Great video. I started my business part-time on the side while working junk removal full-time. A year later and I just went full-time pressure washing/soft washing. Thanks for helping to teach me the ways so I could get started. I took the How to Wash course, a little skeptical of buying an online course, but it was great. I took notes and made a little packet I could reference out in the field whenever I forgot something. You, Coty and Justin are all awesome, and doing great things for the community. ✌
I clean mostly barrel tile roofs and some shingle, A 6000 sqft house can be done in no time and use 20 gallons of SH and a 2000 sqft house can use of 30-35 gallons and take a lot longer. I don’t know why so I bring enough and figure my usage on the high side just in case for all jobs.
Thanks MikeV. Im just starting my business and of course starting off with my house roof softwash with my 5.5 gpm pump. Anyhow I never did this before and watched alot of videos. I can get 12% from my local pool supplier and was running a batch mix of about 5%. Damn that SH is potent smelling and I know if my neighbors were out doing yard work they would smell it. I also seen vids of guys wearing respirators and now I know why. Do you use any of those fruit smelling surfactants to help mask the awful chlorine smell?
Hi Mike!, I’m in the process of opening up a small roof cleaning division and I stumbled upon your videos. Just wanted to start by saying great content and advice. I’ve already went ahead and downloaded the Quote IQ app which looks like it’ll come in clutch. I have been looking for a more Organic way of doing this, I found a product called Wash Safe that is an all in one roof cleaner without non toxic chemicals. Are you familiar? I have also been considering doing the cleaning using a battery powered backpack sprayer, but after watching your video and realizing that may be ridiculous and time consuming m, I am looking for advice on a simple effective set up. Where can I find some of your information on proper Set Up and How To’s ?
Nice video, questions I bought 1 gallons of Sodium Hypochlorite of 12.5. My house is 1,500 square feet but I’m only doing one side of the roof. Should I used the whole gallon for just one side of the roof. I’m doing this my self so I bought a sprayer that hold 2 gallons of water. If I feel the sprayer with 2 gallons of water how much sodium hypochlorite should I add to it? Thank you.
I didn’t hear you mention the square footage, but it looks to be around 2,000 sf. Assuming you did the entire roof, and not just the front, I’ll guess 25-30 gallons of bleach. Wow. That house was bigger than I thought. Still pretty close on the bleach
35 gallon 😮 wow I'm very bad in math 😅 i thought like 4 to 5 gallon 🤣🤣🤣 of course I don't have the experience on washing roof 🤷🏾♂️ but wow Man thanks for the good info!!!
Hey there! How much for SH cost? $900+? I found one on Amazon: 5 gallons 12.5% cost $130... So, how much do you charge for this roof wash? Thanks in advance!
Can you clarify something for me, earlier in the video, you said 1 gallon of mix = 50 sq ft , the later in the video you said 1 gallon of mix = 5 sq ft, I assume it’s 50 sq ft and you mis spoke the second time, you also said 15 gallon = about 1000 sq ft but my math says that should be15 gallon of mix = 750 sq ft, no?
I’m surprised no one called you out on your math in the beginning of the video you said “rule of thumb one gallon of bleach to 50 square feet “. But in reality it’s more like one gallon per 100 square feet of roof. And by the way if your house is 3600 square feet the roof is bigger depending on its incline unless it is a flat roof. Just fyi. Thank you for the advice and video though it was helpful
Can I ask- what would you charge for this? I have just a basic pressure washer set up ( no large tanks, etc.) and I am looking at starting to downstream for house washing and what not. But this seems elevated. Is there a middle ground?
You don't want to pressure wash a roof. It can damage the roof and void the customers warranty. You "can" downstream using a fan tip but keep your distance. As for price, anytime you ask a pressure washer online what to charge, you will get the typical "figure out your expenses, how long it will take you to do the job, and then add however much profit you want to make onto that price and charge that" answer. What you can do when starting out is call around and get a few estimates for your own roof, or you can look up the national averages for pressure washing (they're on Google). They give you a range for each type of job. You can start out charging lower end of the range for whatever job and then keep upping your price until you find your sweet spot. Hope this helps point you in the right direction brother and good luck 👍
How are the Runco pumps? I’m looking at a used set up in my area. It has 27 gallon Remco punch all the stuff. Do you have an email? Can I send something to you pick your brain for second. I have no idea if it’s a good deal or not.

You wash a roof to remove the algae that is eating away at the components of the roof which prematurely ages it and deteriorates it. We don’t put pressure on, we use a soft wash system. If you watch the video you would see that. This is the process recommended by the asphalt, roofing manufacturers, association, and many insurance companies require homeowners to clean their roof or they will cancel their policies. If you don’t clean it, it prematurely ages.
Where in the hell do you get sodium at that price? I have been searching, and there is nothing in that price range. At one gallon all the way up to 55-gallon, 8 dollars and up for 12.5 SH gallon, then add in haze mat fees someone is lying somewhere on how cheap SH is to use.
L and H industrial in savannah, Ga we buy it in bulk, they pump it into our tanks, we usually get about 50 gallons to 80 gallons at a time. But their price is the same for 1 gallon or 200 gallons. Currently pay $2.60 per gallon

3600x .01= 36 gallons is easier than 3600 ÷50 = 72 ÷2 = 36
So just do SF x .01 when taking a 10% sh batch mixed to 5-6%
Thanks for thefacts. I’m not a soft Wash Guy, but I’m impressed regardless. I took a screenshot of this and maybe I’ll remember it one day

Don't try to use products like that - use what is recommended by the roofing manufacturers. Which is sodium hyperchlorite and water. Get a 12v pump
And all this info can be found on my channel

you’ll probably need more than that. Like 3-4 bottles for one side
Do you dilute the bleach or just pump it out of the container ?
It depends on the concentration and what you are cleaning and how dirty it is.
Enough to get the check! 🤪
But how big is the check?!
That’s for sure
