I personally prefer the classic. I respect ram for continuing to offer a decent truck at a semi decent price even if it doesn't have a super gucci interior with crazy electronics and crazy technology. Not everybody wants or needs a crazy nice interior, people just want a solid truck.
I know I sound old, but I personally am annoyed by all the extra accessories and safety features that are crammed into vehicles now. Not only do they drive the price up by thousands just to cater to someone and their damn cell phone needs, but it distracts from the driving experience. I enjoy driving, these things just take away from that.
After driving a Ram Classic for work, I knew immediately that was the truck I wanted. It’s not fancy in terms of the interior, but those big seats feel better than the fancy leather ones and it’s been incredibly reliable. I bought it two years ago and mainly lives in the garage since I have a company truck. 1875 miles.
How can you say incredibly reliable after 1876 miles hahaha I do single trips longer than that, my classic has 100,000 km on it, I’ve had it in for the following: 1. Complete rear diff replaced 2. Front diff replaced 3. Wheel bearing assembly drivers side replaced 4. Axles replaced 5. Heated steering wheel replaced Oh and the best part I am at 99,950 km, engine is toast, still had 50 km left on warranty dealer won’t honour warranty because I don’t have all my oil receipts and I NEVER missed one. To sum up, Fawk dodge, the classic is a POS, worst dodge I’ve ever had and I don’t beat my trucks. Good luck with your “super reliable truck”
Got a 2019 Ram Express Classic brand new with 3 miles on it for $30,500 out the door (included taxes tag and title). Purchased in Aug. 2020. Sticker price was over $40K. Pays to wait boyz! This thing has more bells and whistles than I need.
$30,000 / $40,000 ? You must live in the states cause in Canada you would have trouble finding a used Ram for that price. In comparison up here its $45,000 for your base model with no options really; if you get options the price comes out to $57,000 including all taxes also got a $14,700 discount with a $2,000 down payment ($16,000) or I wouldve definitely paid over $60,000 after taxes for my Ram.
I purchased a Ram classic because it was just a better bang for the buck. Its a great looking truck and a good truck! It does everything I need it to do for $13,000 less than the new 5th generation Rams.
Just bought a brand new 2019 classic big horn crew cab with all the whistles and bells.. center console, bucket seats ,8 inch u connect.. heated/vented seats, ect..ect... drives great... love the hemi.. MRSP 50K... picked it up for 38k.. P.S.. delay in gas pedal is from electronic throttle body... not the transmission... p.s... turn off the MDS you will get better throttle response
I looked at both back in 2019 and went with the Classic big horn crew cab. It's a great work truck and has plenty of room in the back for my 3 kids. I'm definitely a fan of the older body style but the new one is growing on me. Maybe the next one will be the new body but for now, I'm happy with the Classic
I have a 2009 4th gen RAM 1500 quad cab in Austin Tan Pearl paint with 216,000 miles on it. I also have a 2022 5th gen RAM 1500 quad cab with 9,000 miles on it. It's the same one as the newer model RAM you reviewed with the same interior and rims but in charcoal gray paint. I use the 09 as my work truck and the 22 as my personal truck. I love my trucks a lot. Great review.
I just got a classic 1500 5.7 4x4 3.92 gears and the warlock off road package, for my plans as a work truck and an off roader the steal frame was the only way to go. Love the review
I have the 2019 classic leveled crewcab , 3.55 axle and ratio and K02 AT tires with a bigger media screen, I really love how the suspension works over her new brothers. I chose the V6 and I am very happy . TRUCKS are the new minivans ;)
I like the classic crosshaired grill a lot better. Everything else is superior on the newer models yet I'd still get a classic because the price difference is substantial enough for me to just buy it without costing me an arm and a leg.
The new one drives 100X better, isolates noise and shocks like a luxury car. That said I like the classic styling and used 2020, 2021 classics are already nearing sub-30K prices.
I'm not sure you can compare an apple to an orange?? I would feel a better comparison would be a base for a base, big horn for a big horn, etc. There's about $3000 between a classic vs new style
I bought the 22 Ram Classic crew cab Warlock with the 5.7. I see both of those trucks have the 6.4 box. In 2023 the 6.4 box is hard to find. Im really happy with my choice.
I currently have one of each body style in my driveway. A 2012 quad cab Express with a 5.7, six speed automatic with a column shift. 200,000 miles on it. I am preparing to sell it shortly. I also just bought a 2022 Bighorn quad cab also with a 5.7. Both are very good trucks but like you said, the 5th gen is better. Only 800 miles on it but I look forward to many more. BTW, with the exception of a tear on the driver's seat, the interior of the 4th gen is perfect.
I'm getting the very very basic Tradesman model reg cab (not crew) 6.4 box, then adding the V8 Hemi engine for a paltry $1500 plus 3.92 gearing for much better acceleration, basic standard wheels, no chrome package or any other packages....just a real fun "sleeper" truck. Total price under 33k.
Not bad but I feel like for such a base model it should be high 20's right? Like it's an older body style and it's only a regular cab. Eh but what do I know? Haha
@@AlphaShark Mine came to $31,000. You can go to Dodge Ram website and have fun configuring & building your own. I love the look, reliability and price of the Ram 1500 Classic, but in my vast metro area all I see are Tradesman trims. @@AlphaShark Actually, no, for 2021, the 1500 Classics only come in Tradesman, Express and Warlock. With that said, most Ram dealerships near me only nave the lower trimmed Tradesman. And prices on the Classics are going up in price with all other vehicles.
