That is what OCI for. Not reflecting the title of the post though. About cancelled Indian passports, just take a copy of them and forget. When you renew or update your OCI in the future they can ask last Indian passport number. But not mandatory.
There are Ton of new ppl who have got the oci recently and looking for what needed before their travel . It may not be helpful for the seasoned travellers with oci as they know what to expect . Thanks for your comment though.

Sir, you should not hold your Indian passport.Since you got canadien citizenship immediately you should hand over the indian passport near by Indian Embassy , Canada & get the acknowledgement. They may put à fine for having Indian passport. Passport is the property of India. Pl take care. Don't do this.I am also south indian, I had an experience.
Sir with out handing over the passport you won’t be able to apply for oci . You should hand over them they will give you surrender certificate along with your old Indian passport (punched).
Looks like india dont allow dual citizenship. Sad you are a borned india citizenship and upon being a canadian citizenship you need a visa to enter your birth country.I am proud to be a guyanese. I hold a canadian and a guyana passports.
The procedure you went throughout your journey is very common and this are the norms every oci holders are going through. Nothing new and also waste of time watching uninformative video

U may have to carry old foreign passport if that passport number is mentioned on your OCI.

Nothing . Just carry it when you are travelling to India .

No need . Once u have OCI one can stay number of days . In Uk if immigration asks for reason, u should have valid reasons.
Ùncle might need Tax Clearance certificate from Indian tax authorities if going to UK permanently

Do they do fingerprints every time you go to India or only once
I believe it is every time but I am not 100 % sure
Every time at the airport fingerprint will be checked

OCI card is as good as being a citizen of India except you cannot vote in Indian elections.
