and cheat on Steve!
This new SATC makes me want to stab my eyeballs out, but I can’t stop watching it cause I love the way it’s bringing people together hating it from all beliefs, walks of life, and political parties 🤣🤣🤷🏻♀️😬🥰💕
I must say that I don't laugh at all while watching the show. I feel constant cringe and of course cannot look away from this disaster trainwreck. But I was more excited for this review than the episode itself. And I am not disappointed ;) I agree with you 💯%.
I was glad that Carrie told Miranda off about the business in her kitchen -- and I'd argue that wasn't "fair payback" for Carrie sending Aidan to help Miranda on the original series, instead of going herself. Carrie didn't go because she had a meeting with her editor, and she did send Aidan to help. Miranda was drinking and getting off in the kitchen, and didn't provide Carrie any help at all. She even kept yanking at the sheet when Carrie yelled "stop, you're hurting me." I just hope there's also a scene were Steve gets to tell Miranda off. Though given the lousy way this show is treating Steve -- turning him into a deaf, boring old coot -- I'm not hopeful. But seriously, there should be a moment where Steve confronts Miranda about her hypocrisy, and basically serves as the voice of so many fans ticked off about this crazy amnesia the series has developed. "What," he should say on his and our behalf, "so all these years together were a lie? You didn't marry me just because we had Brady; you refused my first proposal, fell back in love with me over the first year of Brady's life, and then you, YOU proposed to me! "When I had that one night stand, you screamed at me that I "broke us," moved out and put me through hell for a year. Then we went to therapy, reconfirmed our love and got back together. And now, now out of the blue, you decide you have to betray us and negate all our years together because you 'hate our marriage and you're trapped'?!? "Have you lost your mind? Has the booze turned you into a completely different person? Because you're not acting like the Miranda I've known for 20 damn years."
Aiden VOLUNTEERED to help Miranda, because he was a Prince. Steve was positive and also very kind. These women finally found good men and then didn't appreciate them!
Yes, remember how pissed Miranda was when she needed Carrie (she threw her back out), and Carrie sent Aidan. Miranda schooled Carrie hard on that one about being selfish LMAO - I know this series too well for my own sanity 🤣
Well,it's not like Miranda could bring Che back to her house. It would be like,"Steve,Brady, this is Carrie non-binary boss Che. We're going to be in the bedroom doing shots, smoking weed and having sex so I can prove how woke I am now." It really makes me wonder about Che as well. I get it. Do what you want. Be who you are but who Che is,is someone who will screw an alcoholic married mom who's in absolute emotional limbo and who's actions, with Che,just made her life about 500 times worse.
I don’t think they should have joked around about opioids as much as they did in this - it was odd how they are going after Miranda’s drinking problem, but glamorizing opiate highs/stating that Carrie is a better version of herself on them/wishing they had access to them. Very odd. Of all things to joke about.
This comment is spot on. I didn’t find this at all tasteful. Making an entire storyline about alcohol addiction, which was a problem, until Che fingered her, now she can just pour them all away! Che and her magic fingers to the rescue! Clearly her issue was bad enough that she was ordering stuff and not remembering, then blaming her friend. Yet Opiate addiction is fine to make a mockery of. Poor Steve has no idea how she feels because she’s made no attempt to tell him, I feel like she hates Brady as well. To say she hates her life, when she has so much going for her, a son, a beautiful house, a great career, a loving husband, all of that is her life, so the only thing she is doing is changing her partner, so what she’s really saying is she hates Steve. Miranda who was the most scathing about Samantha and Maria, who accused Samantha of doing it to bug them!
It is so upsetting that this is how they came back - they should have just left it be, let us remember the series in all of its glory - instead they’re absolutely tarnishing it’s legacy.😭
Hurts my heart too that we don't have Samantha but also couldn't be more proud of Kim for staying away from this agenda pushing cash grab shit show! Massive respect 🥳
There is NO JOY in this show. These women seem so miserable in their lives. Really miserable. "It's like they've never been around people before." Lols. Totally. And I miss Samantha, so much...
Does anyone else find it odd/annoying/unbelievable that Che doesn’t just text to see if it’s ok that they visit Carrie or if it’s a good time to????? I mean…come on!!!!
Yeah, she just keeps popping at the funeral, the hospital, the apt. A plot device to have her interact with Miranda; but Miranda is there EVERY time she appears? Like her or not, at least Che has some energy, despite the booze and weed. Much of the rest of cast is rather listless.
Not only that but Che is Carries' boss. My boss would never come to my apartment unannounced to bring me a bottle of tequila. And oh, have sex in my kitchen with my confused best friend.
I get that they wanted to diversify this cast and update the current issues but they went ahead and made a huge mistake, basically putting down middle aged white women to bolster other ethnicities…creating another terrible stereotype.Golden Girls played older women (even though those actresses were not that old) giving us the fun and wisdom of getting older without put downs of other groups and without stereotypes.
I didn’t get the reasoning of why they felt it was necessary to discuss how many blacks would be present. Or the feeling of having to read about black authors, etc. In previous episodes, did they factor in how many gays would be present vs heterosexuals. No, because just like this, it was irrelevant. If they were your friend/guests, then they’re just that.
I mean are you fucking kidding me? I actually wasn’t sure how they were going to make Miranda and Che get it on, but having Miranda slamming shots in Carries kitchen, like a teenager, whilst she’s supposed to be nursing her best friend. I actually felt sorry for Carrie, in bed, dazed and confused, in pain, vulnerable and woken to Miranda getting fubbed off by Che! Why so intense? Why not just kiss? Is Cynthia Nixon proud of this story? Lest we forget how she reacted in ‘twenty something girls’ because of the Jell-O shots and the beach party (This is fun. How long do we have to stay?) I always hated Miranda’s sarcastic, unfunny, one-liners, but in comparison to this mess, those are like the good old days! She left her best friend to piss the bed, then thought it was funny and her excuse is, I’m not happy, I hate my life, whilst showing zero remorse for her husband or how humiliated she made her best friend. I thought the last episode was as low as this show could get, but this is just beyond words. If I was Carrie I would have fucked Miranda off, there and then. That was inexcusable. This show has done Steve dirty. He was a good guy, who always treated Miranda well, she always treated him like a dog, she always thought she was better than him. He should have stayed with Debbie, she loved and respected him. The Rose/Rock story is painfully boring. Every mum just accepts Roses new identity but Charlotte has to behave like she’s been living in an Amish community for 20 years and not New York. Also, how could they have such a huge storyline and moment with Che and Miranda then move on three months in the same episode? So, is episode 6 going to start with Miranda and Steve being completely separated and we don’t get to see any immediate aftermath! What the fuck is this shit? Oh, I almost forgot about the joking about opioid addiction (now I understand pain killer addiction!) Seriously, are we going there now? Apparently we all need a lesson in race relations, but mocking a serious health epidemic is cool! So that’s Big dead, Steve dumped, now we just need Harry to be in stage 4 terminal bowel cancer and these hideous women can just go back to fucking a geriatric New York!
@@giventoflyx Carrie didn’t know Miranda was naked, when she sent Aiden. There was an entire episode devoted to Carrie judging Samantha after catching her blowing the Mailman, yet they just brush this off. Miranda was meant to be supporting Carrie and instead got drunk with Che and let Che finger her in Carries kitchen, whilst Carrie was shouting for help, but Miranda didn’t even hear her, because she was being so loud when she came! You think Carrie sending her kind, strong boyfriend in her place because Carrie had a work commitment, to help with a back injury, is worse than what Miranda just did? Again, Carrie didn’t know Miranda was naked.
Yeah I was horrified by the sex in the kitchen thing too. She was supposed to be there for her friend who had surgery. What a shitty thing to do. The scene wasn’t even remotely sexy! It was gross. You would think a woman who is married to a woman would want lesbian sex to be portrayed as sensual and sexy. Not like a porno.
I have realized something here..and follow me on this....This ENTIRE thing is fueled by Cynthia Nixon....Look at the interviews given....The fact that she is a producer....The push for the "wokeness" of it all.....The push for her lesbian storyline...It screams Cynthia Nixon....and I also want to add that the SATC orginial story was a success because of Kim Cattrall...If she wasn't on the original series and movies, they wouldn't had been a success and that screams a real jealousy from SJP...The series was supposed to 'star' SJP and it turned out that KC was the breakout star....I don't think that had set well with SJP at all...
Ok..this is snarky but what’s with Carrie’s hair? This has to be the least attractive style for the ever stylish character. Pulling her hair back in a tight bun makes her look ancient and horse faced.SJP needs wisps…and light around her longish face
@@judyjeanson7742 What I mean is, one who knows what they are doing or has talent. They don't just look bad for SITC, they look bad for any show. I really don't understand some of the things I'm seeing. I know someone has the credit, but I really have seen shows where people have done their own make-up and hair and looked better. I don't understand.
@@donjuan7358 yep.Totally agree. It’s like the whole package of people, writers, stylists, etc., wanted to fast forward the lives of these people without a clue as to their previous selves, how they’d look, talk, evolve. Growing older turned into growing old and dumb, unfunny and completely out of touch.
I mean honestly, after hearing that the Sex and the City guy did Emily in Paris it was like an eye opener for me. Same tropes, same wokeness same using minorities and foreigners as props as in this show. While I didn't think AJLT would be any good, I didn't think it would get that bad.
Here are some perfect examples of why there needs to be more cultural responsiveness training among white people. Let's start with the media and entertainment since they are so influential in our culture. People just need to relax and get to know people as "people."
Darren Starr developed SATC but he didn't write and direct the episodes - that was Michael Patrick King. I think he was actually the problem in terms of the original shows/movies representation. And I don't think he's learned from his past mistakes with AJLT because he brought in bad writers to create WOC characters to carry all the emotional labor and growth for Carrie and friends. Not sure why you're calling Emily in Paris 'woke' - that show is nothing like AJLT except it's structured in a similar way.
Thank you for reminding me that Samantha was 55 at the end of the first movie. She looked so energetic, beautiful and glamorous..her age was never mentioned, it was a non issue!
i was kinda ok with many of the things people were upset about [ even though mr big dying felt wrong and also samantha not being in it was too ] but i had it with " just like that " when the che and miranda thing happened , this show now feels like just a way for the show writers to cover up or change the bad representation of lgbt people in OG sex and the city [ remmember the biphobic episode ? where 4 of the girls agreed that " youre either gay or straight , something in between leads to gay at the end " ] and i really dont think miranda was written as a closeted lesbian character in the 90s [ there is even an episode related to that where she kissed a girl and later said she's definitely not attracted to women ] , and mind you all this is coming from a gay guy , so i dont think im being homophobic
100%. Just awful. Awful. Just devastated they are doing this to Steve and Miranda as well. Rewatched the original show recently as well. Steve and Miranda have been through so much. Such a depressing message. That she’s basically got bored of Steve and her life.
Absolutely agree. This is writers betrayal. When the writer writes that the sky is blue then out of no where says “but wait, now the sky is green.” 😂 😂.
@@neerasinha-frazer2094 it’s awful. They were always meant to be together. How they always were as well - Steve was always comfortable and secure and that’s what she loved about him. When they are having the snacks, the teenage nightmare, Steve is going deaf. That’s life isn’t it - how utterly depressing to show she deals with that by cheating instead of making a bit more of an effort. Steve was always the more relaxed one. He’s probably happy and content. I know he cheated on her in the one movie but thought they moved past that. Annoying to see them go backwards. A forced attempt to make at least one of the characters gay 🥱. Steve and Miranda always ❤️
It was SO bad I even felt sorry for the Peach Snapple bottle for chrissakes. I didn't even know it was possible for a show to insult and degrade every ethnicity, identity, gender and sexual orientation all in one fell swoop. At this point, I'm taking it as a tasteless satire that is mocking itself so I might be able to have a laugh along the way. Kim Cattrall is looking like the big winner for passing on this fiasco.
The only 2 reasons I love this reboot... 1) Kim got to show how much of an independent queen she is!! 👑 2) I found your channel and get to watch hilarious recaps every ep from you and also juices scoop!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
And speaking of the minority props and virtue signaling, have yall noticed that Lily has virtually no storyline? So the one cast member that wasn't an "add on" and isn't white basically plays a stereotype: quiet, obedient, invisible, perfect at piano and it seems school as well. She is basically just supporting cast for Rose. She barely even has any lines! We don't get anything from her - love interest or interests at all! And she was our little miracle at the end of the series. Makes me sad. We don't even know about Rose until the first movie! It's just another example that they really haven't changed how they treat those that don't look like them. But at least in the series they didn't try to pretend and I loved them for it. Hopefully I end up eating my words and she gets some sort of storyline. Anyway, just my two cents. Keep the videos comin!
Good point. Also, it’s only natural for Lily to wonder about her real parents. Especially as a teen, has she ever felt out of place being a different race?
lol. They need to just rename it Load of Pants. And torture the hell out of Miranda and Carrie every episode. Just go full metal jacket on the humiliation. They digested this poop, so they can deal with the plumbing.
Carries peeing in a Snapple bottle was just too much. I was thoroughly grossed out. Hip surgery, really? What's next, the Carrie wears depends episode? I mean, come on! Women in their fifties are have much more going on in their lives than the crap they are showing. It's ridiculous. I am in my early fifties and have nothing in common with them. I feel much younger than these ladies. Hell, the Golden Girls was way better than this trash of a show.
I do agree with their pathetic approach to women aging. But hip replacement is more common now - I do have friends in their 50s who have had it done. They could have actually treated this in a naturally funny way. What a disappointment.
im fine with Miranda being gay but the cheating on steve cause she is bored seems so false to me. i hope they dont give her this happy ending. i hope she loses everything and has to start over
Ten bucks says Miranda enters a fling with Che thinking “I understand what women need because I am one.” And, SURPRISE, Che dumps her for not being a good partner. To be rejected by a man is no big deal, but to be rejected by one of her own will destroy her. Hee, hee….
I’m in on that. I’m having Steve moving to Florida to open a bar and Brady going with him because Miranda is a poor mother who sets no boundaries for him. Let her hit skid row and have to hang out with the subway people. Because she never rode a subway, and Cynthia Nixons social justice warrior ass never had to mingle with the commoners.
@@bubblegammu Yeah, I did a rewrite of where I had her doing blowies for booze in the subway. Trying to bring the sex back into the city. Or just have an episode titled Push Miranda in front of the Train. Too harsh?
I am these ladies age! Why i was so excited about this reboot. Seeing woman of a certain age still being out there! If she stopped wearing heels she might nor need hip surgery!
I’m 55 and a traveling teacher. Teaching k-12 is not for the faint of heart - especially these days. The good thing about this show - I don’t feel so old now! And your re-caps are mint! Get better soon and Happy New Year! 🎆
Miranda has apparently forgotten back in season 1 when she was met a lesbian and later kissed her and said "yes, no doubt straight" and the woman says "yes, you are”
And the mental gymnastics people in the”Miranda was always a lesbian” camp. “But lesbians are not attracted to every woman. “ or “She only loved Steve because he was the father of her child.” Damn, at least make her bisexual. That would make it more bearable to me (especially with the scarcity of bisexual female characters who end up with women, which when that happens, people go all “she was gay/compulsory heterosexuality, etc”) which spills to people who go through this in real life.
The people watching didn't piss anyone off. It just shows the absence of creativity and talent coming out of Hollywood which IMO is across the board with most of what comes out.
They should have rebranded this show “50 Is The New 90”. And just so stupid - usIng an umbrella instead of the bannister? And is Snapple the new Peloton for bad product placement?
I’m 51 and don’t feel old, but watching this it’s starting to convince me that maybe I should start feeling geriatric and I’m an old lady. This show continues to bash 50 plus, so much for positivity eh!?
Being a nurse for 23 years, this show was so medically inaccurate in so many ways. It was so bad. This show is getting worse by the minute. It’s like a bad car wreck you can’t turn away from. So many cringe worthy moments. Remember when SATC had the best quotable lines? I still quote lines from it and I don’t even realize it. Not this dumpster fire. No witty lines. No smart writing.
Glad you are a medical professional because maybe you can answer the question of how they allowed pearl earrings and a necklace during/after surgery???
@@jodibrooklyn1033 exactly! I work in PreOp and Recovery and we don’t allow jewelry of any kind. And why is she wearing a cardigan too? They have her not using hip precautions for all of it and in Anthony’s van she has some kind of hip brace that we never see again. Hip replacement patients don’t use crutches. They are allowed to be weight bearing. They use a walker to keep them steady and prevent falls. No reason for crutches. It’s all so dumb.
COME ON!!! We've all suffered enough the past 2 years. This is honestly just makes everything worse for some reason. Disappointment is and understatement. Betrayed seems more like it. We grew up with this show and they do us dirty like this? I'll say it again; Someone give Che a Peleton please!
High, bringing large bottles of booze, for someone who is probably on pain killers, fingering someone in someone’s home. Just a disrespectful person, point blank. Plus after Miranda is now pretending that Steve , who has never pleasured her the entire relationship apparently, despite their love story, starting with a one night stand, Che had a smirk on their face, and was leaving like a loser, while Miranda was clinging to them. Seems like they are only interested in hookups and sexual conquests. I personally would never disrespect someone by engaging in an affair with someone who is married with children. It doesn’t speak well of the person, and your relationship is starting off with pain, and lying.
@@AvecPoesie as do we all. And who the hell brings tequila to a person who is recovering from surgery and is taking opioids??opioid??? Who the fuck does shots after something like that?
I'm 55 years old. I was excited for this continuation of these legacy characters. I cannot be more disappointed if I tried. I don't need to be beaten over the head about my age through these characters. If anything, I want to see how they celebrate fashion/lifestyle at this age -- not broken hips and peeing issues (Harry) and hearing loss (Steve) and 'granny gray hair' (Miranda.) Why don't we all get dentures and sit with blankets over our knees in 100 degree weather, yelling at kids to get off our lawns? We're a millisecond away from that. And, of course, the ENTIRE show is one big cringe-fest. It's such an incredible waste of time. (Great review, though! I enjoyed watching this and I do hope you feel better!!)
There is just nothing fun about this ‘new’ chapter. And every ‘crisis’ they have seems self imposed. Too much money and a lack of meaningful employment leads to this kinda life where you have to invent drama to have something to fill the days. At least Samantha could have fun - living her life! My goodness.
Sure hope your throat doesn’t feel as bad as it sounds. Great commentary. Another thing that bothers me is that Che is smoking pot constantly. Why on earth would the Miranda we used to know be attracted to a pothead.
As a fan of the original show, I knew I would be tuning in to the reboot just to be nosey (I think🤷🏾♀️). I do think that, unlike many other series, Sex in the City has had the uncommon opportunity to give the audience a full story of each character. We had six seasons and two (rather mediocre) films. I am of the belief that this reboot is just beating a horse that was cremated years ago. This show lacks the sophistication that we saw in the original. It does come off as desperate. I probably will continue to tune in because what else is there to watch on Thursday 😂.
Imho Carrie would be too proud to use a cane in public..and because she "self diagnosed" herself she didn't think it was a big deal using the umbrella for balance...
Samantha would have NEVER not responded to Carrie's, "I miss you." Never!!!! I am so disgusted with how they are portraying my ppl. Samantha is MY ppl.🤣
I understand there’s a different climate in today’s world than there was during the run of the series and the movies. However, when I watch tv I want to escape everything going on and go into a world where nothing ever made since. Like carries wardrobe and home and her job and how she never went to buy groceries but somehow was fabulous. We never questioned the show because we wanted to be the characters and we wanted to drink cosmos and wear beautiful outfits and go to fabulous places and see what our ladies were up to. Now the writers are forcing modern day issues on us as if we don’t hear it enough. Tv shows are about escaping into another world. Shoot why can’t they take on another generation of ladies in their 30s who were just like them ?
Agreed! The original show brought up a few politicized topics here and there but it was always light hearted. It originally aired in 1998, which means pre 9/11 and they never even brought that up at all! (most likely because it was so devastating) so why the need to include all the political issues of today's society? We want to escape our problems with TV, not be bombarded with them :(
@@taina2622 especially now-with Covid and the ongoing pandemic!! Something lighthearted and fun would have been a delicious treat!! When I tuned in the first episode I was looking forward to some fun and an uplift and all I got was a downer. So sad 😞 the show could have been so much more!!
Your so right Christina we watch because we want to be a part of fashion and cosmos and catch up on their lives I can watch the news if I want reality it’s quite a lot out in the world and a little escape is good for our well being!
Honestly, I would be less disappointed if Samantha and Stanford fell madly in love, had three biological children and five adopted and joined the Amish people. Irony off.
Gotta love the fat-shaming at the end of the episode when Carrie passes on the conventionally unattractive physical therapist. I spent this entire episode yelling at the screen. And I felt vindicated by the AV Club review, which agrees with me that Carrie needed surgery because she spent her life in stilettos.
I agree and I thought the reason for the hip was going to be heels! And it's some random birth defect. It couldn't be because of the age they keep mentioning or the shoes. It had to be some random out of the way thing. Make it make sense🙄
And Just Like That…..this is a train wreck. We are in a pandemic. Watching programs is for enjoyment. This is pure torture. Not sure but I think watching the news in the real world is better than And Just Like That Trash. And, I loved the original series. Absolutely have watched it over and over. Carrie and Big….loved them….now, it’s not funny, not entertaining….it’s a tragedy.

Because what they really wanted was for everyone to tell them they hadn't aged a day.
@@Outdafakeonz My hubby and I do the same thing although we are ten years younger than the characters. Every time we get an ache or pain we complain about how old we are. Totally agree. I'm a PICU RN and this is ridiculous. My dad had a hip replacement before he was 40 due to a bad car accident. I hope you are doing well.
Oh get over yourself it is a television show and not reality.
WTF?!!
@@EvokeSelf I already gave up on heels 👠 lol
Dolly Parton always wears high heels, and has never had hip surgery and she's 75. The opportunity they missed was educating people that the reason Carrie's hip went out was years and years of smoking, depleting her body of Vitamin C, thus ruining her cartilage. A deficiency of vitamin C causes scurvy which is malformation of collagen. Therefore, this deficiency can cause pigmentation of the skin, open and bleeding wounds on the skin and mucosal membranes and reduced mobility caused by degeneration of the cartilage since collagen makes up the connective tissues at the joints.
Lol! Bc SJP has a shoe line!
And made it congenital! She would have already had problems from the heels & all the sex way before now! Lol

Cynthia is actually bisexual.
@@djpekky Who gives af? Miranda is straight.
It doesn’t fit Miranda’s personality at all.

The way the writers have completely trashed over Steve's character is the most awful thing for me. They turned him into a cheater for no reason in the first movie and now we're supposed to believe Steve is suddenly a deaf, old man that Miranda can't stand? Oh please.
Even Carrie doеsn't believe her.
Even excessive partying in your 30 s doesn’t turn you into decepid old people at 55, this is just sooooo bad🤢
I'd love to be 50 again. I don't look or act like any of them, even though I'm older. Not watching, just reading reviews. What a mess.
I HATE the grey hair. Carrie would`ve never left her hair like that. The women are in their 50s, yet deliberately made to look 70.
they just destroyed feminity. I dont need anybody teaching me what it means to be a woman. Awful writers...Too bad for the actors..
Why does Carrie constantly put her hair up in that tight bun? It makes her look like she is in her mid 70's not 50's!!
They gave Miranda all of Carrie's worst traits. Selfish & inconsiderate. Miranda wasn't this awful in SATC.
Carrie's still pretty awful on her own.
She was actually surprisingly nurturing due to her caring for Steve's mom.
Sara Ramirez must be getting annihilated in their Instagram comments. Comments are limited and only nice comments are visible.
Hahahaha! That was brilliant. I'm so with you. Grabbing the cleaning products - I think I'll join you...
@@fieryheadedgirl Maybe it could be a tagline. "AJLT.....less fun than cleaning toilets" 😂
Or fell off one of her sky-high heels and sprained her ankle
Yes! Bunion surgery! That would've fitted perfectly and they could've talked all about her feet being wrecked from all the years of Manolos
There acting like their in their 80 s ! Even tons of partying in your 30 s doesn’t make you this decepid.. who wrote this s*i*?
Well, to be fair, Mrs. Doubtfire wasn't a woman, she was a character played by Robin Williams, who I guess was in his early 40s then.
Even Robin was still active into his 70s shopping at his local bike store. These writers just don’t know how active seniors can be.
I think it's OK to be honest about the ways in which aging sucks (let's be honest -- it's not all roses, and in the end, it leads to death), but this show is not hitting the mark at all.
Everyone ages differently
I am no longer watching the show … just your reviews! 😂
They are so much better!
Right!? Lol
Me too. The reviews are more interesting than the show.. 😷
Spot on!! The reviews are 1000 times better than the stupid show. I stop watching after the 2nd episode.... ATROCIOUS!!!
Me too. This episode was the final nail in the coffin. Too stupid.
Anthony is definitely the best character on this show. It seems like he’s the only one who is allowed to have fun.
Thank god for Anthony
He's the only one who knows who he is and doesn't give a shit 🤷🏻♀️
I’m 57 and it makes my heart sick that this pathetic series is making me feel that I am old. I run around a restaurant slinging hash 6 days a week. My stats in my Apple Watch at work is on average 7 miles. I’m shocked that they are so disconnected and quite frankly saddened.
My lovely 78 year old aunt acts younger than they do!
You look amazing! Thought you were in your 30s.
you’re goals 💚😊
A better storyline would be that Carrie is a jogger (or Charlotte could have this plot) and needs surgery because jogging for years has been hard on her body. I know people who needed surgery on their hips and knees but it’s because they exercise. My mom is getting surgery hopefully next year but she is 70 and it’s because she put on unhealthy weight. To make Carrie needing a hi replacement is really sick.
I’m 57 and will be 58 in February. I resent the fact they act like we are in our 90s. Physical, aside from menopause…. I feel fabulous and energetic.
I agree
He cheated because she pretty much turned frigid
Agreed!!!!
That scene was not even remotely sexy. They have taken the sex out of sex and the city.
And just like THAT, you're a better writer than those so-called writers of that awful show! 😂
Where do I start:
1. Che is a problem. If she was a male boss of Carries doing that to Miranda in her apt that would be an HR visit.
2. When Carrie says that light comment about opioids. And that there’s something to it wink wink… the Gall!there’s an opioid epidemic
3.the Rose thing: it’s so awful that the her school principal and teacher tells them that they take their lead from a 12 year old instead of their parents.
Absolutely agree with this. This show is toxic to the core.
Yep - agree with everything you just said.
And I recently watched a documentary about the opioid crisis and was baffled when they where bringing up the painkillers as something good when people get addicted to them. It’s like this shit show gets worse by the minutes passing
Samantha turned 50 in the first sex in the city movie
And she looked fucking fabulous 😍
@@sharonmonathcohen3642 have you ever noticed the way Miranda eats in any dinner scene in SATC?
YES!! And sadly, we may never hear anyone else say, "I'm fifty-fucking-two and I'm gonna rock this dress." No, Carrie is off her rocker in Birkenstocks. WTF?!
@@Lydia_Faulkner And she still looks fabulous! That's why she didn't come back, the others were always jealous of her.

Grace and Frankie is hilarious..they are older than these women but act younger!! This could have been a Fabulous show...

I love Grace and Frankie, agree completely!
Yes!! The weekend after the first episode of AJLT came out, I was so depressed over Big's death I caught up on Grace and Frankie. SO much more fun!!
the writers and the acting should get the worst possible actors and writing award. HBO you put out such excellent work how could you possibly allow this to go out into the world on the HBO platform?????
But watch it get like 30 emmys 😂
Yes, they should receive the golden raspberry award

Carrie has always been dismissive and pointed the conversation back to herself. Always.
@Becky Ellis I don't see anymore who is Carry as a person? Much less I see her as a friend... Judgemental and dismissive - yes, but nothing more left of Carry...
YES!
As a 58 year old women who inherited knee issues (I think we all get knee issues at this age), I would not live in a walk-up brownstone with a very tall staircase to enter the building. Why would she leave her elevator building.
@piglet thank you. I’m finding that Pilates and working the IT band helps. I’ll try cycling more.
oh and not interested in charlotte's family drama its not even interesting, its like the definition of 1st world problems
I would bet that Cynthia Nixon had some influence on the writers' decision with her new love interest.
I think she somehow is confused between this character and her real life personal.
I don’t get why she wouldn’t want to show lesbian sex that was sexy. It looked like a porn. Maybe she thought that was sexy but I promise it can be much more sensual then that 🤷🏼♀️
Totally agree!!
If so, it's not good for the SATC storyline. Their marriage was a huge plot in one of the movies...now this?! The men continue losing on SATC
It’s repulsive
So, in this one episode, the writers literally destroy the whole love story of Miranda and Steve 🙄
We all saw that Miranda was going to have some affair with Che, but for Miranda to then say to Carrie - she has been miserable forever!
As someone who shipped Miranda and Steve, I'm so sad it has come to this 😞
I couldn't agree more.
@Kari Stevens it's the health!!!!!
@Kari Stevens she is happily aging very well, embracing the grey in her hair
Good for her, I'm in my 50s and watching the writers treat these women as if they're in their 80s makes me cringe. Carrie's surgery, Steve's hearing aids... come on. And all of a sudden Miranda turning bi....I just can't with these people.
@@Nautinthislifetime That’s great! Similar to your mom, but I'm 76 years young, and I don't want to let my hair go gray because I know it would look awful and my stylist agrees with me! The original series had so much heart in it. Samantha’s cancer was an amazing story. The new show is nothing like the old.
My mom is in her mid 50s and she's fabulous! These ladies are acting my grandma's age which is late 80s...
Yesss! Could not agree more!
I'm 50 and OMG I'm not like them!!!

The whole sex situation with Brady is just SUPER cringy & uncomfortable. He’s a kid - that is just gross 🤮

I must say that I don't laugh at all while watching the show. I feel constant cringe and of course cannot look away from this disaster trainwreck. But I was more excited for this review than the episode itself. And I am not disappointed ;) I agree with you 💯%.
I actually watched the episode so that I could watch this recap and know what was being discussed.
She even kept yanking at the sheet when Carrie yelled "stop, you're hurting me."
I just hope there's also a scene were Steve gets to tell Miranda off.
I read those words whilst hearing Steve's voice in my mind. Perfectly written. I hope something akin to that outcome comes along.
If only.
This monologue is better than all the writing in the released episodes combined.
Perfectly written 😳
Aiden VOLUNTEERED to help Miranda, because he was a Prince. Steve was positive and also very kind. These women finally found good men and then didn't appreciate them!
“Golden Girls” was so much a funnier show about colicky old babes!
Honestly, having sex in the kitchen of your friend you are supposed to be helping after surgery is really selfish. Her character is awful.
Yes, remember how pissed Miranda was when she needed Carrie (she threw her back out), and Carrie sent Aidan. Miranda schooled Carrie hard on that one about being selfish
LMAO - I know this series too well for my own sanity 🤣
Just as selfish as Carrie staying home with Big to eat politically incorrect meat (veal) when she and Miranda was supposed to have lunch. Fuck ha.🤣
The whole thing was disgusting.
@@dismissiveavoidant9860 So disgusting, as in I can't unsee that horrible, UN-sexy scene!!
I don’t think they should have joked around about opioids as much as they did in this - it was odd how they are going after Miranda’s drinking problem, but glamorizing opiate highs/stating that Carrie is a better version of herself on them/wishing they had access to them. Very odd. Of all things to joke about.
I agree with you!!! 100%
Yep!!! I thought the same thing!
Spot on with your comment!

Genius comment.
Hah. All three single again was my prediction at the outset. I was being tongue in cheek.
I never thought they’d actually go there.
Yep, it may be a forecast, the three of them all alone again.
I think you're onto something. Miranda was definitely the "star" of this episode.
I agree
Ok..this is snarky but what’s with Carrie’s hair? This has to be the least attractive style for the ever stylish character. Pulling her hair back in a tight bun makes her look ancient and horse faced.SJP needs wisps…and light around her longish face
In the hospital with the gray sweater and pearls and the hair, it was too much
I really think the budget doesn't allow for a stylist.
@@donjuan7358 you’re kidding of course..this show is all stylists and I’m betting SJP is Hands on. Wtf?
@@deborahhoffman7394 You mean the way we always did before all this woke nonsense and being told we're all racists?
Thank you for reminding me that Samantha was 55 at the end of the first movie. She looked so energetic, beautiful and glamorous..her age was never mentioned, it was a non issue!
when u think it'll can not get any worst and then u watch this episode and have a massive relieve that Kim refused to participate in this nightmare
Yep. She dodged a huge bullet.
I agree with you. This episode sucked worse than the others. So disappointed😔 I also miss Carrie’s voiceovers..,
i was kinda ok with many of the things people were upset about [ even though mr big dying felt wrong and also samantha not being in it was too ] but i had it with " just like that " when the che and miranda thing happened , this show now feels like just a way for the show writers to cover up or change the bad representation of lgbt people in OG sex and the city [ remmember the biphobic episode ? where 4 of the girls agreed that " youre either gay or straight , something in between leads to gay at the end " ] and i really dont think miranda was written as a closeted lesbian character in the 90s [ there is even an episode related to that where she kissed a girl and later said she's definitely not attracted to women ] , and mind you all this is coming from a gay guy , so i dont think im being homophobic
100%. Just awful. Awful. Just devastated they are doing this to Steve and Miranda as well. Rewatched the original show recently as well. Steve and Miranda have been through so much. Such a depressing message. That she’s basically got bored of Steve and her life.
@@samwilliams3353 I know. The love between Miranda & Steve was awesome! I can’t believe they’re taking that away from us
You’re not being homophobic, no one is. They messed up everything, Miranda truly never gave off the bi vibe and now this feels forced
Kim, “🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣”
The only 2 reasons I love this reboot...
1) Kim got to show how much of an independent queen she is!! 👑
2) I found your channel and get to watch hilarious recaps every ep from you and also juices scoop!!
Woa.... GOOD POINT...
Good point. Also, it’s only natural for Lily to wonder about her real parents. Especially as a teen, has she ever felt out of place being a different race?
Yes!! Great point .
Yes! I would love to see Lily explore who she is and where she’s from. That would actually be a realistic non pandering opportunity
Feel better. This was your best review yet. I loved..." who did we piss off to get this show?" You're right. It's only getting worse.
Try to imagine 13 episodes of this insufferable pathetic excuse for a show! Word to HBO,do not renew this load of pants.
Too harsh?
My mother is these ladies ages and she’s healthier than I could ever hope to be. It’s ridiculous.
I am these ladies age! Why i was so excited about this reboot. Seeing woman of a certain age still being out there! If she stopped wearing heels she might nor need hip surgery!
I’m 69 and I’m healthier than these women. Hint - the ageism is coming from inside the house.
For real! When the first movie ended, Samantha was 50 and fabulous. These ladies are now in their early 50s, so why are they 80?
My father is 30 years older than these ladies and is completely active
*Everyone:* We're trapped in a joyless show that's more like misery porn. Please help!🥺
The Che and Miranda scene is a boner alert! Hot AF
😂 Misery porn!😂
COVID-19 FEVER NIGHTMARE
I’m 55 and a traveling teacher. Teaching k-12 is not for the faint of heart - especially these days. The good thing about this show - I don’t feel so old now! And your re-caps are mint! Get better soon and Happy New Year! 🎆
Thank you so much! You are so interesting traveling teacher that’s so cool! Happy New Year ❤️
Godspeed and bless you Lone Star. Yours is the most noble profession.
“ or “She only loved Steve because he was the father of her child.”
Damn, at least make her bisexual.
@J Ds both of your comments are so on point, the whole thing is just insulting by now
I’m 51 and don’t feel old, but watching this it’s starting to convince me that maybe I should start feeling geriatric and I’m an old lady. This show continues to bash 50 plus, so much for positivity eh!?
In the first draft of the script, Big died choking on a Snapple.
Ty! I just kept thinking, why wouldn’t she have a catheter in? She just had hip surgery. Sigh, I dunno ..
“Am I peeing?” Oh did the drugs make you lose your hearing too?
Yes. And I had the whole 9 yards of treatment for breast cancer, and I remember the way Samantha’s treatment was covered.
COME ON!!! We've all suffered enough the past 2 years. This is honestly just makes everything worse for some reason. Disappointment is and understatement. Betrayed seems more like it. We grew up with this show and they do us dirty like this? I'll say it again; Someone give Che a Peleton please!
This comment! 💯
And a Nordic trak because Che is also from the nineties and I want to cover all bases.
Che doesn’t seem to be too comfortable with herself as she’s always high.
Such a great point.
I can't stand her.
I LOATHE Che.
I'm 55 too and I lol with your comments lol
Lololol beating a horse that was cremated years ago... that was gold. You have more wit than the writers of this show!
I’ll keep watching because it’s like watching a Mack truck lose its breaks going down a hill.
@@taina2622 thank you!!!!
Totally agree, well said!
I was dying when she walked up the stairs with an umbrella as a cane. I knew you were probably cracking up too in disbelief!
Considering there was a giant hand rail...omg...such a joke
Imho Carrie would be too proud to use a cane in public..and because she "self diagnosed" herself she didn't think it was a big deal using the umbrella for balance...
Samantha would have NEVER not responded to Carrie's, "I miss you." Never!!!! I am so disgusted with how they are portraying my ppl. Samantha is MY ppl.🤣
So, quick petty moment: it's a revival , not a reboot. Want to say, so glad Kim Catrall kept herself out of this "shi(r)t show
She knew it was going to be awful
I completely agree. TV is about escapism. A new group of women in their 30's or 40's would've been better
Thank you for pointing this out. I personally found the health insurance approved therapist cute!
I agree and I thought the reason for the hip was going to be heels! And it's some random birth defect. It couldn't be because of the age they keep mentioning or the shoes. It had to be some random out of the way thing. Make it make sense🙄
That is definitely still good ole Hollywood. Completely woke in acceptance of all genders and nationalities...unless you're fat or unattractive.
Cynthia Nixon is Not my Miranda. Gosh, this hurt all the SATC legacy
I feel like they dumbed her down or something I used to like this character and now she’s terrible she acts like a fucking teenager.
I won't be able to watch Sex and the City ever again. They ruined it for me. 😓
By not being in it, Samantha is still the best character in this show. I see why she moved to London. I would too....
