dietary modification doesn't always mean eating to lose weight. Extremes of weight , that is both low BMI and high BMI can definitely lead to hormonal imbalance. There are so many thin PCO girls.

What’s worked for me, as a woman with PCOS, is 3 days of slow-weighted strength training a week (every other day), along with a high protein, low-gluten, low-dairy, low-starch, no artificial or added sugar diet! Also, limiting ultra-processed foods and watching the ingredients on your food labels (artificial or added sugars, dyes, seed oils, certain emulsifiers like carrageenan, etc.-they can go by a lot of different names, so make sure you know what they are to avoid them!) I’ve lost 75 pounds in seven months thanks to this method! :)

As an overweight PCOS patient I want to say that this video was ON POINT. Low carbs is the one and only way to control this issue. As for girls who are underweight, check with your doctor on your exact problems. Sometimes underweight women have a high androgen/male hormone level and that is also one of the causes of PCOS. So it's not like PCOS always means lose weight. It also does not mean that just because you are underweight you can eat whatever you want. Please invest in eating healthy fats and maybe 2 portions of fruit instead of one like it is suggested. This will lead to a healthy weight gain without compromising on PCOS.
Also please do not underestimate the power of strength training. Ladies! Lift the damn weight. So many Indian women just dain to do weight training. Gain some structure to your body and develop some muscle strength. It will help you long term.

AD828 I mean it's not. Everyone is different and experiences different symptoms. He basically suggested to eat like you lift which you can get from anyone on RUclips. He also suggested fruit after working out which is a no go because you don't need extra carbs and sugar post workout. Fruit and vegetables are carbs so actually you have to be selective on those too. Low carb isn't the answer at all. Low GI might be. If you go into ketosis for example, then your brain only functions at 75% capacity as the only thing your brain uses as energy is carbohydrates. Interesting isn't it.

As a woman with PCOS, what’s helped me to lose 75 pounds in seven months is three days of slow-weighted strength training (30-40 minute sessions) a week and going for 15-30-minute walks on rest days, and going on a low-gluten, low-dairy, low-starch, low-added sugars, and high-protein diet. Also, vastly limiting ultra-processed foods, and avoiding foods with bad ingredients (most partially hydrogenated seed oils, added sugars and sugar substitutes, dyes, some emulsifiers like carrageenan, certain sorbate, etc.-these can go by many different names, so learn what they are and know what you’re eating). Don’t starve your body, just feed it the right things! Nothing worked for me in the past, but this has, and it’s a long-term solution! I recommend following these guidelines and find what works for you!

I’m diabetic and have been asking my doctor for help on losing weight after my second baby. For some reason it seems impossible even after eating healthy and exercising. I would in fact gain. She only cared that my A1C was good so her numbers were good. For almost 5 years she’s been upping my insulin intake and I just can’t anymore. The good news is her nurse practitioner has helped me along the way and we’re starting a new plan with less insulin and more diet and exercise. She said not call it a diet and to call it a lifestyle and I couldn’t agree more. So excited to implement your “diet”!

    • @poojatolani5962

      Pallavi Yadav Hey!
Well not much of a diet. Choosing healthier options when you eat. Not eating heavy meals at night. Reducing restaurant meals. if you have to eat out, choose healthier. Increase water intake, warm if possible. Keep healthy snacks at hand. So I would eat chips and guacamole or roasted makhana with black salt. Seeds like makhana( lotus seeds) help you keep full longer. Eat dry fruits for snacks. Try to exercise a few times a week for sure. Cheat every now and then. If you starve yourself, you will fall apart at some of the other time. Keeping an eye on your weight daily, helps you make better diet choices. When you eat less, you actually get used to eating less. Also, when going for grocery shopping, go with a full stomach. When you are really hungry during a grocery trip, you will tend to pick all the junk food out there. I don't believe in too many restrictions. Losing weight or just becoming healthier, calls for a lifestyle change! So make changes that you can actually stick to. According to my experience, this is what helped me. Hope it helps you!

Mine was chronic so it took 2 and half yrs. Ayurvedic treatment with diet and yoga. It also has a lot to do with stress and lot mental and emotional work on self, nt just physical. Pcos is also related to rejecting ur natural female self. Emotional traumas stored in the body need to be extracted out frm the root.

For me, I was told after the diagnosis not to panic because it wasn’t life threatening and won’t affect my menstrual cycle and child birth. I decided to do further research and that was when I found out that it was incurable and can be managed through weight loss and change of bad life style. I have spent over two months on weight loss journey and I have lost 10 pounds (73-63 kg) since. Since I lost all that weight, I don’t feel those frequent pains anymore. I hope to lose more weight.

    No no no..
there is a correction and that too in the very beginning of the video.
Insulin doesn't help in the production of energy through sugar it's the job of oxygen and it happens with the process called aerobic oxidation.
Insulin plays a role in the transportation of glucose into the cells, to use them to produce energy or to store them for the future.
So, thats why in Diabetes people have a high amount of sugar in their blood because they can't be transferred into the cells.
    - Medical student

Maybe lower the carb and lower the stress. And don't graze, have instead 3 meals with at least 3 hours in between. Drink only water between meals

Even if you do soo much and keep stressing or even overthink it is going to backfire.. meditate for some time before sleeping and when you wake up in the morning.. try affirmations to train your mind it might help you.

Hi ranveer, u know what this kind of videos make me cry now. I have tried everything to lose weight but as soon as I lose some , I put them all again. I use to have pcod and therefore my prolactin level was always abnormally high. I am 29 and 5:3 and I weight 62kg. I just wanna lose 10pounds and so but it doesn't just happen.I feel so frustrated at times.I use to look so more beautiful when I was slimmer. I don't eat white rice and alternate it with dalia. I eat rice only twice a week. I am just a frustrated person girl right now due to this extra 10/15 pounds

Astamika Sinha you must have your thyroid checked. Check your free t3 levels. If they are low you would need t3 pills.

Powerful info! Thank you so much for sharing this! When working with PCOS patients, I'll recommend intermittent fasting as part of their protocol.

This helped so much with regards in helping me understand more about pcos and how I should deal with it. I've been struggling with figuring out what I should and shouldn't eat since everyone is very generalised when saying what you can or can't eat so I would go around in circles trying to figure out what I am supposed to be eating but this really cleared things up. Thanks a lot

    Hi Ranveer,
You're videos have been really helpful. Can you make a video on replacing artificial sweeteners with sugar? Are artificial sweeteners healthy? They seem to be a good option since they have almost no calories.

I was diagnosed with PCOS like a week ago. I started with my diet but nobody explained why I am avoiding particular things and when this happens we tend to think “ki inte se kya hoga” and then end up eating more because NOBODY EXPLAINED IT WHY and all of this caused so much stress for me. I have understood now and will work towards it.
