The frustrating thing for me as a consumer is that all the good "necessary" components are all additional purchases. Eg the 6lpm pump to use the unit at capacity , extra. A longer hose delivery hose, extra. Quick attach fittings, extra. Just make a kit with all the good stuff in it, including a T so that we can use as a kitchen hot water without hassle. Quick connect fittings. And put it all in a durable box that fits everything in. People will pay for easy, so make it easy, not a basic kit that needs add on after add on to make it more functional.
I guess that at the end of the day Smarttek are a business just trying to make money, and value add items are a good way to do this. On the flipside to your position some consumers won't want all the extras, having them as optional extras allows users to built up the unit as they want or need. ~ Ben
Just bought a new unit it not igniting there is no display and leaking from the rear! Support number only available Monday to Friday has anyone else had this trouble setting up from brand new
Hi there, you talk about mains pressure but what about flowi would like to use with a shurflow pump delivering 11 l per minute. Would this unit still work on that flow rate. Thanks
I'm not sure what sort of water pressure a 11lpm pump would deliver sorry, Maureen, but the Smarttek unit is designed to work with water pressures from 25 to 750 KPa. You may need to consult the details of the specific pump you are referring to. ~ Ben
Can you just connect to a tap water supply, without using the pump , also the water temp was going up and down and not staying hot , I think pilot light kept going out cheers 😀
Yep, you can connect a hose directly to the input, Kenneth. Mains water is usually around 750 kPa I believe, and the unit can handle water form 25 - 1500 kPa. As for the temperature, it goes up and down a little during use but only by a few degrees. The pilot light will cut out if required for safety reasons but if you set it up and use the unit correctly then you should get a relatively even temp. ~ Ben
@@SnowysOutdoors also if we connect it to a water supply directly, do we need to control the water flow? Will the unit be able to take a full open tap water supply?
@@Sandy-sc9vy you can just use a regular garden hose connection to attach mains water to the unit, the fitting is the same as what is found on most household taps, so your hose at home should fit. You'll only need to be concerned about water pressure if you are using water that is delivered in a different manner to the mains system i.e. a pump from a tank or water reservoir. If you are just using regular mains water, then you can connect directly from the tap. ~ Ben
Sure can, Michael, Smartek sell a 6 lpm pump separately (www.snowys.com.au/6-lpm-pump-pack), or they currently have kits available with either 4.3 lpm or 6 lpm pumps. ~ Ben
G'day A B, the input for the pump is 12V DC. The Black Smart Hot Water System pump is supplied with a cable that will connect using alligator clips, so if you wanted to connect it using a cig plug then you'll need to grab a Multi Cable Pack, which includes a cigarette plug, Anderson, alligator plugs and a 2.5m cable with switch - www.snowys.com.au/multi-cable-pack I hope this helps! Cheers, Sonia
@@Sandy-sc9vy Hi Sandy, I'm not with Snowy's or Smarttec, When you say power point I assume you mean a house power point - that being 240 volt, the pump is 12volt so the answer is no. However a suitable 240/12v battery charger would do the job. If your at a house with adequate water supply & pressure, there is no need for the pump, just connect to the tap. Hope this is of use.
Hmm... looks really cheap but is expensive. The Joolca looks like a much better made unit for practically the same price. Any comparisons between the two?
We had the Joolca units at Snowys many years ago and at that time I would say that both Joolca and Smarttek were pretty comparable. I am not familiar with the newer Joolca units so I can't make a confident statement on whether one is better than the other sorry. As far as I know the Joolca units are great but unfortunately through powers we have no control over we can't stock them anymore. ~ Ben
Hello there from New Zealand, The test gas bottle you had on this...you had a connector on the top, just wondering do you sell these at all? as i cant find any in NZ :(
The gas bottle in the video didn't have a connector sorry @BURKESDALE, its just the inline gas regulator thats on the hot water systems hose. If your appliance requires a regulator it will generally be provided with the hose. If an appliance has a hose without a regulator, its because it needs unregulated supply. Hope that helps. ~ Lauren

can this unit be mounted on a rack on its back (or slight up angle)..noting clear area needed for heat outlet
It cant sorry @Gregory C Maund, it has an inbuilt safety tilt switch that cuts gas off when the unit isn't upright.
