The third place finisher is trying to pass, gritting her teeth yet getting nowhere. I'm reminded of the great Moroccan miler hicham el guerrouj who also ran so smoothly that when others tried to sprint past him he switched into another gear yet it wasn't really noticeable.

Emma and Courtney won medals by being better over the barriers than the Kenyans. The Kenyans need to learn to be better at clearing the barriers and water jump so that they don't fall behind as they did here. It's not enough any more just to be a fast runner on flat land. That being said Emma and Courtney flat out ran their asses off. Go USA!
This is just my opinion but IMO this is the biggest upset of Worlds this year!!! Not just Emma winning which could be the biggest upset in itself, but her and Courtney going 1-2 is the biggest upset for sure. And yeah I'm aware Bolt lost but he was no guarantee. The odds on Emma winning had to be low! Not cause she's not great but the 1/2 fastest of all time were in the race

Emerson douds yes that was outstanding and very unpredictable , Americans have gain a lot of terrain on this field lately ... it have been a strong and slowly progress and here is the result , now Africans will be preparing their races against the Americans , remember they plan ahead strategies even sacrificing men or women to get gold . look at what happened to mo Farah blocked by the Ethiopians ..
