So far is correct! we are planning on a few fabricated pieces in the future but for now we are enjoying the simple build! Thanks for the kudos, staying organized is the only option when you only have a 2 car garage :)
That is awesome! Thank you so much for taking the time Mark. We should be able to finish the rear suspension in the next 2 weeks before the holiday then brakes after that! Thanks for staying tuned 🤝🏽
He is a great instructor, she learns quickly. Going to be a nice car. I am building a 32 that belonged to my wifes grandfather. It was sitting on the farm for decades, her dad gave it to me just before we got married last year. This was helpful. Thank you
Hey, great to see the progrees on this project!! I've run into you two at Long Beach acuople of times, when you were tallking about maybe doing a bucket, then decided on a 32, now it's coming ing together! At this rate you'll be driving it next time i see ya!
Hey Craig, I remember you and the conversations 👌🏽 thanks for the support and looking forward to get back on it this summer once she finishes her masters 🤘🏽
Thanks! I have those sleeves from my 32 build still, so no need to have so many extras in the slight chance I will need them. One of the ways I stay clean and organize is to trash, give or sell the items I am sure I wont use :) if not in 10 years its going to add up to a pile of crap I don't need :)
Thanks for the support! This is a old chassis I found /bought. From what I can tell it’s very close to a SoCal frame but do not know for sure. If you need help, feel free to reach out via the CALIROD.com website 👌🏽
Hey Jim, I love these comments, its the core reason for doing these videos and glad they are providing value. The chassis was put together/welded locally using their rails and cross members I sell on my CALIROD.com website. Part of the reason you do not see many people advertising full chassis is because there are so many variations that can be used depending on suspension type. So really they are all "made to order" ... if you need help I am available via email or DM on instagram :)
My channel is basically a father son channel. My girlfriend is involved by helping us find things to do for our videos. She can be seen in some of our videos but she doesn't want to interact with the camera. To the keen eyed viewer it looks like we are ignoring her lol. This is gonna be a great build
I have heard that plenty of times before :) We have been throwing the idea around of going manual, Celyna already knows how to drive so we are good on that part! Thanks for following along.
@@calirod thanks,i looked on the Calirod website, there's not much there for parts?a few crossmembers.i'm trying now to order a new frame, waiting on some answers from Brookville and another supplier but i'll be needing everyhing for axle, suspension and on and on.
@@GregMelanson Thanks for the response... if youd like you can email me at bnunez@calirod.com then I can share my cell phone number with you and help with what ever I can and better explain over the phone. Hope to get your email soon. Thanks!
negative, it looks that way mainly because the crazy angle but I realized we had the hairpins on upside down do it did not have the appropriate caster. If you decide to continue watching the series you will see it in the next video! Thanks for taking the time to comment and appreciate you sharing the concern!
It seems that way now… until brake lines need to get made, full stainless steel exhaust needs to get TIG welded, cutting the rear frame rails to mount the tank inside, making a transmission hump etc etc … that’s what makes the difference 👍🏽
That's all I meant, I'm not putting you down for a certain car , it's what makes you happy ☺️ , I'm glad you chose that style of rod , I'm happy for you , I'll watch your build, do girl !, 😁
Nice great choices on the set-up she chose what a great foundation looks like fun
Thanks, so far its been much easier than the first build :) it also makes it nice when you are not dealing with old bolts, rust, grease etc :)
Pretty good. Wow, such a clean and organised work shop. Like putting a kit together, so far 😊.

I use 8 to 10 degrees of positive caster. Usually 10. Positive caster promotes straight line stability. The car will self center and go straight.
Agreed, my 32 is running 8 degrees and works great
Enjoying this build, looking forward too seeing the finished product, following from Melbourne Australia

Great choice 32 roadster !!

Very cool, will follow the rest of the build. Pls keep us updated.
Question, is it also a Brookville chassis? and was the chassis ordered this way?

Looks like a tci. But not sure.
Wish I had gone winters. Maybe change a change in the future. What engine are you planning to run? Enjoyed your own build and this one so far.
At the moment we are entertaining a Hemi with a SBC as a plan b 🤘🏽 thanks for the kind words Tim!
Love this this is so helpful and educational foe me - a rookie looking to start my first build. Can you tell me where you got the chassis?

3 speed or 4 speed? Hot rods have three pedals. T5/T56 please! Lots of nice parts. Looking forward to the build.

What frame is she using and can it be had with different rear suspension set ups ?
It’s an old SoCal frame …and the rear suspension is dependent on the rear cross member … so this one specifically needs to me used with a leaf spring
👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Thanks!
What is the width of the front axle and rear end?
What dimension did you need … king ping center or where the wheel mounts surface (end of drum )
@@calirod Front axle is listed as 47 or 48. the rear end is shown as a 55 or 56 or 57 on the Socal listing.
Those are all in line… your decision should really be depending on your wheel offset and the type of fender fitment you want
Is it a Borgesson Vega box or what type is it?
Correct, borgesson 👍🏽
graet looking frame and suspension.is that that front something you sell?it looks like an axle i saw at Roadster Supply as well?thanks.Greg
Thanks… it is the same axle as roadster supply…we use the same supplier 👌🏽 happy to help with parts if needed

Where did you get the frame
It’s a SoCal x frame I found, then used the front and rear cross members I sell on CALIROD.com and the frame rails and welding was done locally.
'oops' - never ever toss away any parts! You never know when you might use it for something else.
In this case we tossed them because I still have the ones from my roadster :) but agreed! usually, its a great idea to not assume you wont need it!
Here's a great flathead rebuild video with 'tricks' - just incase you've not seen this one. ruclips.net/video/7jcowzyrlDk/видео.html @@calirod
5 on 4.5 is Ford car bolt pattern. 5 on 5.5 is Truck or early Ford. 5 on 4.75 is Chevy.
Yup, thinking about using 5x5.5 so it’s the same an my 32
I think it looks like the insert is needed in the lower end. So pick it out of the trash again.

Youre gonna need more caster.
Yup, in the following videos you’ll see we actually flip the hair pins to get it closer then we will dial it in in the final build stage
They're not actually "building" a car, they are bolting a pre made kit together.
It seems that way now… until brake lines need to get made, full stainless steel exhaust needs to get TIG welded, cutting the rear frame rails to mount the tank inside, making a transmission hump etc etc … that’s what makes the difference 👍🏽
Thats bungs and sleeves, gotta love auto correct
did you see that in the closed captions? I have to see if I can edit that... RUclips does that automatically I think :)
Hmmmmmmmmmm m mostly premade pieces. No fabrication so far!
Yup, this will mainly be a catalog build with some fab work to put the tank inside and tuck in the rails 👍🏽
Why .....
Well... there is lots a responses to a simple question Frank :) but ultimately... because we want too!
@@calirod Everything cool gets ruined . Make me some bacon and eggs
just saw this but hope you had a great 2 weeks since you made the comment.
Catalog car , easy put together, at least you don't have to look for parts😊
correct, should be a pretty simple build with some fabricated bits as we get closer to installing the tank behind the seat and updated the rear rails.
