Indeed... My wife yelled at me during a video chat last week when she noticed it: YOU CLAIM THAT NOTHING ANNOYS YOU ABOUT YOUR 16-MONTH-OLD CL500, BUT YOU ARE CONSTANTLY CHANGING THINGS ON IT, DAMN YOU... (me). Makes me extremely happy I'm not alone on that 🤣
I own a CL500, I use a waterproof roll bag that straps directly to the saddle itself. You don't need a luggage rack. Works great as a back rest for long rides as well 😂😂
There are rear baggage racks available for these that are very practical and don't lookout of place. The horn button is an issue on many bikes, I have a Suzuki Gladius with the same problem but you soon get used to it.
I hadn't known much of this bike until I saw someone taking her out onto some back roads/trails. Nothing too tough but even w/ some dirt tires this bike was not cutting thru the sand/soft materials- it looked heavy & unstable under those circumstances. I like the look for the fuel tank, that was what all the bikes looked like when I was a kid. That was long ago but I digress, I think the lack of storage could've been overcome but that exhaust makes only one side even usable so I'm gonna thank you for showing why I'd better not go this route. Thanks & be safe ; GB ALL
Bits where the engine sticks out, the ignition and the steering lock are all the same as the Rebel which shares the same engine and main body. That cover for the clutch is always getting in the way but at least I'm not burning my feet
Cheers for watching. I should try the rebel, would be interesting to compare the riding positions with the CL. I agree in regards with the clutch guards I especially love them when it’s something I don’t have to source, pay for and fit myself.
Turns out not difficult at all. Just a symptom of having a brand new phone. I appreciate you bringing this simple issue to my attention. Should have thought of it myself 😂
one massive thing that annoys me with my CL500 is the foot peg location even now like 7 months on from owning and riding it everyday, im still basking my shin into the bloody pegs
CB500X rear wheels,so Rally Raid will do a rear wire spoked wheel, something Talon/Haan will fit the front...Yamaha MT/XSR/Tracer 700 sumpguard also fits,by you have to make your own brackets!
I put a 30 litre bag on the seat and strap it. No worries whatsoever. Could be an issue with a very large overhanging bag I guess, but in what situation would you need say 60+ l with that bike. There are also good after market rear racks if you really need it.
Thank you, all helpful. Funny Honda put that sticker on the back… they’re probably just covering themselves. You can do what you like in reality and seems to work fine 👍
I drive an nc750x and the layout of the indicators and the horn are worse. The horn is just where your thumb naturally goes. I think they have solved it better now on the cl.
I guess it could be said the the horn placement on the CL is actually a feature not a bug. And its more accessible, making the bike safer on busy roads
Is it possible to fit a 15'' laptop in the side bag? What's with the optical illusion? Leaning to the right on the side stand; exhaust on the wrong side?
I think a laptop that size will fit no problem. Also I forget to flip the footage over when using footage from the forward facing camera . Silly mistake
In sunny weather the display is utterly useless. Fine when the sun is behind you but otherwise invisible. Fine at night. Would love to have an analogue display on this bike - love it otherwise. Might just mention the small tank (12Litres) but phenomenal mileage (85mpg UK) so range not bad. Would have liked a centre stand but paddock stand makes maintainance much easier
Spoked wheels would add weight, not only the wheels but the center stand that would be necessary and that could affect ground clearance too. The cast wheels are light and strong and they have proven durable in abusive conditions.
@Diurama1212 excellent points. I didn’t think about all the bits that I thought were missing but infact keep it light. Also just learned that spokes wheels are heavier than cast. Always thought it was the opposite
Cut that horn button down a bit with a dremel but the keying arrangement is really dumb. Both locks are exposed to mud and grit splashes while main one could even get knocked. The wheels are great, leave them alone.
So the horn,.. you have to reach for it, so I'm gonna say it's your own muscle memory from other bikes, it's not really an issue if you own one full time
If anyone has modded this with a lower exhaust so it could have twin panniers I'd be interested. It has same switchgear as CB500F, and I've hit the horn a few times unintentionally
In my opinion, this video is total nonsense. I have now ridden almost 5000 km with my CL-500, and not one point you have listed is significant or annoying. 👎
One of the most annoying things I’ve noticed is the exhaust pipe keeps switching sides! 0:27
lol does happen with these bikes

@luizcastelo-branco9894 you can live something and be annoyed by parts of it at the same time
YEAH Man, I did a double take & then thought it was running twin pipes for a few seconds? Sure enough!
Best list of problems I've ever heard. Basically nothing really wrong with this bike :)
Nothing 🤣

Nice one makes sense

What about the throttling problem RevZilla are talking in their scl500 review (at 12th minute mark)?
I didn’t notice a single problem with the throttle
Is it hard to reverse the image when using the front camera?
Definitely need to look into it
Turns out not difficult at all. Just a symptom of having a brand new phone. I appreciate you bringing this simple issue to my attention. Should have thought of it myself 😂
Nice! Its annoying seeing your exhaust move from the right to the left side.
To be honest, it coloured my whole view of your video. Probably says more about me than you!
@steveslater2260 definitely a silly error on my part. Onwards and upwards! 😊
one massive thing that annoys me with my CL500 is the foot peg location even now like 7 months on from owning and riding it everyday, im still basking my shin into the bloody pegs

what about display? Is it readable in bright weater?
Yes I had no problems
No Its not . The display is useless and needs addressing.
yes you can read it but definitely not easy to read

Spoked wheels are available, from Kspeed Thailand, they are tubeless too
Didn’t know that. Thank you

@@FabMotorbikes I think they could have placed the horn below the blinkers.
I love the side luggage! I did myself with a Blauer waterproof bag and I find it very cool and suitable😎
Excellent! That must looks great 😊 nice work

@@FabMotorbikes Thanks.
Get a good backpack guys. The saddle bag has been sold out forever here in the states. Get a good backpack and then it's fine.
Your camera's wrong when front facing. Never had any of the problems you mention.
Yep camera problem was a silly mistake by me

Hello,
You have to strech your chain.
Excellent video 🎉
thank you!
Luggage = It's not the only option if you simply add a rack .
True. Rack and top box works. Just odd I guess they “recommend” not putting a bag over the seat. Not a massive deal though
I wonder what is the experience of passenger riding with you with that big exhaust right there
Great point. Right next to their hand
So the horn,.. you have to reach for it, so I'm gonna say it's your own muscle memory from other bikes, it's not really an issue if you own one full time
Excellent point. Will still take some getting used to
Hah! I also keep hitting the horn when going for the indicators. I'm a new rider, so its nice to know it isn't just me
Seems particularly prevalent on this bike. And I’ve looked at other Honda’s… the set up isn’t like this
If anyone has modded this with a lower exhaust so it could have twin panniers I'd be interested. It has same switchgear as CB500F, and I've hit the horn a few times unintentionally
You are not alone hitting the horn when cancelling the indicators !
I knew it wasn’t just me! 😂
The steeting lock being on the other side is just weird and would likely annoy me
It is odd
I have this bike never hit the horn when using my indicators myself😊
Thank you ☺️ help file to hear from some one who owns it longer term. 👍
Put a shorty dump pipe on it and hand a bag each side.
Would work 👍
K-speed offer spoked tubeless rims for this bike
Nice one 👍
I eventually had to unplug the horn on my Honda
Really?
@ Yes, I’ve got five bikes and the Honda is the only one with reversed buttons.
In my opinion, this video is total nonsense. I have now ridden almost 5000 km with my CL-500, and not one point you have listed is significant or annoying. 👎
As I mention after every point …
What about the display? Is it readable in bright weater?
@captionit8736 worked fine for me in the conditions I had when testing
Same here 12000 k,s great bike
Nobody steal them😅
Lol
