I feel they’re just getting a temporary rinse at the sink on wet hair. It actually lasts a lot longer when done on dry hair as intended. Thanks for the tips!

Timing and level of color is so important with Shades. I’ve panicked and rinsed much to soon many times!

Omg! I cannot believe a glaze is the same as a toner! For years when I would go in for a highlight ( never on a schedule & like 2x a yr -yes I am one of those clients! ) but after my foils were out my hairdresser would ask if I wanted a "glaze" & I would say does that cost more? Thinking it was something like a specialized conditioner to just make my hair look healthier & shinier!! In my mind glaze equaling shine! No clue my hair was being toned - but I usually said yes - cant remember if she said it cost more or not at this point. I just knew I liked the highlight I would get from her.....

Also, my best friend is a hairdresser & she has been cutting & highlighting my hair on & off for years. Too many times I would wind up brassy & not be happy. However, there were times the highlight would be fine! I would get frustrated how she did my hair & That is why I would go to another hairdresser over the years, Now, I was a natural blonde as a child eventually succumbing to the dirty dishwater color many of us former child blondes wind up with. My hair is thick, wavy & fairly course - I have A LOT of hair & it has always been quite resistant to lift. So, I'm not sure why sometimes my friend would be successful & other times not - but she would never do a toner?? I would just have to live with whatever the results were. Anyway, I am 54 & have been having my hair highlighted since the age of 14 when my hair became darker - so I have some knowledge of the process of highlighting & since quarantine I have been educating myself on color - highlighting, toning, color wheel, chart, different brands etc. So I really appreciate all that you share. It has been so helpful! My friend got her beauticians license sometime in the early to mid nineties & I don't think she really ever educated herself any further on color, hence, the many disasters.....

Yes, the hairdressers that put the glaze on wet sopping hair will get the color they want but it will last for like a week.
