Can you see Samantha Jones as Morpheus? “Oh honey! You Take The Red Pill - You Stay In Wonderland, And I Show You How Deep my vagina goes.” “I can only show you the door, you’re the one who has to put your cock in it!” “A Sentinel For Every Man, Woman, And Child In Zion. Why should I have to share?” “You Have To Understand, Most People Are Not Ready To Be Unplugged... certainly my vibrator isn’t!”
If only she were part of this, though. I feel like she could save it just by walking in and being like, "Honey, you're 55, not 80." (Eye roll.) Same way she called Miranda out on not doing her downstairs maintenance in the first movie. But yeah, she definitely made the right choice.
My mom is 80, still loves to be beautiful and keep up with her fashion as it makes her feel good and wonderful. This show could have gone differently….. I has ruined the series -- love your reviews - 💙. “On point!” --
@@alemapd13 - awe thank you- !!!!!!!!!! 💙 - She still likes to put the her face creams on at night and keep her hair colored and wear decent and colorful clothes (in taste) -- these ladies are my age and acting like senior citizens.
My thoughts: • Carrie has a bun because she’s an Old Maid now! • They’ve made Charlotte the ultimate Old Maid because she can’t relate to her kids becoming teenagers. That’s not Charlotte. Are they going to show her painting a plate in that shop from SATC next? • They decided to check the ‘cultural appropriation’ box this time (they’re working through a list) • They showed the side characters having dinner because they wanted a scene with no white people in it to prove they’re so inclusive now • The facelift doctor - OMG, compare that to when Samantha saw a professional doctor who drew red lines on her. This ‘doctor’ should be struck off • Who buys an even bigger apartment when their beloved spouse has just died? Usually those who hated their spouse imo. One minute she’s downsizing from the Big apartment to her old one, now she’s going BIG?! And then changing her mind? That beep is her brain malfunctioning • We had a gratuitous sex and masturbation scene to prove this series is still raunchy *eyeroll* • No offence to anyone with ADHD but the lack of context around ANYTHING suggests that the writers can’t concentrate on anything for more than a nanosecond • I’m getting so fed up of everyone being so miserable all the time. Is the show being sponsored by some brand of antidepressants?
Not forget they HAD to include a scene with Miranda's legs falling asleep just after a few mins of having lunch at a park bench..because you know...she is growing old as fuck (this show is very ageist)
As a mother, there is ZERO chance a child knocking on the door during your “private” time doesn’t immediately, if not sooner, take you out of the zone. To actually think you’d keep going and finish while responding to your kid, PURE NONSENSE! Why is the show over woke on nearly every topic but thinks it’s fine to over sexualize a minor?! These writers are everything wrong with the current climate.
I hate how the writers try to make you feel sorry for Carrie at every point. You don't get sympathy points for having a hard time picking from multi-million dollar apartments.
Yes, also she's been extremely dismissive of all of Charlotte's very reasonable concerns regarding Miranda's drinking and only starting to give a $hit when she caught Miranda and Che in her kitchen. Seems like a real friend would have 1. Not been dismissive of Charlotte like that and 2. Given a crap about her other friend's drinking well before it directly impacted herself.
It's hilarious how unrelatable the whole show is. They're so out of touch with reality, it's absurd. They genuinely have no idea what normal people even care about anymore, let alone how we think and act. They must live in the most god-awful Hollywood bubble
Anyone remember back when Miranda discovered she was so in love with Steve she couldn't live without him, despite the fact that she had sworn off marriage, sent him away and the two were dating different people? I believe Steve's line after he realized Miranda was actually in love with him was something like "Miranda, you're the one. You've always been the one." THAT was the SATC I loved.
It's sad that Miranda hasn't thought about Steve ONCE this whole time. How he would feel. When he cheated in the first movie, he immediately confessed and fought hard trying to win her back. Miranda does it and now she's all about Che. The only thing that will make this okay is if Steve finds out in the season finale or something and says "You broke us."
Right?! And in the last episode when she said she “hates her marriage” and Carrie said since when? And she says, “I don’t know. Since forever.” BULLSHIT!!! Miranda LOVED Steve and her marriage! That’s why she met him on the Brooklyn Bridge! I’m just astounded at how much they’ve disregarded all of the things we’ve grown to know and love about these women.
@@Queen_G_513 not to mention SHE PROPOSED TO HIM OVER $3 beers! She also LOVED doing his laundry on saturdays, until the skid mark situation. She moved to Brooklyn and took his mother in on her own fruition! So now it’s to hell with Steve? I mean seriously it’s just so ridiculous 🤦🏽♀️
The actor who played Seema's father in this episode is the same actor that played the waiter who consoled and kissed Samantha after she got stood up in a restaurant in an early season of SATC.
Yessss!!!! I noticed that right away. They like to recycle the old actors from the show. Remember when Justin Theroux played some random date for Carrie and then he was a totally different guy, Valerie Harpers son who couldn't hold "it" together 😆
I think the writers/producers of this show forgot one of the major reasons SATC was such a hit in the first place: most people will never get to have their glamorous, big city life. And each of the main characters were relatable in a way that we could pick one of them to identify ourselves with. (It's the same reason people like sci fi shows like Star Trek. Most of us will never get to travel to space.) We lived vicariously through these characters so we could also enjoy the playground that was New York City at that time. And the characters had a blast, so we had a blast. This new show has lost all that. No one wants to be these characters. Even the writers make them out to be old codgers who complain about everything. Who wants to live vicariously through these ladies? Who wants to live in their world? I don't.
Exactly!!! I went through my early 20s with this show! I loved it!!! I’m black and I didn’t care that these were whit women! Now they pushed in these ppl of colour out of white guilt!!! These characters have no substance are are terribly cringe worthy!
I'm in AWE of how terrible this show is. The fact that Steve isn't even shown in this episode?!! In the beginning, I wanted to give everyone involved the benefit of the doubt but the fact that they looked at this script and was on board speaks volumes. In the words of Carrie, this franchise is so over we need a new word for over.
Steve is busy making sure that big paycheck cleared! Miranda is more interested in her vibrator than her son. I hope he wanted to talk to Miranda about an unplanned pregnancy.
Still trying to figure out what is offensive about having a collection of dolls...but then again, nothing makes sense in this cringe show full of random scenes and dull lines. Also I cringed so hard when Charlotte said Che is cool and charismatic....What?? :D Why do they try so hard to make us like this repulsive character...This show is so bad I can't believe it.
Ché's repulsive because such a sense of entitlement and disregard/disrespect of others: smoking in an elevator, smoking at a funeral, obnoxiousness of showing up without invitation or previous arrangement to Carrie's hospital room and home, lack of respect for actions in Carrie's home...
I could see a teen saying that about the dolls just because they don’t like or want them in their room. I have three teenage girls, and I couldn’t imagine in a million years they would want a doll collection hanging in their bedroom. And they sure as hell would not want to keep it decorated the same way I decorated it when they were little. The writers are treating Charlotte as if she’s some clueless mom who doesn’t know her own children very well. She’s was always traditional, but not stupid. It’s as if the writers are trying really hard to make each character so unlikable and clueless.
It’s was so patronizing how AJLT addressed alcoholism. Considering my own father died from that disease I found the way Miranda’s alcoholism was addressed really insulting.
@@iris089 Alcoholism doesn’t work that way. Like Demi Moore said in her autobiography, “Inside Out” some people don’t have an off switch. Alcoholics can’t give it up that easy. Miranda could have been made to visit an AA meeting or mental health visit or two. The writers have no clue
I just realized that the biggest problem with just like that is, that it's just not fun. I used to love those characters and the world they lived in. All the parties, hot men, witty women, relatable problems, over the top fashion and all. But nowadays they are just no fun and even New York City looks dull and boring. Carie is not even hyper about wearing the clothes she loves. And on top of that, I can't stand shows that try to fit the zeitgeist by preaching to their audience. Those shows never age well. I wish they had better writers, maybe ones who live in the same world as us and not some Twitter like bubble. Also why is Brady in more episodes than Steve?! 🤦
It’s such a departure from how the original series made me feel. I would go in to work the next day and we would recap and laugh out loud about some of the top moments. This show is just disappointing and cringe. Where is the fun? Where are the stories we can all relate to and laugh about at work the next day ?
Exactly ..we can talk about it to death but it is all one issue ..JOYLESS..I thought these ladies would be running around NYC in politics , writing, parenting , this is just sad
I’ve been rewatching the original series and I think you’ve totally nailed what’s missing from this new show - that sense of fun. Even with all its forced wokeness and ageism, it would probably be a lot more bearable if it was any fun, and it’s just not.
Charlotte is the only one who seems to care about Carrie and Miranda, she noticed Miranda's drinking problem, she confronted her about the affair with that Che person, she's the only one trying to help Carrie with Big's death, all while dealing with her children's problems. Meanwhile Carrie only cares about wearing hideous hats and Miranda appears to have severe brain damage. What have they done to this show.
I’m so disappointed in this show that it almost brings me to tears lol. I’m a 31 year old Black woman and SATC is like my favorite show of all time. I just remember watching with my mom and all of my aunts when I was a kid. Even with my eyes covered on the sex scenes😂, I knew what it was all about. And as inappropriate as that sounds now, it was like my introduction into the big girls club. And watching the series over again many times over the years, I started to relate each of the ladies to myself and my friends. It didn’t matter that they were white or well-to-do or ANY OF THAT. It was fun and funny and so fucking cool! I tried so hard to like this show, or at least to not hate it but……. They’re ruining my favorite characters! And not to mention… my mom and her twin sister are 55 and they’re super pissed at how they’re approaching the age issue.
55 is the new 95, apparently. It's kind of crazy how "Golden Girls," a show about older women made almost 40 years ago, managed to be way more age-positive than a supposedly well-informed and sensitive 2021 show.
Agreed! I'm 46 and am finding it so irritating that they act like in five years or so, I'll be ready for the retirement home. And they have to mention age in every episode, every scene. Even in the one where she's making herself something to eat, she has to mutter, "Not too much salt..." Because, y'know, she's old. 🙄
@@cv8499 NOT TOO MUCH SALT! 😂 Also, the show has this pretty clear viewpoint that younger people are sort of by default more informed and "correct" than older people. And yeah I would guess some of current discourse might be more easily understood by younger people, but I don't know -- maybe the generations can learn from each other? Maybe Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte, despite being 190 years old, don't need to be put out to pasture OR completely change how they live in the world? Maybe there is something they can impart to the younger characters?
No show or media seems to take the victim of a destroyed marriage feelings and fall out into consideration ever! We are all supposed to CELEBRATE the cheater becoming their authentic self! it drives me crazy, how about becoming authentic with compassion for the person who’s many years of life you have stolen under false pretenses.
I cannot stand any entertainment that negates the pain and betrayal of a heterosexual person just because their partner is "discovering" themselves. It happens all the time. The betrayer is shown as the victim, the other, as flotsam and jetsam in the way.
One thing I‘ll give them credit for is the character of Seema. She feels like a character that could’ve been in the original series - maybe because she’s in the predicament the women during the show were in, an unmarried woman with no kids of a particular age looking for love. In such an awful show, her essence is almost a reminder of what I liked about the original if that makes sense. I like that she’s already called out Carrie on her insensitivity and seeing that she’s not a white woman, this is the best example of how the writers have included diversity without it feeling forced.
The reason we like her, cause i do too is because i think they based her bold character on Samantha and she reminds me of her bossiness and dynamic character.
Kim was 100% right to run screaming from the Samantha/Brady storyline. Even without the older woman angle, they still seem bound and determined to make the Brady arc creepy.
It feels like Sarah Jessica Parker is playing a completely different person from the original series. I've been watching old episodes and she did wear jeans with flats and jogging shorts with flip flops. It wasn't all formalwear all the time, which is so uptight and aging. Carrie was always funny/bouncy and able to diffuse tension with a quip. Now her face is so blank and she does this weird creepy expression where she's looking at someone or something but her eyes don't focus and she blinks slowly like one of those new robots! *shiver* Where is Carrie!? I guess she really is Caroline Preston, whoever the hell that is!
Then we have Carrie and her big stupid hat. 😂😂 Can't and won't even watch this shlock so count on your hilarious and spot on recaps. Don't be concerned about being the ahole, the only ahole here is this pointless, painful, desperate and aggressively aholish series.
Well, first of all: Charlotte tortured us enough with her fertility problems back in the original SATC. I just CAN NOT stand Carrie being soooo entitled, negative, shitty, pretentious… I couldn’t stand to be around her for a minute. Everything is just to vomit! Rose, Lili, side characters, the three grandmas. Just awful!!! Kim saved herself and Samantha! 🙏🏻
What are the rest of us who can't afford a $4MM apartment in downtown Manhattan supposed to think? Poor Carrie. She is stuck in a gorgeous apartment with a wrap-around terrace overlooking the river. And -- shucks- a gourmet kitchen where she can't find what is beeping? Really? Some of us got real problems.
I don’t get the infertile couple….Who are they & why should I care? Not saying it in a mean way…it just doesn’t make sense….It’s not like there old friends or anything else🤷🏻♀️
They already covered infertility really well in the real show.. with Charlotte’s story (before she adopted and ended up having a baby) back when she was struggling and she was inspired to be brave by Elizabeth Taylor
This is a different issue than infertility. It is exploring the societal pressure that is put on women to have children that often obscures their own desires for when and if they want to procreate.
They equate buying an apartment (an expensive apartment in NYC nonetheless) to buying a top at the mall. If you don’t like it, return it! HUH?!! Who are we trying to relate to here…the wealthiest 1%? The show is so out of touch with its core audience it hurts. The only silver lining is that I found your channel through the show 🥰
I couldn't believe that! What idiot buys a house if they're not 100% sure? Out of guilt? Come on Carrie you'll be asking Charlotte for money again if this keeps up.
That apartment easily costs a million dollars. Even if she turns around and sells it immediately, she's out upwards of $50,000 in associated closing costs and commissions (twice).
@@aliceafletcher6449 Especially since that apartment doesn't even align with Carrie as a character. Yes, it was big and had a balcony, but could it have been any more soulless? It looked like she was buying a hospital to live in. For her to buy it just because she felt bad about dragging Seema around some more was ridiculous. It might have been better to see her reject places because something about them reminded her too much of big. Like one place could have a huge closet. One is above a Peloton store. One is too near a restaurant where Big took her on one of their dates... Then Seema tells her maybe she needs to find a place that reminds her of something she loved before she even met Big--and she ends up getting an apartment on Fashion Ave. or in the building where Samantha used to live in the Meatpacking District, or near a huge bookstore. Or, it could've been a place she first met one of the girls--to bring it back to her friends being her soulmates. (Sorry, my favorite pastime these days is rewriting this show in my head.)
These episodes just keep getting worse and more and more EGREGIOUS lol And did anyone else think that Seema and her “dad” look like they’re the same age? I also find it very annoying that this episode (and the last) ended in an interesting way: Carrie all dressed up, looking beautiful and like she’s going somewhere fun but we don’t get to watch what happens. Instead, we get that irritating beeping, matronly buns and too much detail about Miranda’s sex life. The scene with the vibrator and her son was absolutely disgusting. I feel like hearing your son’s voice would be a mega distraction from getting off, why would she even continue? F*cking gross.
I was just telling my bf this! Why are we not shown anything of substance, but shown everything else??!! Why don't we see Carrie grieve? Just her finally breaking out of it. Sweet moment of her listening to Big's records at the end and wearing his clothes w hers- but are his ashes still in the heir shipping box behind her shoes in the closet?! You cannot tell me that having to cut Chris Noth's scenes took away any of that.
Well Grace, because apparently menopause makes women super horny. Only a 25 yo could write that. But it’s gross that a mother has to hear her son’s orgasms and vice versa. That’s some weird shit to me.
Omg yes thank you!! Show us where she’s going at the END of these episodes!! If she’s not gonna truly mourn Big’s death, like she did with the “Mexicoma”, at least let us see her having a fabulous time.
The thing that upsets me most about AJLT is that it’s changed how I feel about rewatching the original series. I LOVED the original series and would watch and rewatch it all the time. It was a true joy to watch and I always felt how the series ending was brilliantly written and totally made sense. Now when I even think of rewatching the series, it’s like I know ultimately what “happens” to these characters. So like the reunion on Brooklyn bridge with Steve and Miranda in the first film, she’s now miserable and obsessed with Che? And Samantha who was the most loyal and least judgmental of all of them just f**ed off after all those years of friendship and didn’t even come back for bigs funeral? And Big dies, yet Carrie doesn’t even seem that affected by it? Not only is the reboot total dogsh*it but they’ve now ruined the memory of the original series, so much so I don’t know if I’ll ever watch it again. It literally hurts my heart, as it was probably my favourite programme ever.
Yeah I wouldn't mind the reboot if it didn't taint the original for me. I'm only watching the recaps now, but knowing how things turn out in AJLT, it does ruin rewatches for me. I loved SATC so it hurts my soul to see this train wreck of a reboot. I really do wish they would have left it at the original series or at this point, even the movies (which I was not a fan of).
Samantha was the least judgmental. She would have felt hurt at first but then eventually understand why Carrie didn’t need a publicist and gotten over it. She wouldn’t have become bitter and run away & completely disown her friends
I'm now so critical thinking Carrie is a narcissist and it ruined it completely cuz I could watch the first six seasons over and over and I loved every one of them. Now I can't even stand watching any of them
Maybe try to disregard this version of a possible outcome when watching the original. Pretend there is an alternate timeline that's the real timeline, and some messed up writers created this lame other timeline but it isn't the real one.
The writers of AJLT committed the ultimate act of betrayal to the fans by overhauling the characters of SATC beyond recognition. What the hell were they thinking?! I have no desire to return to the original show, thanks to the crap that they now insist on shoving down our throats. It is an insult to viewers that these so-called writers think that we would embrace this BS.
One of the problems with the show is that they expect us to be invested in the new characters and we know nothing about them at all. It would have been more believable if they already had established friendships. Instead Miranda, Charlotte, and Carrie all literally bump into Lisa, Nya, and Seema and just like that instant friends who really have nothing in common whatsoever. They force these new characters on us just for the sake of adding color and diversity to the show. As a woman of color who has friends of many complexions this personally offends me because adding these characters seems lackadaisical sort of like adding parsley on top of a steak because it makes the steak look better but really adds no flavor. These characters are beautiful but underdeveloped and bland.
Not to be catty, but she looks like Bunny (Trey's mom). Such a beautiful women, and the make-up people have her aging faster than David Bowie in "The Hunger."
So true about Anthony btw. He's a caricature of a gay man; hypersexual, no depth whatsoever, petty and snarky at all times. It doesn't offend me, at least one character has not drastically changed
At least so far this is the same Anthony as in the series an movies. There are gays just like him, now everyone is obsessed with representation it's so tyring.
@@alejandromolinac i live in san francisco so of course there's a lot of gay men like that in my orbit, too. They just take all the worst characteristics and say "ok this is our gay character!" but it's not like any one of them in AJLT is portrayed in a flattering way... like Che also seems to have nothing else but being non-binary
@@danielnickel1689 Here in Miami I have a ton of "Che Types" working in the shop.... Since they are all over 50... They just call themselves Lesbian Women....
Kay Dee Thank you. I tried to understand what is really wrong with this show and you nailed it. It has no plot. They wake up go thru the day and go to sleep
Yeah it’s like he’s the son of two hippie stoners that don’t believe in rules. Not the son of a Harvard Lawyer and businessman with enough religious values to want him baptized. 🙄
I can't get over how awful they all look. I mean, this show was groundbreaking for how stylish it was. It even made the costume designer semi-famous. You're right that pulling SJP's hair back in a tight bun is doing her face no favors whatsoever, but to me, the worst offender by far is Miranda's terrible fake wig. It's the worst.
Oh man. At least pluck the damn part! It looks like she has a mushroom on her head. And that style made her look old and frumpy 20 years ago. She’s just not attractive in any way.
So many complaints. Miranda could not stop self pleasure while talking to her son through the door?!? WTF. And it’s not okay that she is cheating just because she is unhappy. I can’t even take her character seriously. She is hideous. SJP with her hair pulled back tight looks 80. Stop styling her that way! Her make up is not doing her any favors either. (Lol… I wrote this before you pointed it ou. Good not to be the only one). Charlotte is not the bad guy for feeding Miranda the truth. She has always been the same about cheating. She should be for heavens sake. Is it weird that I like some of the new characters better than the originals? Not Che though. She is really unappealing. 🤢🤮 I miss Greys Anatomy Callie.
I can't put into words how awful I find Che to be. They're like a non-binary Mary Sue trope -- just PERFECT, no flaws, so charismatic, everyone loves them, etc. Puke.
At first I was pissed off that I have to see Nya getting extra time and a sex scene, then I realized that was better than a Miranda sex scene. In fact, just expand Nya’s role and catapult Miranda into the surface of the sun.
Also: I get that we no longer have Stanford, but I don’t recall Carrie and Anthony being so chummy. He was always Charlotte’s friend. So their sudden bonding (I guess over Stanny’s departure) is jarring and feels inauthentic. 🧐 Oh well. At least this episode gave Lily more to do than be part of the background. And where the hell is Steve?! 🤔🤷🏾♂️
Why are they so clueless? A quick brainstorm and that's what I expected to see in the reboot: Samantha dead but dearly missed with the girls quoting her; Carrie working as an editor of something like Vogue (Meryl Streep cameo as the former editor?), jealous of Big and some younger women, having an innocent crush; Charlotte widowed (hence the facial procedures as she is trying to date again), going back to work, some funny disaster dates; Miranda and Steve attending a swingers party due to a misunderstanding or sth like that, maybe Miranda trying to be a funny perfectionist e.g. a saintly vegan. If they wanted diversity, it would have been great to see that black doctor again.
Miranda & Steve as swingers would be a perfect subplot! And actually boundary-pushing while realistic of married couples who need more spark between them.
Yes! That's what I said. They're making Carrie look like a homeless bag lady. And Miranda in checked, plaid midis - that so goes against her style. She liked clean, tailored pieces in solid colors
@@ahoymate5059 Haha But Blossom and Six's hats were actually cute! lol.... Carrie used to look cute shabby chic.... now, they are just dressing them all shabby.....
Okay I'm a little confused about people talking about the hats and the fashion because Carrie has always worn crazy effing hats! Really bizarre things! She wore a bird on her head for the wedding. The fashion doesn't bother me. I like the fashion everything else bothers me lol.
How can anyone, SJP, MPK, the other writers, HBO, not recognize horrific writing and stop it in its tracks? Cynthia gets a pass b/c she's hopeless and such a horrible human in this series. The writers apparently believe that teaching us about wokeness is saving us from our paths of woeful ignorance so I guess we should thank them for enlightening us? : (
The weird thing to me is that they are so woke about everything except for flaunting their wealth and alcoholism. “Just sell the home you just bought” 🙄 “just stop drinking” 🙄 As though it is that simple for people.
MPK is a bad writer. When he took the show over in Season 3, it went down but there were still a bunch of good women writers. SJP and MPK have almost total control now and they both dont really get what works.
Because "wokeness" is misery. Woke progressive people are always miserable. Just look around and watch the news and listen to them spout how bad everything is and how evil some people are. This show is just a bi product of that. Every new show on tv has these elements in it There has not been a good tv show in 10 years. Every new one is preachy and has some woke message. And they even want to do redouxs of the old shows and they are changed to woke agendas. I think we are trying to look for elements of our girls and the ones who used to write the show are bots that are woke now.
This isn't a celebration of what it's like to be older, and how wonderful one's life can be at 55. It's a reminder that your best days are behind you and all that one has at that age, is misery.
Maybe it's just me, but I feel like the relationship between Rose/Rock and Lily is pretty much non-existent. I mean, they live together and share a room and they appear together in scenes, but I don't think they've said a single word to eachother since the show started. They do talk about eachother to Charlotte or Harry as if the other one was not there, even tho they are both in the room, like in this episode. Does that even make sense?
There are too many plots and characters to focus on any relationships or storylines in any detail. Whole sitcoms revolve around families of four, like Charlotte's family. There's way too much going on in this show- death of a major character, alcoholism, infidelity, going back to school, infertility, a child with gender dysphoria, two teenagers, a divorce, starting a business, starting a new job, etc. And that's just in 6 episodes so far.
@@Ntyler01mil This is a great point. Before anything aired, I remember thinking how much trouble they were going to have doing all of these new characters any justice. They're trying to accomplish way too much and failing. Plus, SATC is just not the right vehicle for 70% of it anyway.
The original characters are all separated it’s all the originals mixed in with new ones which I can’t understand , there’s no interaction with the original group
@@mademsoisellerhapsody I recall when Charlotte moved in there was at least 2 bedrooms and a den. Surely They could have turned the den into a room for Lily until she leaves for college.
I "love" how during that whole picnic conversation where Miranda admits to cheating on Steve, absolutely NO ONE asks, "What about Steve?" or talk about how he'll feel if he finds out, like nobody cares about his feelings. I hope he does find out and moves on with a Debbie 2.0, cute and bubbly, and deserving of Steve's heart.
Did you guys hear about the next reboot Michael Patrick King and SJP are planning for twenty years from now? It’s called “I Couldn’t Help But Wonder.” Carrie is going to spend literally all day laying in a coffin waiting to die, and Miranda is going to leave whoever she’s with at the time for a sex robot. Charlotte will be uncomfortable with the idea of a human/AI relationship but then she’ll learn to get over her robophobia.
I would love to hear SJP’s honest thoughts about this thing. Of course we won’t (at least not now), but I cannot believe she is happy with this. It was her legacy & she’s helping to burn it down.
Thank you for watching this so I don’t have to. I find it so disturbing that every sex scene has an ick factor to it. That was rarely part of the original series. What is wrong with these pervy writers?
I have been more entertained by your recaps than the show itself! I haven’t watched this episode yet and after your recap, I’m now in two minds about watching it! Thanks heaps! From Melbourne, Australia!🐨🇦🇺🦘

The Indian dress worn by Carrie for Seema’s Diwali (you pronounced it right!) party - is called a lehenga. We Indians don’t mind if people from other cultures wear our clothes; in fact we find it flattering, at least most of us do. Now à propos Carrie’s rose Mohawk, it looked a bit strange but I think it was just her character ‘individualizing’ the lehenga, giving it the Carrie stamp of flamboyant fashion - remember her bird headdress for that failed wedding with Big? So I thought it looked strange, but if you discount the Mohawk, the way her lehenga was styled was really pretty. I loved her long braid and the flowers woven in - that’s also typical in India - and looks very pretty for a festival or wedding look. She nailed her look pretty much… btw, thanks for this fun and honest review.
I loved that outfit. My friend had a Hindu wedding and she took me shopping for my outfit. I thought the sarees were too elaborate for me and ended so with a Shalwar. No one complained about my outfit, just complimented it.
You referred to Rock as Rose - how DARE you? :) And if that was just an apartment, how does she get a terrace without a balcony above her? How does she pay for such an amazing place while still keeping her old cashmere? Because of her great podcast or writer’s salary from weekly columns? (In the 80s, I wrote a weekly column in a real publication - paid peanuts). If Big was so wealthy, why sweat the $1 Million given to Tom Brady’s ex (Forgot her character name)? After hip surgery, how did Carrie see 48 apartments, box her stuff for storage (badly - do boxes have to be 6 feet apart in storage in NYC?), move to and then just scrap her unbelievable new place because she wasn’t smart enough to listen where the beep came from? They fixed it once, apparently, didn’t that give her a clue the source? Was hoping Charlotte with her new bass mouth would give Carrie pointers on subtle plastic surgery! And sure, the doctor would do a full computer rendering of before and after during the free consult when it wasn’t even Carrie’s appointment. Since when do these entitled gourmands do picnics? Why did the table cover look less like a tablecloth than either Miranda’s top or bottom? Maybe you can do a video on the best of Che - the hilarity, the truth, the wisdom! They’d be better off not showing clips from “their” comedy “concert “ because “they” is so painfully unfunny. Just let us imagine “them” as a laugh riot. All three characters are awful - entitled Carrie, sporting her Lilith Sternum bun, is the worst as she bemoans her spectacular apartment and casually flips it for a la-di-dah major loss. And Seema is a hell of a new friend casually aiding and abetting her cluelessness in buying what’s she doesn’t want. I’d go on but I just spilled my bed toast. Boy, is my mom going to be mad - it’s not my birthday!
Holy crap I didn’t even catch the Rose/Rock thing 🤣 your comment is one of my favorites ever I laughed from start to finish! Charlotte bass mouth 🤣 If I did a video best of Che I would just show the scenes without them haha. Screw it let’s all climb in bed and eat toast, we need it after watching this crap.
Calling this show a pile of shit is an insult to a pile of shit. They made this show so bad! I’m going to pretend this show never happened and if I need a sex and the city fix, I’ll just rewatch an old episode with Samantha.
This episode literally had no story, or anything happen at all, other than ‘oh look, Carrie has cashed in her bereavement dividend and has bought a stupid house she doesn’t even like, just because she felt guilty about how many she’d viewed.’ Let’s not forget Seema had already made a fat commission off the house she sold for Carrie. Seema has to be the most pointless story and character ever. It’s just another box tick. Im at the point where I’m hoping they’ll make every character, all at once have a peloton marathon to Lily playing piano, whilst dressed as the green hornet and they’ll all die at the same time! Then Samantha will step in the room, congratulate Lily on a job well done and they’ll ride off into the sunset, with the theme of Kung-fu playing in the background!
I don’t think Seema’ls character is pointless. I think Carrie needed a “non white” friend like the other two got. But I like that she’s still dating and the fact that her parents are pressuring her about marriage. She and Anthony are the only semblance to SATC
The storyline with Carrie owning 2 apartments is bizarre. The wealth being flaunted kind of worked in the original series but now it’s cringey. It doesn’t feel like an escape this time around because the characters are so unlikable. Yeah so much to say… it’s just bad. At this point, I’m only watching the show to hear the recap!
Yeah, it just occurred to me that it would have been more interesting to have Big's death put her in financial straights, because of some tax audit stuff or something. Bring her back down a peg or two. IDK. This show is so bad. I don't know what would save it. Oh wait, yes, SAMANTHA would have saved it.
She's a millionaire widow. She can own ten if she wants. The economics of this show has always been crazy. It's a fantasy. But the reboot is a nightmare. It is about rich white women. To me if you want to see more normal life, then watch another show.
I’m still offended it was Anthony’s appointment and Carrie made it all about her. When Charlotte said, “why don’t people stay the same?” Or “why do people change?” Something along those lines. I felt like that was a dig at the audience who are loyal SATC fans and a way to justify the characters “changing”/not staying the same in the new series. What they fail to realize is that there was a lot of character growth in the original series. The characters in this series are completely different than the original. We have SJP, Cynthia and Kristin - NOT Carrie, Miranda or Charlotte.
When you think these reboot episodes cannot get worse … and it does. Your recaps are the best! You make an otherwise dreadful series fun! I am DYING to know Kim’s opinion! She must be grateful she have avoided this mess!
I personally always thought Cynthia Nixon's acting was the best and most nuanced of the four (I know a lot of people may disagree lol) in the original series but she's so over the top cringy in AJLT. It's almost like she doesn't believe in the lines she is saying.
She was my absolute favorite character in the original series & movies, tied with Samantha. It’s such a shame to me how badly they’re ruining her character. All of a sudden she’s miserable with Steve, like what ?? I get that it’s marriage, it has its ebbs & flows, but I can’t picture her just…not loving Steve now. You don’t choose a man over Blair Underwood unless you KNOW that man is the one 😂
I can't get past Carrie's hair. Does no one notice how dry and damaged it is? Frizz in every scene. She ruined her hair blowing it out and wearing it straight too much of the time. Get her some Olaplex. Get her some Shea Moisture. Get her some damn olive oil. They pull her hair back in that tight-ass bun because the stylists don't know what else to do with that bag of pants.
What's not believable to me is that Anthony and Stanford ended up getting married.... Then again it wasn't remotely believable Stanford had that hot boyfriend at the end of the original series.... In reality both of them would had ended up with someone closer to them... Or getting a much younger man they would provide significant financial support to....
I agree - the second movie jumped the shark in a big way. It was still entertaining, but there was enough truly unbelievable nonsense and cringe to warn everyone involved that straying from the formula was going to be trouble.
@@magicskyway Those 2 "types" repel each other.... So the show was wonderful in showcasing "just cause gay is not enough to be into each other..... And they are both obviously well off, and if they can afford Lizan Minelli as the entertainment.... They can both prob afford a hot boyfriend/husband/boytoy......
Why is no one giving Miranda shit for CHEATING on her husband???? THAT is the real issue... why is it ok? it wasnt ok when Steve did it... why is it ok when its Miranda?? BS... real 'friends' would be trying to snap her back into reality or at the very least to address her marital issues with Steve before stepping out.
At this point the only reason I keep watching this crap is because it’s a train wreck that I love to discuss about. The only scene is this episode that i was fairly nodding was when Charlotte confronted Miranda about the fling, but why she didn’t mention Steve? At this point the creators should have written Miranda as a widow rather than Carrie. It seems the writers are trolling us. 🙃🤣
Instead of checking off diversity boxes, I wish they would’ve combined the Che & Professor characters into one, this way Miranda being drawn to this potential love interest, love affair feels earned, we would see them confide in each other over their lackluster or tense romantic relationships and motherhood/infertility. (The fertile Myrtle thing is hard because while I LOVE those two actors, you’re pulling away from our ‘mains’ and it feels like another show altogether.) Also means we don’t have to force Che, who is from Carries world into Mirandas scope. Oh and there’s this: Charlotte adopted a Chinese daughter. Instead of INVENTING storylines around race, diversity, identity, with whole new characters, why not mine this already existing character and how Charlotte may have fumbled over the years with her Chinese daughter, that she may have encouraged the teen to assimilate into white American culture instead of celebrating her own Chinese heritage? Like she should join a Chinese Pride group at school that gives her the strength to rebel against her white mother. I mean it’s ALL there just glossed over to accommodate…here we go…her WHITE daughter. Ugh. So within her own family, we have yet another piece of diversity window dressing. Also I’ma late 40s single woman native NYer currently looking for an apartment. It’s like a DAMN FULL TIME JOB! And the prices have SKY ROCKETED since The-who-shall-not-be-named-virus. IS CARRIE A FKN MIlLIONAIRE?! That Hudson River side apartment would go for AT LEAST 5 million dollars right now. Did she score a multi million dollar book deal we don’t know about? OR Is this BIGs money? If so I’d love to hear her say even if in a joke, that with BIGs death, she became a millionaire widow.
@@ckoz8595 thanks! How cool would it be if Charlottes daughter started off rebelling but ultimately decides she wants to meet her birth mother and instead of understanding her adoptive daughters need, Charlotte internalized this as rejection. And THIS would challenge the centering of her whiteness, that she was oblivious to her child’s real needs but ultimately realizes that allowing Lucy to embrace this part of her past, she is showing her daughter a mothers true love? 🤷🏽♀️
It’s Big’s money. He was definitely a millionaire by the 1st movie, which is sort of why they got married in the first place, so Carrie would have claim to his asserts. So she married a millionaire, which basically made her a millionaire.
They need to keep the rest of the scenes with Chris Noth in the episodes. He’s a major character in the show, and you can’t just cut someone out of shoe that he’s a major figure in.
Considering how badly they're mangling the characters that are still alive, I wouldn't put it past the writers to throw the supposedly dead ones out the window then pretend they didn't even exist.
Watching Charlotte struggle to emote is rough. I wish women would stop injecting shit into their faces chasing a youthful beauty that’s a big illusion. If we can’t set an example of embracing aging with grace and recognizing the beauty in changing faces how will we ever help our daughters fight these life limiting lies?
this should finish off Cynthia Nixon's career...she got lucky being caste on sex in the city but who she is as a marginally talented woke person is just shining through this new series. I listen to your reviews...after the first episode i had to make a command decision not to waste my time on this show.
Only if you were right, she is in Julian Fellowes' (Downton Abbey creator) new show, " The Gilded Age" which I was so excited to watch, but I found out that she is in it!! Aggg why? Her acting is so wooden and a personal note, she acts so holier than thou...and she wants to impose her values on everyone !!! I better stop 🤣🤣🤣🤣
She is as good an actor as she was in “Amadeus”. Thank god her part was small. After I saw that film the first time on VHS. (I was like 12) Then every time I watched it afterwards, on whatever media, I always try to skip through her part. She was very young but that acting….
I wonder how much Cynthia had a say in Miranda's storyline in this new series 🙄. The script is a mess and these characters so unlikeable. Seems like the only thing they were concerned about was ticking boxes.
So, is no one going to talk about how Miranda has been sporting a very obvious and horrible $19.99 wig in this series when we all know damn well the budget for this show is probably a few million per episode?
Oh honey, we done dragged that kankelon crap many times. And why is it the color that old women used to get their poodles dyed, sort of a pinkish blue. Color is awful.
I feel like I'm in a time warp. Not only was the episode where Charlotte was frantically looking for black props for her party straight out of a 70s Norman Lear sitcom, but Seema's (Carrie's Samantha of Color) worrying about not being married is lifted directly from the Mary Tyler Moore Show, only Mary and Rhoda were actually funny.
@@denisealden3487 Seema is pretty much the only character I feel like was written well for what the show is TRYING to do. It seems like she would’ve been a side character from the original show, she’s one of the only kudos I can give to this reboot.
@@magicskyway Yes! Seema consistently remarks about her family wanting her to be married! Everytime she makes these quips I say 'alright already!' And now that I see Seema as Rhoda I can't unsee it!!! Cringe!!!
My random thoughts as I watched the show. This is long but you did say you wanted to hear every thought 😄 Unlike "Carrie", I don't find the name Seema "very pretty." It's nice, it's okay, it's vanilla... it reminds me of that beer from the early '90s that tasted like a gin and tonic, Zima. Zima has more zip, so I'm changing the character's name. Zima's monotone voice makes me fall asleep. Berger should have had a recording of her reading the Congressional roll call, instead of a sleep machine with rainforests and crickets. Ever since new friends here said Carrie dresses like an Olsen twin, that's all I can see. The frumpy layering. The droopy hats. Then Carrie loaned her checkerboard bathrobe to Miranda, who wore it to their picnic lunch, where it matched their tablecloth. Carrie's gray and black striped hair color? Not working. Make it stop. And stop pulling her hair back severely, flat against her skull. She looks like Mrs Grundy from Archie comics. (Why does her hair keep changing from blonde to gray-and-black-striped to blonde? Hello - continuity?) Also make Miranda's reliving of shotgunning and mouth-smothering rape-appearing stuff with Lothario stop. It was revolting the first time and reliving it is causing equal upheaval. Carrie buys a huge glass apartment she doesn't love. Real estate is the most costly thing the majority of people buy, and you buy it for a variety of reasons including resale value, but one reason you buy is that you love it, when you walk in it feels like home. Of course Zima is happy to sell it again days later: hello, another hundred thousand dollars commission, goodbye a little chunk of Carrie's wealth. P.S. Carrie HAD Maintenance come to her new apartment to stop mysterious beeping, but didn't ASK WHAT IT WAS, and HOW TO FIX IT IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN. Lame. Also lame: when she called for Maintenance again, she was told she had to wait until morning. An apartment that expensive doesn't provide 24-hour maintenance service? Carrie's looks: Olsen twin. Boxy jackets. Weird headgear. Checkered bathrobe. Carrie called 1 800 MATTRESS. She's clearly also been calling 1 800 BAD HATS. The new actors need to e-nun-ci-ate. They're rushing and slurring words, as though they're embarrassed by the bad dialogue. Who is directing this? Oh. The professor ridicules someone she knows. Way to empower and support women and women's choices. She can disagree with choices, choose who to spend time with, but: putting a woman down for enjoying motherhood is just as close-minded and stereotype-y. She supports a women's and children's shelter, but not a woman with children? Cough cough cough. And the friend Myrtle was sweet and sensitive. It was her husband pushing the "you've gotta have kids." Not interested in seeing Nya "with" her husband, or Miranda "with" herself. Carrie to Charlotte: "You're going to have to handle my responsibilities of unpacking, because that's what I do: instead of taking the time I need to, to go through the grief process and handle my own life responsibilities, I'm going to dump it on you. I paid someone to do this in the past, but I don't need to now because all you're doing with your life is letting your children tell you your dolls are "culturally inappropriate" (instead of teaching them it's an appreciation of beautiful traditional clothing enjoyed by peoples around the world and is celebrating their culture. As Zima put it: "it's not cultural appropriation, it's cultural appreciation." That's what Charlotte should have taught her daughters). You can charmingly tell your friends about your life choices, "That's something we need to decide for ourselves, in our own time." No need to be rude or judgy (says the reviewer savaging this awful show). It's always good to be kind to your friends. The golden rule. (If I wrote a show this bad, I would want someone to tell me.) The sole good storyline was Nya's women and children's shelter. FINALLY someone privileged is doing something for society besides Javier House for substance-addicted $2,000-suit designers. T"his isn't working!" Carrie screamed. That's what I keep thinking, about this show. At this point, my disappointment is dispassionate; I have accepted this show is unredeemable and watching it is simply satisfying tepid curiosity, and reaffirming it's time to bury this corpse. Like Big, this series was dead on arrival. The scenes where Carrie is talking to herself, I am sure were filmed with Chris Noth talking to her because that's what she was imagining. They cut his shots out and that's why her random shouts are so disjointed. That bad rug on Miranda's head is awful. Almost as awful as the rest of the show put together. People who can't understand this criticism: a good wig has a natural-looking scalp that you can see where the hair parts. Miranda's wig looks like a skinny old animal crawled up and died on her head. I didn't laugh once. No, I take that back. I laughed twice: When Carrie had sunglasses on in bed. When the plastic surgeon said his assistant was triggered by needles. This show doesn't offer wit, escapism, warmth, the great things SATC the series was known for. And the person pushing stereotyped expectations on women is the show writer.
This show is bad. However, going in knowing that is a shit show, cushions the blow. Miranda, is doing the most. Her face just irritates me. Then when she opens her mouth, smh! I’m also not buying this friendship w/her and the professor, that doesn’t happen! Yes, women bond but not that quick. It is a train wreck and I can’t stop watching. New title “Post menopausal and the City” smh!
Also, even if Miranda and her professor might have gotten closer, it felt like it went from awkward vaguely racist word-salad to an actual friendship way too fast. Yes, Miranda saved her from being mugged, but that isn't necessarily grounds for a friendship if Miranda was weird in literally every single normal interaction.
@@KLKosi123 also, I don’t understand how Che thought it was appropriate to hit on and “have sex” with an assumed married hetro woman. I mean, that’s very presumptuous! Nobody acts like that! Talk abound no boundaries. It’s just too much. I loved the original series and felt all we needed after the series ended, was the first movie. For closure. This show is ruining all my good memories of the original series.
What kills me is the way that Miranda is screwing around behind Steve's back, but its just a finger so it's not the same as cheating. Remember when Steve cheated one time and Miranda had a shit fit. Lol
Your recaps are so much better than the show itself. Please don't stop. What a mess this episode was; playing like a series of a improvised scenes. Miranda's flashback with Che - "Can I touch you - was the only comic moment and that was unintentional! The filming style has no visual innovation or wit that made the original series so great! Oh sweet Lord! The clumsy subplot of Miranda's professor was so offensively handled here too.
It's become 'Woke in the City' and I'm Asleep in the City by the end of each episode. I'm actually becoming more interested in Nya and Seema because they've turned the OGs into clowns. If the show gets another season, they need to scale virtue-signalling WAY back. It's coming across like a comedy parody of Wokeism.
Seema is great, and I wouldn’t mind Nya if I wasn’t suspecting that she will become the odious Miranda’s new lover. Yes, Miranda will be taking a loovah. So much for Steve and the Guy trying to get Nya pregnant. Not a spoiler, but I know it’s going to happen.
Oh and the Diwali stuff was hard to watch. It’s like before this moment, Carrie who has had to have lived in NY for AT LEAST 25 years has NEVER met or befriended someone ethnic. Lawd. 🤦🏾♀️
why isn't carrie an influencer? she would be if she was a real person. we never see her take photos or post anything on instagram. its a waste of what could help the character move forward and adapt to the 2020s. its supposed to be a new era. why wasn't that just the setting? why do we need to spell out everything??? gahhhh
That’s because rather than honestly sitting down and discussing we’re these women would logically be at this stage in their lives, we have gotten tone death writers completely missing the mark and opportunity. They could have taken out Stanford in a more respectful way and have Carrie and Anthony mutually grieving and bonding. This would have organically fit the missing space of Samantha.
It is absolutely **shameful** that Miranda -- and let's face it, the entire show -- is giving no thought to Steve in all this. Carrie and Charlotte have called Miranda out for cheating, yes, but they've said only "you're married," never once saying Steve's actual name. As if Steve is some abstract being they've never even met, when they've known him for decades. Add this to Steve's ridiculous, premature aging on the show, and they're clearly trying to make Miranda as "blameless" as possible. And that is so unfair. Not after what this franchise put Steve through for a one-night stand. Steve's not even **in** this episode at all? There should at least be a moment or two where Miranda interacts with Steve, and then looks guilty/sad when he leaves the room. Unable to give up these new feelings but at least *acknowledging* that Steve will be devastated when he learns about it? Or are they going to have Steve be absurdly understanding, and tell Miranda, "Whatever you want is fine, darling! Go, prosper, flourish, I don't mind at all!" And toss rose petals at her feet as she leaves? The way this show is going, I wouldn't be surprised.
You're absolutely right! I believe the writing is strategic to have the Steve character not called by name, the storyline purposely making his part in this scenario not even relevant (which is impossible, of course) They write him as deaf only to portray him as annoying (damn that's mean) and the character has no air-time I think the writers are on a mission to eliminate all of the male actors 🤔
@@sallyguberman6310 Yes! What possible reason could there otherwise be for making Steve deaf? It's not shown as affecting his ability to run his bar, for example, which would be a more legitimate plotline. And maybe Steve's absence is related to availability issues for the actor, but even so, Miranda could still express **some** guilt/remorse, geez, **any** kind of emotion related to Steve?
@@heatherhoward8064 Miranda is acting brain dead about her actions, it's crazy! Hey, if the actor has availability issues maybe it's because he's backing away slowly from this trainwreck!! I was also thinking, when Miranda and Che were doing the dirty so LOUDLY that Carrie woke up and heard it, it was just like when Brady is loud with his gf in the next room! WTH with this show??
One thing is for sure. The show is suprising. Everytime you say " it cannot get worse" and then with the next episode that train wreck accelerates. I'm officialy terrified to turn 50 one day if my life should like the one depicted in jlt.
@@monicagambino318I agree😁 My aunt is getting married this year. She is 62, lively and optimistic. My mom is 68, now she travels, goes to the theatre and meets with friends. In jlt after 50 you cannot climb the stairs and everyone says you are old. Steve cannot hear and on jlt there is no chance of getting him a hearing device 🙄 So gloomy😒
To be fair, holding her neck and saying "what's this, who invited this" seems pretty normal. My friends and I will joke about this type of thing at times.
I wanted to say that Miranda always had an issue of being addicted to something while under pressure. Remember when she couldn’t stop eating chocolate cake. She wanted one from that bakery but it was like $75. Instead she started making the box kind at home. Then one day she stopped cold turkey. She poured dish soap over the cake after she dumped it in the trash.
Right? That huge slab on top weighs hundreds of pounds. Of course it’s plastic. The whole set was super fake and cheap. The River view looked like the scenes of Atlanta burning in Gone with the Wind.
So weird that they are glossing over the affair aspect of Miranda's things with Che. Like no one brings up how she flipped out when Steve had a transgression (and the way it was described his was a more meaningless one-time thing).
This. This is also where I'm stuck. Especially bc Carrie cared enough in the first movie to ask about Steve when Miranda told them about his affair and Charlotte said she be really liked him- why doesn't she care now, 20 yes later??
I think the movers from the second episode did it? I remember Seema saying she had a team who could change the entire apt so Carrie didn’t have to. But then labelling makes even less sense since they’re professionals.
It was like watching the original episodes of the show on network television where they cut out racy scenes or dialogue with no regard to continuity. The punchlines made no sense. Here, why not just cut out the scene of Carrie in the chair altogether once they realized it wouldn't make sense after cutting out Big's part? The editing is as bad as the writing and costuming.
Kim cattrall dodged that bullet like she was in the original matrix

If only she were part of this, though. I feel like she could save it just by walking in and being like, "Honey, you're 55, not 80." (Eye roll.) Same way she called Miranda out on not doing her downstairs maintenance in the first movie. But yeah, she definitely made the right choice.
We actually left off with her being 52 and fantastic. She was 50 in the first movie.

My thoughts:
• Carrie has a bun because she’s an Old Maid now!
• They’ve made Charlotte the ultimate Old Maid because she can’t relate to her kids becoming teenagers. That’s not Charlotte. Are they going to show her painting a plate in that shop from SATC next?
• They decided to check the ‘cultural appropriation’ box this time (they’re working through a list)
• They showed the side characters having dinner because they wanted a scene with no white people in it to prove they’re so inclusive now
• The facelift doctor - OMG, compare that to when Samantha saw a professional doctor who drew red lines on her. This ‘doctor’ should be struck off
• Who buys an even bigger apartment when their beloved spouse has just died? Usually those who hated their spouse imo. One minute she’s downsizing from the Big apartment to her old one, now she’s going BIG?! And then changing her mind? That beep is her brain malfunctioning
• We had a gratuitous sex and masturbation scene to prove this series is still raunchy *eyeroll*
• No offence to anyone with ADHD but the lack of context around ANYTHING suggests that the writers can’t concentrate on anything for more than a nanosecond
• I’m getting so fed up of everyone being so miserable all the time. Is the show being sponsored by some brand of antidepressants?
“The beep is her brain malfunctioning” - I nearly died at this 😂😂😂
HOLY BALLZ.....THAT IS EXACTLY WHO SHE REMINDS ME OF....THE DECK OF CARDS I HAD WHEN I WAS LITTLE....OLD MAID!!!!!!!
Not forget they HAD to include a scene with Miranda's legs falling asleep just after a few mins of having lunch at a park bench..because you know...she is growing old as fuck (this show is very ageist)
That white apartment was hideous and SOO not Carrie or SATC...
That beep will probably resurface as the alarm clock in the last episode when she wakes up from this nightmare.

It’s ridiculous.

Yes, I was reading this before some days.
I don't.
This is so true! I would have loved to hang out with these women 20 years ago. Now I couldn’t get away from them fast enough!
Well written 💯
The original show may not have been perfect but there's a reason it stuck with so many people and made such an impact.
Well said
I’m so proud of Kim Catrall for opting out of this mess. Smart woman!
LOL!!!!
100% agree. Worst. Episode. Ever.
Well said!
See, why can't the writers write like this☕❄️
Still trying to figure out what is offensive about having a collection of dolls...but then again, nothing makes sense in this cringe show full of random scenes and dull lines. Also I cringed so hard when Charlotte said Che is cool and charismatic....What?? :D Why do they try so hard to make us like this repulsive character...This show is so bad I can't believe it.
I don't find Che repulsive...I rather find the fakeness of Charlotte and the general "fashion" repulsive..
@@DebsFan101 yesss! Why are they dumbing her down???
I hate Che
Miranda’s alcoholism was as easily resolved as her panic attacks in the original series.
Just like that.
It’s was so patronizing how AJLT addressed alcoholism. Considering my own father died from that disease I found the way Miranda’s alcoholism was addressed really insulting.
@@lauralarrabee7870 I agree. Like flipping a switch.
I’m sorry about your father.
Sex and the City would make me lol! Now, NOTHING. Not even a chuckle.
@@EvokeSelf exactly
Exactly ..we can talk about it to death but it is all one issue ..JOYLESS..I thought these ladies would be running around NYC in politics , writing, parenting , this is just sad
I’ve been rewatching the original series and I think you’ve totally nailed what’s missing from this new show - that sense of fun. Even with all its forced wokeness and ageism, it would probably be a lot more bearable if it was any fun, and it’s just not.
I am 52 years old and I feel like I am 30. It is disgusting to see them portray women my age as pathetic old ladies 🤮
I wonder if the pitch for this show was “Four 75-year-old women say weird things to people of colour while wearing table cloths.”
🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’m literally laughing out loud on my bed😄

Charlotte is the only one who seems to care about Carrie and Miranda, she noticed Miranda's drinking problem, she confronted her about the affair with that Che person, she's the only one trying to help Carrie with Big's death, all while dealing with her children's problems. Meanwhile Carrie only cares about wearing hideous hats and Miranda appears to have severe brain damage. What have they done to this show.
That Che person 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Your comment is correct !! She is the only human on the show.

Carries always been self centered
I dk but thanks for that Overview. So no need to watch it. Better rewatching the X Files with the hot Scully/Mulder plus Mystery Theme.
Maybe you shouldn’t watch this garbage and keep your good memories.
@@KLKosi123 190 years old😂😂🤣 but, seriously- you’re so right.
No show or media seems to take the victim of a destroyed marriage feelings and fall out into consideration ever! Unless it happens to them, then cheating is evil.
Amen to that!
100% this!!
I cannot stand any entertainment that negates the pain and betrayal of a heterosexual person just because their partner is "discovering" themselves. It happens all the time. The betrayer is shown as the victim, the other, as flotsam and jetsam in the way.
@@wildonez3076 neither should be celebrated.
i find it ridiculous that Miranda travels from brooklyn to downtown manhattan every time carrie wants to have a bagel

She seems like she would be really good friends with Samantha
The reason we like her, cause i do too is because i think they based her bold character on Samantha and she reminds me of her bossiness and dynamic character.
@@0802alexander OMG you’re right, I can totally see that.
Yes! I get a Samantha flare from Seema!
I love Seema - great character --
This show is simply karma rewarding Kim Cattrall for being bullied and segregated. These women may have been paid, but their reputations are ruined.
Agree! Kim came out the winner here. Good for her! ❤️
Kim was 100% right to run screaming from the Samantha/Brady storyline. Even without the older woman angle, they still seem bound and determined to make the Brady arc creepy.
@@magicskyway ewww what ?? Was that going to be a storyline ? That sounds beyond awful 😩
@@magicskyway I'm not aware of this storyline? They were gonna make Samantha shag Brady?!
@@leewhite344 They were going to have Brady crush on Sam in the movie script that eventually became this show. Kim thought it was gross, apparently.
Agree! She never smiles.
I find it infuriating that Steve and Harry are like secondary characters...their lives don't seem to mean much
Then we have Carrie and her big stupid hat. 😂😂 Can't and won't even watch this shlock so count on your hilarious and spot on recaps. Don't be concerned about being the ahole, the only ahole here is this pointless, painful, desperate and aggressively aholish series.
The funny left with Samantha, sadly.

Best comment! Lol
If I put my finger in my bum will it cure my gambling addiction?
Well, first of all: Charlotte tortured us enough with her fertility problems back in the original SATC.
I just CAN NOT stand Carrie being soooo entitled, negative, shitty, pretentious…
I couldn’t stand to be around her for a minute. Everything is just to vomit! Rose, Lili, side characters, the three grandmas. Just awful!!! Kim saved herself and Samantha! 🙏🏻
Yeah, her claiming a spouse's death was the only real problem one could have was not on.
@piglet I agree with you. It’s a horrific thing women go through and it was nice seeing it onscreen
Theyre
They already covered infertility really well in the real show.. with Charlotte’s story (before she adopted and ended up having a baby) back when she was struggling and she was inspired to be brave by Elizabeth Taylor
"the real show" LMAONAISE!
Absolutely! Inspired to be brave by Elizabeth Taylor ! Absolute gold!
This is a different issue than infertility. It is exploring the societal pressure that is put on women to have children that often obscures their own desires for when and if they want to procreate.
This moment made me cry 🥺
Yeah I honestly don’t care if Mirandas professor has a baby or not. 🤷🏻♀️
@@Ntyler01mil no, that apartment is more like $10 million in NYC. The consumerism in this show is disgusting.
Even worse, then.
These episodes just keep getting worse and more and more EGREGIOUS lol
And did anyone else think that Seema and her “dad” look like they’re the same age?
I also find it very annoying that this episode (and the last) ended in an interesting way: Carrie all dressed up, looking beautiful and like she’s going somewhere fun but we don’t get to watch what happens. Instead, we get that irritating beeping, matronly buns and too much detail about Miranda’s sex life. The scene with the vibrator and her son was absolutely disgusting. I feel like hearing your son’s voice would be a mega distraction from getting off, why would she even continue? F*cking gross.
I actually tried to find the actor's name to see how close they were in age because I was shocked she and her dad were the same age
If she’s not gonna truly mourn Big’s death, like she did with the “Mexicoma”, at least let us see her having a fabulous time.
bcs her dad is the same person who worked as a waiter and kissed Samantha in one of the original episodes
Do they NOT know that pulling Sarah Jessica's hair back like that is making her look like the puppet Madame from Wayland Flowers and Madame fame?
she has the same blank, weirdly blinking expression too
Not to be catty, but she looks like Bunny (Trey's mom). Such a beautiful women, and the make-up people have her aging faster than David Bowie in "The Hunger."
I was wondering who she reminded me of and you hit it on the head!
OMFG A+! You know they'd be clowning this haha.

So true about Anthony btw. He's a caricature of a gay man; hypersexual, no depth whatsoever, petty and snarky at all times. It doesn't offend me, at least one character has not drastically changed
I am an old school gay who lives South Florida.... Come to the "Gayborhood" and they are all like that....

I can't put into words how awful I find Che to be. They're like a non-binary Mary Sue trope -- just PERFECT, no flaws, so charismatic, everyone loves them, etc. Puke.
pulled back hair helps with the wrinkles I guess. Sarah did not age well. She still has a cute figure, but she looks like a raisin.
It’s repulsive I just don’t get it
At first I was pissed off that I have to see Nya getting extra time and a sex scene, then I realized that was better than a Miranda sex scene. In fact, just expand Nya’s role and catapult Miranda into the surface of the sun.
@@KLKosi123 and of course Che has no honor when it comes to marriage.
Steve is on Chicago Fire. He will probably show up on the show for Miranda to say goodbye.
I said the same thing about Carrie and Anthony. They never spent time alone n the original series.
These would be way more fun storylines than the garbage ones they’re doing now.
Miranda & Steve as swingers would be a perfect subplot! And actually boundary-pushing while realistic of married couples who need more spark between them.

The first thing that jumped into my mind when I saw those hats: the TV show Blossom.

They’re scared of the woke mob.
@@Honeybees1005 all about the benjamins : )
Did the idiotic writers of this god awful new show never hear of the Golden Girls?! Now that’s have you celebrate life after 50!

Thank you for watching this so I don’t have to. I find it so disturbing that every sex scene has an ick factor to it. That was rarely part of the original series. What is wrong with these pervy writers?
They just have virtual sex would be my guess.
Why didn’t anyone tell Carrie the beeping was probably the smoke detector? That would be my first guess.
@@mademsoisellerhapsody Because Carrie is an idiot who probably didn’t have a smoke detector. To be fair, she never used to cook.
At least let the audience in on this. Why bring it up to leave it unresolved.
I let it rip this time! So much fun to talk about this! When they put out the preview for next episode I will recap it thanks!
Schlocky! It's perfect!
I have been more entertained by your recaps than the show itself! I haven’t watched this episode yet and after your recap, I’m now in two minds about watching it! Thanks heaps! From Melbourne, Australia!🐨🇦🇺🦘
i love your phrase "it's a load of pants!" 😂
Did you guys hear about the next reboot Michael Patrick King and SJP are planning for twenty years from now? It’s called “I Couldn’t Help But Wonder.” Carrie is going to spend literally all day laying in a coffin waiting to die, and Miranda is going to leave whoever she’s with at the time for a sex robot. Charlotte will be uncomfortable with the idea of a human/AI relationship but then she’ll learn to get over her robophobia.
@@elijeremiah1058 lol thats great
The Indian dress worn by Carrie for Seema’s Diwali (you pronounced it right!) party - is called a lehenga.
And if that was just an apartment, how does she get a terrace without a balcony above her?
The last part is the funniest thing I've read concerning this show!! Thanks for the chuckle hope your mom isn't too upset.
Holy crap I didn’t even catch the Rose/Rock thing 🤣 your comment is one of my favorites ever I laughed from start to finish! Charlotte bass mouth 🤣
If I did a video best of Che I would just show the scenes without them haha.
Screw it let’s all climb in bed and eat toast, we need it after watching this crap.
LOL ... The only thing funny tonight is your comment that you just spilled your bed toast!
Calling this show a pile of shit is an insult to a pile of shit. They made this show so bad! I’m going to pretend this show never happened and if I need a sex and the city fix, I’ll just rewatch an old episode with Samantha.
LMAO 💩
😂
😂😂😂
Why did your long comment have me rolling on the floor…..a peloton marathon…green hornet, omg it’s just too good. Thank you!
I don’t think Seema’ls character is pointless. I think Carrie needed a “non white” friend like the other two got. But I like that she’s still dating and the fact that her parents are pressuring her about marriage. She and Anthony are the only semblance to SATC
🤣🤣🤣
Omg!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Like the Woody Allen movie with Cate Blanchette?that would have been great.
She's a millionaire widow. She can own ten if she wants. The economics of this show has always been crazy. It's a fantasy. But the reboot is a nightmare. It is about rich white women. To me if you want to see more normal life, then watch another show.
I can’t even believe how this show keeps going further and further downhill. 😞😞😞😬
Oh, Carrie is SO GIFTED at making it all about her!!
@Manka It's so upsetting
@@shannon1587 Right?! I mean come onnnn
😂😂😂
What's not believable to me is that Anthony and Stanford ended up getting married.... Then again it wasn't remotely believable Stanford had that hot boyfriend at the end of the original series.... In reality both of them would had ended up with someone closer to them... Or getting a much younger man they would provide significant financial support to....
They got married in the second movie
“He took 15 years off her face… This show’s taking 15 years off my life.” 💀💀💀 Whoo, I feel this tremendously. 🤣🤣🤣
Me too. I watch the episodes, cringe and then think: "Oh I cannot wait from the next recap. It's sharper than Carrie's heels!"
I think you're right It must be Big"s money Such a despicable storyline
It would be upward of $10M
Great point about Charlotte’s daughter.
The CGI apartment on the Hudson is horrific.
Yes just look at the gorgeous Sharon Stone, Sigourney Weaver and the late great Betty White. No Botox and still fabulous after 50
Amen
Anthony talking into a phone that isn’t even on was hilarious. They couldn’t even give him a real phone call for that scene?
Cynthia Nixon directed it so expectations managed.
I fast forwarded all of her Che fantasies. Couldn’t stomach it.
@@msi8311 Yes! Gross.
Why oh why is Carrie sleeping in afghans and old sweaters like my Granny used to crochet?!!!🤪 And the Che flashbacks... I can't 🤢
To be fair, comedy concert is a thing Charlotte would say 😂

this should finish off Cynthia Nixon's career...she got lucky being caste on sex in the city but who she is as a marginally talented woke person is just shining through this new series.
Shockingly she won an Emmy.
@@FCignelli yes hard to believe
They spent the entire budget on terrible green screen apartment views. 😂
Fo real!!!! I think all of the budget went to the 3 leads' salaries
THANK YOU. That was straight out of an episode of Maude FFS.
Right?; Seema is 53! Sarita Choudhury is the most fabulous thing in this show, and she is criminally underutilized
Cringe!!!
I loved Rhoda. She was a Bronx girl like me. And I wanted her job as a window dresser.
My random thoughts as I watched the show. This is long but you did say you wanted to hear every thought 😄
Unlike "Carrie", I don't find the name Seema "very pretty." It's nice, it's okay, it's vanilla... it reminds me of that beer from the early '90s that tasted like a gin and tonic, Zima.
Hello - continuity?)
Also make Miranda's reliving of shotgunning and mouth-smothering rape-appearing stuff with Lothario stop.
Carrie's looks:
Olsen twin.
It was her husband pushing the "you've gotta have kids."
Not interested in seeing Nya "with" her husband, or Miranda "with" herself.
Carrie to Charlotte:
"You're going to have to handle my responsibilities of unpacking, because that's what I do: instead of taking the time I need to, to go through the grief process and handle my own life responsibilities, I'm going to dump it on you.
(If I wrote a show this bad, I would want someone to tell me.)
The sole good storyline was Nya's women and children's shelter.
I laughed twice:
When Carrie had sunglasses on in bed.
When the plastic surgeon said his assistant was triggered by needles.
This show doesn't offer wit, escapism, warmth, the great things SATC the series was known for. And the person pushing stereotyped expectations on women is the show writer.
Yes, yes, yes and yes. Bravo!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Harry and Steve haven't even been shown in this episode... :( and the fact that miranda is a cheater? acceptable? just like that... ugh...
She denies being an alcoholic, she denies having an affair, the actress even denies how bad the show is. It can’t be helped.
@USE ME AS A DISLIKE BUTTON that's terrible? How can they tell a story about a cheating wife without including the husband
@USE ME AS A DISLIKE BUTTON whaaaaaaaaat??????????
@USE ME AS A DISLIKE BUTTON they killing him off too?🙄
This show is bad.
New title: load of Pants in the Shitty.
Miranda's home is a house of horrors!
Toss rose petals 😂😂😂
But I swear if they make Steve absurdly understanding, I'm gonna lose it
You're absolutely right!
Those scenes at the downtown apartment…..looks very Vanilla Sky-esc to me. Maybe it’s all a dream to Carrie…but a nightmare for us.
Wow! This show isn’t just bad, it’s offensive! I can’t watch anymore. How stupid and out of touch are these writers?
One thing is for sure. The show is suprising. Everytime you say " it cannot get worse" and then with the next episode that train wreck accelerates. I'm officialy terrified to turn 50 one day if my life should like the one depicted in jlt.
🤣🤣🤣🤣I will turn 50 in march and boy! These ladies look and behave older than my own mother (76)!
@@monicagambino318I agree😁 My aunt is getting married this year. She is 62, lively and optimistic. My mom is 68, now she travels, goes to the theatre and meets with friends. I'm glad you're watching this crap so I don't have to
I wanted to say that Miranda always had an issue of being addicted to something while under pressure. Remember when she couldn’t stop eating chocolate cake. She wanted one from that bakery but it was like $75. Instead she started making the box kind at home. Then one day she stopped cold turkey. She poured dish soap over the cake after she dumped it in the trash.
I thought it was funny when she slams the dishwasher that the entire island visibly moves. You'd think they'd do a little better building the sets.
Was just about to type that!
Maybe the final breakup for Miranda and Steve will occur on the Brooklyn Bridge. I would expect something that moronic from the writers.
Right? That huge slab on top weighs hundreds of pounds. Of course it’s plastic. The whole set was super fake and cheap. The River view looked like the scenes of Atlanta burning in Gone with the Wind.
I much preferred Carrie back when she had to charge tomatoes.
Carrie is now crazy hat lady, lol
I remember an episode of SATC when Carrie was freaking out about turning 35.
Of course she didn’t label her boxes of her stuff in the storage room!
right? And there were labels taped to every box, but no filled them out?
I think the movers from the second episode did it? I remember Seema saying she had a team who could change the entire apt so Carrie didn’t have to. But then labelling makes even less sense since they’re professionals.
Ikr?!!! I was screaming!!! Like wtf? Who would be cutting open tons of boxes to “see” what in it? How stupid!
That 10 second scene of Carrie saying “this isn’t healthy” seems like one where something was definitely CUT out 🤨
She was just summing up the show
This whole show is a bunch of disjointed crap...
Either that or they're saying that relaxing at home and reading a magazine is inherently unhealthy.
