Winston has been John's closest ally in all three movies and he very much knows what John is capable of. This is why I'm convinced he was helping John escape in the third movie.
He said my allegiances from all off new York and John just happens to end up with another new York person the board king so I think he plated that on purpose
Which I believe is gonna be a key role in the next movie... Think about Lawrence Fishburne's character as well... Everyone is going to click up and go to war with the High Table... And think about when winston said we are New York!!!
It's a movie and the only way you can control EVERYONE in the park is paying the city to block off the park and then pay the extras to do their part. BUHAHAHAHAHA

She crossed the line. She violated the sanctity of the Continental...FOR MONEY. She literally spat in Winston's face, more than once, when she committed the sins of killing and attempted killing on Continental grounds. Such offenses must be punished for the reputation of the Continental and for Winston's reputation, as well.
She wasn’t really the High Table, she was a rep sent by them. I always thought she was like a messenger for them, not really part of them but working on their behalf.
I'm late and this is probably just a reach but I want Winston to be the man who taught John what he knows, hense their close relationship. If it was true it would explain such situations as him talking down on John and would also explain how Winston got to be so respected and have such a huge following of alliances to begin with. That's just what I wish would happen though lol
John wick doesn’t kill those who are innocent. Even if they call him every name in the book he’d chose to just walk way unless provoked with violence. If you look closely in all of the movies he never once manages to hit any innocent in HIS cross fire. Even In the first movie the Russia guy calls him a bitch and he just makes a snide remark and leaves. It’s not until they actually steal his car and kill his dog when he finally snaps.
4th and 5th one are both in production at the same time and I just can't wait, sadly we won't se them until 2022 but I already know they will be worth the wait
Watched 1 (bored out of my mind) ended up watching renting 1 and 2 and buying 3 (because it was only for sale) and didn’t get disappointed AT ALL since most almost every movie goes downhill after the second one now waiting for 4th
I normally don't like when movie franchises go on forever, but I'm okay with it in this case. Chad Stahelski has basically said that, if the franchise ends, it can only end tragically.
In the Continental Series, Winston did somewhat declare war against the High Table, took over the NYC Continental, created his own High Table bank, and killed an Adjudicator. He is so badass and competent that the High Table allowed Winston to stay in charge of the NYC Continental. The fact Winston got the High Table to stand down many times is amazing.
@@sulthanarya3281 It’s not perfect but the world building is interesting. A young Charlie appears who turns out to be one of the people who helped raise Winston.
I wonder what game Winston is playing at? If he wanted Wick dead he would have taken a headshot. He knew a Wick was geared-up with that suit..he knows the continental like the back of his hand. Did he really set his own temple ablaze by shooting poorly at the most dangerous man alive? Or did he take another calculated risk, betting that John can go further? I think Winston wants to get above the high table. Like Fishburnes character. Who wants to get shit done under the table without interference
I think he wanted wick to disappear and hunt like he once used to. If he wanted him dead it wouldn't have been much difficult to take a headshot at such a distance. Let's hope that he didn't want John dead and that Winston John and Charon survive the 4th movie.
@@TheBoxingCannabyte it was all planned, thats why after shooting Wick the words said to Winston were, Well Played Sir. And exactly thats why he didn't shoot him in the head, he knew it was a rough way down but, that Wick could survive it and the hunt against the high table will begin. And Winstons hands would be clean, he shot wick off the building he could easily say how would he know that Wick would survive that fall after those shots. Plus, considering Wick was on his own for pretty much that whole movie meaning no one was supposed to help him. He could then said that he didn't expect him to have that suit on, and easily say who gave it to him? so all in all his hands are clean or at least one would assume.
@@warforged79 I disagree. When Winston said this he was referring to John's home - the last refuge that contained the memories of him and his wife together. His place of remembrance to her. When Santino destroyed John's home, he was in effect 'incinerating the priest's temple', destroying the photographs of John's memories with his wife and anything else that belonged to her that John still possessed. That's why Winston knew that whatever happened, John was going to kill Santino.
Winston is honestly the scariest character in the series, especially after you've finished watching 3 and 4 back-to-back. He's highly manipulative and persuasive, to the point where he can make everyone do exactly what he wants every time, including his allies and enemies. He literally only shot a gun once in all his appearances and somehow is much more dangerous than any other character in the series. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he turns out to be the mastermind behind the High Table.
In the Continental Series, Winston did somewhat declare war against the High Table, took over the NYC Continental, created a bank, and killed an Adjudicator. He is so badass and competent that the High Table allowed Winston to stay in charge of the NYC Continental. The fact Winston got the High Table to stand down many times is amazing.
It's obvious Winston didn't kill him intentionally, he had the chance to hit him in the face yet he shot him in the body armor on purpose, even the ending "Mr. Wick is gone", "A true tragedy" sarcastically. He did what he had to so they don't kill him and kick him out of the Continental, yet he still managed to get Wick out by "trying" to kill him
There is a sly almost knowing glance, it's there for a split second before he pulls the trigger. It's a 'take the chance i'm giving you Jonathan, and kill these bastards for me.'
That and the fact that he shot John Wick in the chest. He knew John had kevlar in his clothing that would protect him. If he wanted to kill John he'd have shot him in the head.
@@Infinitywolf23 a million per kill, that's still kinda low bounty for the world's greatest assassin. His bounty is worth at least half a billion or even a billion dollars.
That’s still a lot of money. If that’s not enough, how many assassins do you think would be after John? From NY to Casablanca alone? Also, wasn’t Viggo’s $4 million bounty in JW 1 enough to get even Perkins to break the continental rules?
Yep! I went into the film thinking there was a 5th movie & in that moment I shouted "ARE YOU FUCKlNG KIDDING ME?" I got shouted at by "concerned parents" who brought their offspring's to see a brutally violent film, I expected Charon to make it to the end
@@ERS1713 I don't think it was sofia's marker, because John had that marker hidden in library. So it must be Santino's or a new marker, which John can use to take help from someone.
You know there's a connection not yet revealed in John and Winston's relationship. You can tell just in how the address each other. Winston is the only one who calls him " Johnathan " others call will maybe once call him that but then it's " John ". Mostly it's Mr Wick, Winston never deviates from calling him Johnathan, like family member who knew him as a child. When you were a kid you messed up your parents, family would use your formal name, bo short cuts, nick names. Winston out of respect but it goes deeper and tone familiar, close. Makes you think, wonder if wick wife was related to Winston?
@lindalcoomes in the comics a young teen Johnathan saves Charon in a podunk town. Charon gives thanks and invites him when older to see him. His employer would be greatful. So makes you think Winston has always kept an eye on Johnathan and steered his development thus by proxy a son.
Understand that John put Winston in the middle and in a bad situation when he killed on continental grounds. Winston shooting him (to injury not kill) is a kind of payback. But it also puts him back in charge as it shows loyalty to the high council while letting John get away.
There's a fan theory that Winston is behind everything from John Wick's return and his subsequent destruction of two entire crime syndicates to whatever chapter 4 holds, likely an all-out war between Wick (and those that side with him like the Bowery King) and the High Table. With the High Table out of the way, Winston becomes arguably the most influential person in New York, as well as probably the most powerful member of the whole organization.
Man I love Winston but I wouldn’t even care if this theory was right and in the end John finds out he’s been used and Winston ends up being the TRUE villain and the series ends with john killing Winston and finally being able to live in peace
@syd bohne but according to the conversation regarding the mark, Winston seemed upset about Santino's decision of bringing back John from his retirement. If Winston was the instigator that scene wouldn't make sense at all.
I understand why winston did what he did at the end of jhon wick 3. He needed to retain his authority and complete the excommunication, so that when Jonathan returned he could be protected again
@@deathchronicles6960 It is what happened, it's a fact. He did it knowing John would not die, he even had it set up that he would receive immediate care the second he hit the ground. Winston knew what he was doing, he NEEDS John.
Winston might just be the closest John has to a father. A father who is getting slowly annoyed by his son's antics and incessant tendency of always having a bounty in his head and always getting pursued by killers. He just keeps it business as usual and honest but not offensive in any way. And also the father who always has to rescue his son from death. He reminds me of Q. Only without a heart and only cares about his business.
its not obvious because of the disjointed nature of the video but i love how increasingly frustrated the adjudicator became despite trying to stay calm and collected, she played it off well
I dont think it was part of any such grand plan from the beginning but I feel winston was gathering allies and biding his time to take out the high table. All throughout 3 we saw the hightable wrongfully punishing people for the sake of their own power. We can kinda see this with the bowery king who feigned his loyalty and is probably going to use wick to get revenge. Winston has been john greatest ally and its pretty clear he did john a favor while also giving himself time to recover, I can honestly see this franchise ending with winston toppling the high table and placing himself as the enforcer of the undergrounds rules where organizations will be answerable to him. its honestly a brilliant strategy and in the end he'll have the boogyman on his side even now i think.
Most important scenes in all the franchise,is where Winston is "Working a Crossword Puzzle" & "Looking at the Chess Board " in John Wick. 3. 1.Figure out the puzzle and look for the codes in conversations and speech 2.Know thy enemy on a chess board and see what moves are being made and be many steps ahead of your enemy.
I've always had this notion about Winston...That before John left the underworld behind to be with his late wife, Winston was quietly nurturing his skills/talents/abilities and guiding his career from behind the scenes to teach him the complexities and nuisances of this world, to prepare him for day he would eventually succeed him taking over as Manager of the New York Continental. Plus, I have to believe that Winston himself in his youth was a fairly skilled and capable assassin in his own right, nowhere near John's level obviously.
"....I'd say the odds about even." Ha I love that scene. States enough in itself about how much of a beast Wick is. Makes me think Winston has known him a long time...."And WE are New York City" true that.
Sucks that Marcus died, imagine Winston pulling strings in his position of power. John doing what he does, with Marcus helping from behind the scenes off anyone’s radar. The trio would be unstoppable.
Literally in the series Winston was my favorite character. Wick is cool too but Mcshane's actings and the performance was outstanding. In JW3 when Charon and Wick fights back the high table, him chilling in the room playing Vivaldi's Winter was so fucking badass Very well made character.
when seen in the context of the last scene of chapter 4, you can see that winston treats john like a son than an ally. so it is possible that he is his son or at least viewed him as a son.
Winston made those movies as much as John!! He speaks so eloquently and I just love that voice....no one else could play that part! This and Deadwood are the best of him as an actor....he may not think so...but that voice and how you get so caught up in his character makes him so special....❤❤❤
The most brilliant in this movies are (of course just after the main role) the supporting actors. And Winston in interpretation of Ian McShane is the shining diament between.
I love the theory that Winston is Johns father in law. I know it’s it’s only fan theory but damn does it give their relationship that extra layer of depth
Na, that ballerina lady scene revealed john's real name, its something jardini. He was orphan and that lady raised and trained him. So not father. Father in law may be.

John: Same owner?
Charone: SEEM ONAH
Same (H)onorrr
Winston was a true gentleman and the best ally to John. Only one to truely see him for who he was deep down inside
Winston hanging up on The Adjudicator had to be the funniest moment of this franchise
its not obvious because of the disjointed nature of the video but i love how increasingly frustrated the adjudicator became despite trying to stay calm and collected, she played it off well
So much of what Winston does and says would feel right at home coming from Al Swearengen and I love it.
why i always feel like Winston was so perfect to be father for John wick 😂
There's a theory that Winston is John's wife's father
Yeah, about that...
Two bus loads of assassins wiped out by Wick and the Concierge. I don't think the High Table had a clue what they were up against.
Winston truly cares for John and didnt want him to come back
I think Winston is John's Father
@@proudlysouthafrican4368 More likely father in law, in part three there is a reference he is a Belarussian Gypsy orphan.
4:58, this scene had me🤣🤣🤣
lmao,. me too. was that the telephone scene. lmao
It was very satisfying lol
I like to imagine that was the 200th time in a row she called and he hung up on her
Best Winston moment was when he hang up after saying yes
I assume this is how John learn, the what i would like to call the "dead air phone call" to bad guys...
After Wick i like the hotel guy (the receptionist) the most, that dude was cool asf.
Watch Fringe. He makes for a great Director of Operations.
Siim Unah
@@RoTenken That's the only way I remember him.
The remote to his vault door is the best!!! 😂🤣☠️
Only one person to be happy for John's return was Charlie 😂
This is business!! 💰💸💸💰💰💰💸💸
For Charlie, more bodies equals more money.
8:10 The face this man makes when Winston says "The odds are about even." xDDD
Ian McShane's voice and the way he uses it is amazing
We need a compilation of Winston saying “Johnathan” while frowning
Course you will is such an iconic line.ian mcshane always elevates scenes
And thinking "Ah, well. There are too many assassins these days anyway"
Every house should have a well stocked safe room.
I love the fact he calls him Jonathan
jardani however the director says it Anjelica delivery is so calming.
Charlie has a pretty good gig. Everyone needs him so he's safe and he gets paid by both sides.
best freaking trilogy ever made..love john wick
When Winstons ringtone went off I literally thought it was mine🤣🤣
Most important scenes in all the franchise,is where Winston is "Working a Crossword Puzzle"
& "Looking at the Chess Board " in John Wick. 3.
1.Figure out the puzzle and look for the codes in conversations and speech
2.Know thy enemy on a chess board and see what moves are being made and be many steps ahead of your enemy.
Idc if they make 10 John wicks I’m watching all of em. Can’t wait for John Wick 5!
Rocket Boy what about John wick 4 though.
RUBYBROS yea I forgot it’s only 3 lmao. It feels like it’s 4
i cant wait for 4 after its announcement
It just makes you wonder how truly powerful he is. Why even the high table is in able to kill him.
There's something about winstons eyes you don't wanna trust.. But his games has many layers... Too many layers
5:16 The dialogue, "And away we go" from Winston. Dunno why, but this has been stuck in my head
😮
I've always had this notion about Winston...That before John left the underworld behind to be with his late wife, Winston was quietly nurturing his skills/talents/abilities and guiding his career from behind the scenes to teach him the complexities and nuisances of this world, to prepare him for day he would eventually succeed him taking over as Manager of the New York Continental. Plus, I have to believe that Winston himself in his youth was a fairly skilled and capable assassin in his own right, nowhere near John's level obviously.
Three great characterizations shown, John Wick, Winston and Charon
7:13 John never nods first to anyone. But he did nod first for winston. They both have high respect for each other.
for me the best part was how he just casually hang up on the High Council lol
His exposition dialogues are the best and I can listen to it all day.
0:58 1 of the best expositions in a movie
2:13 he meant adios to your life, lmao
my fav Winston line, "and we are New York City"
Man, Ian McShane's natural charisma and delivery makes Winston that much more cooler
Charon has earned his rest. RIP LANCE
Winston hanging the phone up on the adjudicator has got to be the funniest scene in this franchise, other than that double kick by that horse😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
“Hunt.”
After Patrick Stewart only Ian mcshane is the one for Charles Xavier.
His voice ❤️
"Nothing, you demand nothing of me Mr. D'Antonio, this kingdom is mine, and mine alone"
"....I'd say the odds about even." Ha I love that scene. States enough in itself about how much of a beast Wick is. Makes me think Winston has known him a long time...."And WE are New York City" true that.
Winston is so damn cool,,, what an amazing acting talent to play this suave character
I love how calm he is
Winston is the hand behind everything and he's using John to be the master of everything.
“We are high table”
“Lemme be the first to tell you nobody gives a fuck 😂”
I hope John knows Winston did that to protect him and give him a chance.
He was playing chess. She, from the high table, was playing checkers.
Sucks that Marcus died, imagine Winston pulling strings in his position of power. John doing what he does, with Marcus helping from behind the scenes off anyone’s radar. The trio would be unstoppable.
That smile when he see's him he's like old friend its good to see you again I missed having you around
Literally in the series Winston was my favorite character. Wick is cool too but Mcshane's actings and the performance was outstanding.
In JW3 when Charon and Wick fights back the high table, him chilling in the room playing Vivaldi's Winter was so fucking badass
Very well made character.
when seen in the context of the last scene of chapter 4, you can see that winston treats john like a son than an ally. so it is possible that he is his son or at least viewed him as a son.
The way he describe John Wick is awesome
For Winston, he puts strict rules on others immediately even Santino, but he spares his friend so many times
5:00 When you pick up the phone and hear in an indian accent: ''Good day sar, we are calling from Microsoft''
Winston and John are friends. They won't harm each other.
I love the theory that Winston is Johns father in law. I know it’s it’s only fan theory but damn does it give their relationship that extra layer of depth
From the very 1st movie I said this...Winston is John's Father...And I still believe that.
Na, that ballerina lady scene revealed john's real name, its something jardini. He was orphan and that lady raised and trained him. So not father. Father in law may be.
@@gauravkapoor111111 Revealing him to be a Belarussian Gypsy orphan.
When Winston tells Ms. Perkins "Your membership in the Continental is by thine own hand...revoked" that was ice cold even for Winston.
Winston's my favorite character. Acting is just great.
The Most badass and coolest character ever ❤
