    Hey mate a little tip for keeping an eye on water usage while camping with a shower is to get a gardena inline water flow meter from bunnings or wherever and put it above the on/off switch. That way you can keep an eye on how much your using in real time. We have one on our joolca setup with the camper trailer and helps a lot knowing how much water you can use each day without having to go fill up again.

    Great video ! I have a different brand hot water heater and use it when doing week long camping trips, it's awesome to have a hot shower, I bought a 100ltr collapsible water tank for the shower unit for longer showers, it takes up bugger all room when packed down, just takes a few trips to the creek with buckets to fill it though, but well worth it

      Great idea with the collapsable tank - might have to look into that!

    Killer video mate , well done . Just a quick question , will it operate without the filter on the end ? Don’t think that would fit down my filler tank hole on caravan . Essentially I’d have to cut it off to remove all fittings and just have the hose ?
    Thanks mate

    G'day Bianca & Daniel, Great bit of gear to have guys congrats. 10 liter of water is plenty for 2 showers, just try it out of a bucket so you can see right away how much you are using

      Good suggestion mate! We used this system over the Christmas break and agree 10L can go a long way - although more the better I suppose. 🙂

    That’s a lot of boxes and pipes. I just have a small $30 12v hand shower. Boil up a pot full of water, pour it into a bucket full of water and the temp is right and off you go. Or if it is a hot day, just leave the jerry can in the sun.

    I’m seeing influencers giving rave reviews for this product, but having hard time finding long term reviews.
    I found a couple comments from owners who say customer support is great but pumps, switches and heaters fail with regular usage.
    Can any long term owners chime in?

    Hi. Love the channel and I'm currently looking at this shower system. Just wondering you can show more about the gas hose you made up with the quick connect and also the connection to your 2kg gas bottle. Looking to do the same. Thanks troy.

    • @explorebound
      @explorebound  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Troy, the HOTTAP system comes with the quick connect gas hose that is designed to connect to standard 9kg bottles - I just unscrewed the 9kg bottle attachment and screwed on one that suited my smaller bottle with gas rated tape (sourced from bunnings). 🙂

    Can you connect the water coming in directly in a shower or does it has to be in a tank?

      you can connect straight to mains water of a house but just make sure there is not too much pressure from the mains possibly adjust the flow at the tap head

    Are there any temperature fluctuations?

    • @explorebound
      @explorebound  Год назад +1

      No that we've noticed so far, the water temp remains constant 🙂

  • @mothergoose3064
    @mothergoose3064 Год назад +2

    I had one of these and they are good except that with gas systems like this, you waste a lot of water getting the temp right. It is also a lot of fuss to set it up. I now have a 10L electric Dueotto with a tempa valve which auto mixes with cold to the exact preset temp. Water is instantly at the right temp and zero wastage. So much simpler - just flick the switch and turn the tap on. I'd never go back to gas as my set up is now 100% electric, no need to carry gas.

    • @explorebound
      @explorebound  Год назад

      Hey mate, curious what the power usage is like on those storage type systems if you wanted to heat up your 10L for a shower on the second night in the same location instead of while you drive? I always thought they would use heaps? Temp wise we've used this system a couple of times at the beach and it only took us a second or two to get the water temp spot on for us. 🙂

    • @mothergoose3064
      @mothergoose3064 Год назад

      @@explorebound it draws 25 amps. The time to heat depends on ambient temperature. On a 25 degree day it might take 15 to 20 minutes. The most it has taken is 45 minutes. I have induction cooking and two fridges, similar set up to yours. I have 300ah of lithium, Redarc BMS30, 160W solar fixed plus 200w folding blanket.

    • @explorebound
      @explorebound  Год назад +1

      Far out that's an impressive power setup you've got! I think for smaller batteries like mine it would be tougher to justify the power usage to heat water vs gas, but certainly makes sense for a monster setup like yours. 👍

    • @krump743
      @krump743 Год назад +4

      There is no wastage if u draw ur water from a bucket. Recirc the water back into the bucket while u dial in the desired temp.
