Chris Impellitteri is a remarkable musician with a remarkable story. The Stand in Line album to me was also (and still is) an iconic album, Secret Lover blew my mind but I loved all the songs. Very cool interview, I actually think that the best interviews are conducted by non-guitarists, as too often real musicians end up being interviewed by gear nerds and 'guitar nerds' and the like, which aren't at all the same thing. Nowadays there's too much focus on gear consumerism and BS and not enough on music itself, which is always the real goal. Thank you!
and playing like that at 21, wow. I remember being in Italy, I was 17 and was a total beginner and another kid invited me to his place to listen to the Stand in Line album (I didn't have money to buy records, but he had) and remember the picture with Chris on the back of the album while listening to the riffs and solos on Secret Lover, and I thought, wow, this guy is a guitar genius, I love this. 🤘
