I adore strawberry cake. As a mom of two littles, my birthday wish this year is for my husband to take the kids out so I can do my thing and bake this as my own birthday cake in peace. I’m honestly so excited! Love your recipes!

I can't believe this video popped up!! I didn't know you made videos!! I found this recipe online, from your website, and made your strawberry cake and icing for Easter!! Everyone loved it! I did add strawberry extract in the cake and icing, as my strawberries weren't that flavorful. It came out delicious! I even froze the leftover strawberry reduction for another cake for Mother's day. I just can't believe that you make videos and I didn't know until now. I don't watch TV, I listen to RUclips all the time, so I'm surprised to see this video come up with the exact cake I made! If anyone wants to try it, it's fabulous!! I decorated mine with edible Easter grass, peeps, chocolate eggs, etc

I began making strawberry frosting with freeze dried strawberries crushed into powder added into a basic buttercream. Adding vanilla and lemon flavor makes it just so good.
Yeah, I was surprised this recipe doesn't include any--in my experience, freeze dried strawberries are key to getting lots of real strawberry flavor and bright color! A strawberry reduction is 'okay', but I find the heating process compromises both flavor and color compared to freeze dried and the cost works out to about the same.
he *does* add food coloring to achieve this shade of pink actually - you can see it in the full video. he does provide a couple natural alternatives to make the color more vibrant (ie beet powder)

This looks absolutely amazing and delicious!! For me and what I’m used to eating and cooking this is a very different way of making a cake! I’m not used to using only buttercream on cakes with just 2 layers. I didn’t even know what buttercream was until a few years ago.😂 I’m from northern Europe so it’s not very common to make cakes this way, but I love trying out new stuff and recipes!! Although if I were to make this cake I would probably cut the cake so it makes 4 layers and add a bit of jam on 2 of them along with fresh strawberries. And then probably whipped cream or buttercream on the other layers. If not buttercream then cream cheese frosting?🙂🍓 I’m no expert at baking

If someone took their time to make this for my b-day I’d almost cry…I love homemade strawberry cake. I remember one time my mom made a strawberry cake from scratch for me and my twin’s b-day…it was the most delicious and biggest cake she ever made us. I tore that -ish up you hear me???? That meant SO MUCH to me.
I just realized that this short aired on my dad’s birthday 😂 If we didn’t all have Covid at the time (or we’re still recovering from it and self isolating to stop the spread) I might have made this. Strawberries are a big favorite of his!!! What I did make was still lovely I think. It was a lemon cake (had all those ingredients) with strawberry jam between the layers, blueberries and raspberries too, and cream cheese icing. I also decorated with blueberries too. Mom, whose birthday is the day before, loved it! As did dad when he could finally try it (he was still pretty sick then). Over all, not quite the birthday they wanted for their 60th but least there was good cake and each other’s company! And lots of movie and tv show binging! So, yeah, luckily the cake cheered them up. I think I’ll make this cake soon though. Maybe during our make-up Easter for this weekend (told no one to come over for Easter just in case of spread) I can make this cake? Would probably be welcomed.
As someone that’s made this multiple times, it’s probably the best tasting cake I’ve ever made and everyone loved it
