This is an excellent 1st bike that you will want to keep, I'm 5'10" and the seat height is perfect, I love the stock quick shifter cluth it's so smooth, I also 250lbs and the suspension is great. I ride the streets of Greater Houston and have a blast riding with the aggressive big city drivers. My next bike may be the rebel 1100, or HD Nightster. I really love how affordable the SCL500 has been. Really fun bike to own
I ride the rebel 500 through Houston downtown last weekend and the bike was fun. I liked the looks of the scl500 so much better. I really fell for the orange when I saw it in person.
The engine hanging out in the breeze like that is not a good idea for an adv bike. The Africa Twin has a perimeter frame and the Kawasaki KLR 650 frame is a down cradle frame and they offer much better protection because of that. Those bikes can do belly flops on the rocks with just the addition of a cheap skid plate. As for the Honda by the time you add all of the needed brackets and stuff for the skid plate you've added another 20~30 pounds to the weight and you still just have barely adequate protection.
This is the first review that resonated 100% with my riding intent when I bought this bike. Light adventure riding. Keeping up with bigger ADVs is a blast, gives everyone a laugh and adds a wow factor for its capabilities (when ABS fuse is taken off). I will probably consult you a lot for my future mods! 🎉
Good review. I'll watch all your CL videos. Thinking of buying one for road use. Good-looking bike. I like the orange best. The dash visibility has been improved on the 2025 model.
This Honda is similar to the Caballero 500 Rally, though a bit less offroad capable with the low pipe position. The SCL500 seems more like a roadbike with certain hints of a scrambler. I wouldn't really go offroad with it, imagine hitting a rock or a log with that pipe, maybe some gravel fun roads with proper tires.
Looking forward for more content on this bike 🏍 👍
It's a motorcycle and it's a Honda so it's going to be good enough for sure.
what the heck i loved your tech videos didnt know you also review bikes. looks like you read my mind on what im gonna buy next

what do you mean remove the fuse? Does that disable ABS? front and rear?
@adventureundone yes, remove the main ABS fuse when driving offroad. I plan to make an ABS switch with my old man who is an electrician
Good job on this review

Thank you. Honestly the dash visibility isn't that bad once the brightness is cranked up to max.
I like the orange. The problem I have is the exhaust under the bike like that.
Yeah... Let's hope a manufacturer like Arrow is going to address that.
Then it could be a contender to add to my stable 😊

The 500 engine would be lovely in the crf
Nice KLR mod there on the back of the seat!
Honda. Never a fail.
It's not an off-road bike. Gravel roads for sure. I like it alot!
Huge fun factor.
I'm just trying to make it a little more capable and enjoyable off road
Hi like to ask if the windshield is useful while you are touring?
I think the orange looks good. Do engine guards cause vibration at high speed?
@@brashachilles9725 no vibration
come on...... this exhaust is really a monster !!!!
Check out Unit Garage...they have the SCL/CL500 just right...best looking tailpipe, for sure...expensive though!
I had a 305 scrambler in 1969 but it kinda spooked me at 16 . I traded it for a 61 Chev.
Had a couple of those 305 scramblers in the late 60's. Great bikes
@adventureundone if you already had a clapped out Drz would you choose the scl500 or a crf300 for your second bike?
SCL for sure then
Do you still have your Africa twin?
@@guillaumepetin499 no
what handgards do you have.

IMO, you should have tried a cfmoto ibex 800
@@170bcuda been wanting to try a CFM but ehhhhhh
@@adventureundonehard pass on a china bike 😂
Nice bike but I’d prefer the NX500.
@@BlackdogADV yeah that’s a nice bike for sure, but just to similar to all the other adv bikes these days style wise
Change the sprockets, she will race for good...
Are those musical note tattoos behind your ear? LMAO😂
