      He’s really locked in on the 1500m as he said he really has to win this and go for world record while he still has youthful speed then he will work his way up through the distances getting world records in every distance. You can see he has unfinished business in the 1500 as he is not ready to celebrate the 5000 yet as it’s not time for that. The current 5000 is just a consequence of 1500 training but he is not ready to show his best at 5000. Amazing guy.

      For one, Jakob's never commenting on anybody else's performance but his own, except from his brothers on a rare occasion, in addition to a subtle 'thumbs up' to BFF Stewie Mc.Swaine on SoMe every now and again. Secondly, I'm just rolling my eyes over how people claims to be all about honesty & truthfulness, for then to condemn it whenever it's not humble enough, or doesn't suit them in any other way. The truth in this matter is that Jakob not only has beaten Kerr every bloody time they've met, but has been standing out as the by far best 1500m runner this season. He recently achieved a new PB and WL at a low 3:27. I mean.. It is what it is, and when it's this obvious, it would be ridiculous if it wasn't acknowledged in some way.
      BUT.. There's also a 3rd factor that people outside of Norway isn't aware of: One word about Kerr's performance, and there would be no way of avoiding questions regarding the Norwegian bronze medalist and former training companion, Narve G. Nordås. To describe their relationship as cold, would be the understatement of the century after Narve decided to keep Jakob's father, Gjert Ingebrigtsen, as his coach after the fall-out between father & sons last year. - The relationship between the brothers, Jakob, Filip & Henrik on the one side, and Gjert & Narve on the other, has continued to sour ever since, for then to explode in conjunction to this championship.

    • @QueenGry
      @QueenGry Год назад +6

      @@anonymermax9432 *haha* In a way you can say that. Gjert's role as both father and coach took its toll on their relationship, and ended with them firing him as their coach in February 2022. The following spring, it was announced he'd be the coach of Narve. At this point we knew the conflict got deeper than just not seeing eye to eye what their athletic careers were concerned. But it didn't become clear how deep until Jakob said he had no intentions of either seeing- or talking to his dad during the World champ. last year. When Narve started the season by lowering his PB from 3:36 to 3:29 in just a couple of races, the plot thickened even more when Gjert didn't get trainer accreditation for Worlds. The Norwegian sports federation finally admitted it was because of the tension between father and son, and that they kind of prioritized Jakob's needs ahead of Narve after the two sides had been taking gaps at each other throughout the championship. Narve's bronze obviously boosted both his- and Gjert's position in the hierarchy. As Narve not only has passed both of Jakob's brothers this season, making him the 2nd fastest Norwegian 1500m runner, but also got to medal in the championship, proves Gjert's abilities as a coach also applies for runners others than his sons. The brothers on the other hand, already proved their ability to stand on their own two feet with the oldest, Henrik, in charge, last year.. - You get the picture, right?

At this point I think they would have figured out if racing "x" races in a certain amount of time is too much.

I can't agree with your analysis of his form completely Frank. The guy has ran 3m 27 for the 1500 so his speed and stamina are there in abundance. Part focusing on the 5,000 is killing his finishing kick in my opinion. If he wants to rule at 1500 he needs to drop the 5,000. And he needs to address the mental block issue in championship 1500's. The resigned look on his face when Kerr was running on his shoulder over the final 100 in the 1500 was not the look of a champion.
      The Olympics are next year and Ingebrigsten will have his hands full again over the 1500, and I tell you now that he won't win this. Nordas will be the big threat to him here. This guy finishes like a train, and if he develops a killer instinct and sees Ingebrigtsen as a rival and not a friend, then he is my tip for the title. This young man has a brilliant attitude and is a credit to his sport and country.

    He might or more likely might not have a virus but his whole attitude on the track after the races and during several interviews is disrespectful of the medals he got and of others competitors. During championships many athletes compete not being at 100% for various reasons and they don't whinge like him. His demeanor and narrative is not justified when you finish 1st and 2nd at the world championship and although I can understand his disappointment he does not have to be so unpleasant and disrespectful. Such a disappointment to realise how unlikeable that person is. Or is it this strong nasty virus that prevent you from congratulating Josh Kerr or pull a smile at his gold

      What? He has a virus. That's not up for debate at all. Doctors at the event reported it. He sounds sick, looks sick and was clearly more exhausted than normal both during and after that 5000m. And he's might be cancelling the rest of his season. You think the whole thing is one big act? Well give the man an Oscar then.
      As for Josh, I know you'd like Jakob to dedicate an 11 minute interview to your guy but that's not what the reporters asked about. He's just answering their questions. He gave Josh his credit after the 1500m but everyone knew something was off with him. And why should he pretend like he's healthy? Even Josh himself said something seemed off about Jakob!

      That's why he is one of the greatest ever. He hates to lose and that's why he was short with Kerr, thinking "you only won because I was sick". Nice guys don't win.

      Completely agree. He’s really unlikeable acting in this manner. I’ve never heard a top level athlete use illness as an excuse for not coming 1st. He needs to learn to be more humble & gracious in defeat, admit Kerr was much better on the day. ‘Illness’ or not. Plus lose the earrings they look Shit.
