Man 4 camera’s! You are not messing around. Lol. The dynamic of this video is amazing. GREAT job. Love watchin ur vids no matter what ur talkin about or doin.
Yep - they are marketing them as different reels for sure. Just other options I'd pick first at that higher price point. This one has been a good reel though.
@@AaronHuntFishing I agree with you on that. Your fondness of the Daiwa Mountain Stream, Silver Creek AIR TW, Stream Custom, 8.5L has me intrigued. It fits the profile of the type of fishing I will be doing this year here in Japan. Trout in super small streams with very dense overgrowth. The ironic thing is that the reel is like half the price if I ordered it in the states. Bloody Amazon US will not ship it to FPO AP however.
@@justinkayce9811 I was surprised at how good the prices have been on Amazon US lately! I'll probably take that combo out tomorrow scouting for some wild suburban trout. I'm expecting a very low probability of success. :) But hopefully I catch a few chubs or something while I'm searching. February fishing is rough here in PA.
Nice video! Im overall pretty impressed with this reel. Ive used mine for the past couple of months and its quite impressive once you get everything figured out. The more i fish with it the greater my affection for it grows especially how light it is. Hope your fishing season has been good.
Thanks, yeah - been a good year. Weather's been crazy, so not as good as last year, but still fun. Looking forward to spending more time with this reel.
Absolutely. Daiwa Gekkabijin, Most of the Shimanos off the top of my head. I don't often talk about it because it's not top of mind for me here in Pennsylvania!
I totally agree that they got rid of the drag clicker and perhaps the clicking spool tensioner to save weight. Not sure how many g they would save...maybe 3? So they did that just to be the loghtest and have that as their selling point.
Yeah - i think there was probably a few grams there, a couple on the spool, and maybe even a few from that cut-out by the drive gear. The performance is pretty good so far though, so it's not just a gimmick to be light. They seem to have done it right.
@@AaronHuntFishing I personally would never buy a reel without a drag clicker...does the clicking noise add that much to my fishing experience? Probably not but it's more of a thing that would just bug me not having.
if I'm going to compare with aldebaran which is better? I already have the aldebaran and calcutta conquest bfs and not forgetting tsurinoya dark wolf one of the aliexpress reel. I'm wondering should I get it or not
kind of like asking is Hyundai better than Lexus? No. If you have the CQ and the alde, I think the Flight Feather is a step back. Cormorant may be on level with both those reels.. maybe. Alde is still one of the best all round BFS reels for me.
I'll definitely be fishing it a bit to get a good feel for it. it's striking, that's for sure. Remind me to bring it next time we hit the water. :P Appreciate your consistent support.
C'mon, tell the truth. You bought it 'cause it matches your speed boat. Just kidding, I think it looks cool, but I made a vow...no more new gear until I learn my Skagit-Casting fly rod setup. Oh, and thanks for not ratting out one of my favorite spots...yes it is a test lake, but love it anyway.
So far it's better than the Kestrel. not overbraked Agree those are better, but not always in everyone's budget. I do think a head to head with the alde is worth considering to try to define the differences.
I heard the aldenaran is good, top tier. Have you tried the Alphas Air? I heard the air is the best no matter what the price was. I have a few budget but wanted one top tier.
@@noobpyrotech9991 I have. IMO, the Alphas Air isn;t in the same league as the Aldebaran. At least 1 tier, maybe 2 apart. the Alphas Air was the first BFS reel I decided to sell.
@@AaronHuntFishing Thanks for your opinion on the Air. Other anglers have said the Air was the best of the best, but I like to take in as much information as I can. I will look at some more Aldebaran reviews as will. I already got an TSU Elf, and KK Zephyr as my trunk beater set ups. The funny this is I am such a cheap skate I might just end up getting a Diawa Salamundura and say that is my best BFS reel...🤣
@@noobpyrotech9991 Agree - everyone was so high on the ATW - it was my first BFS reel. If I were;t for the Dark Wolf Ultra I may have gone back to spinning and conventional. That's how unimpressed I was with the AATW. Most Daiwa's are really easy to dial in, so it has that going for it. But otherwise, it was lacking IMO.
It looks decent but I agree I prefer a drag clicker included. I would take the Aldebaran all day, I'd take my Curado BFS or any in it's family if I was offered either for free. We all appreciate your thoughts and opinions please keep up the good work, thanks.
This was going to be next on my list after the conquest, but the glitter in the paint scheme is turning me off. I may try the new round fishband or the latest lngle next. I've caught fish on that moondog dragonfly.
I'd need a link - every Hi-star Aurora I'm familiar with is 172g plus. Seems odd to name a new reel the same as an existing reel ... but some companies are strange. Plus, HiStar puleld some shady bait and switch tricks during the 11.11 sale - so not really a company I'm going to highlight even if they do have a 115g reel. Purelure did release a new reel that 119 grams - and it's on it's way.
Virtually ALL BFS reels have shallow spools. It's to permit casting of very light lures - it reduces the initial force needed to make the spool spin. That's why they do it. Probably safe to say you'd never buy ANY BFS reel. Appreciate the irony of your comment.

Thanks John! Appreciate your long-time support. Can't wait to meet in person and hit the water some day.
The new version (Cormorant) has the drag clicker and upgraded main gear. They increast the price substantially tho.

Awesome video, what line do you typically throw on your bfs setups?
I've been using Daiwa J-braid most of this year. Anything from 6# to 10# has been awesome. I usually throw 6# or 8#. amzn.to/3QHpbs3

i still go there often! It's close, and even a day of no catching beats not getting out! ;P And like I said - those colors do go together, for sure.
Another kastking kestral one a be reel.
Stick with the aldebaran 22 and daiwa silver creek for bfs they just work.

Lightest baitcasting reel in the world is from Histar. Aurora.. 115g. Just bought it

@@AaronHuntFishingthe pure lure silver feather. Just ordered mine. The Cormorant is next.
First of all the reels look plastic. Would it be a good purchase?
So far I'd say yes. It seems to be a good perormer with a lot of light-weight casting ability for it's price.
The boat behind you looks like to be the same color
pretty close! Like I said - they work together! Just kinda loud on this reel. But it's pretty good from a branding perspective.
Let's forget it due to its color and shape. Palm is uncomfortable
your choice. some folks have actually liked it because of the color.
I hate that size of the spool, why companies put shallow spool, really stupid, would never buy this reel
