I love how the history teacher was actually a cool dude. He didn't judge Dee on his appearance, but was more disappointed in his behavior. It was hilarious seeing how much that threw Glam off.
I just appreciated that Glam was ready to glitter-fy another classroom without hesitation, but stopped when the teacher seemed to have a valid concern.

You can tell glam wanted to check the chest but realized his son has the right to privacy. Already a thousand times better than his abusive dad.
And I love that Glam has that moment of "I swear to God child" but decides to not go back on his word. I love seeing moments where Glam could act out due to the abuse he suffered, and continue the abuse, but actively chooses not to. I also love how he needed a moment before saying "Ok", like he needed to calm down and make a better choice. It's so interesting seeing how much better Glam is than his father, but the show still shows us that healing from abuse and trauma isn't instant and you don't totally stop having moments where you could flip out, and you actively have to choose to be better.
we only see it from his perspective, that story had a very strong wibe of "unreliable narrator" I think we would get a very different story if we saw it from the perspective of his sister.

But it means that what we saw, wasn't necessarily what happened.
This is what glam remembers or believes, but it could be that his dad was a loving but strict father who occasionally gave him a spanking when he misbehaved, someone who may have given him a snide reply over not being #1 and someone who didn't really respect his privacy.
Meaning that from another perspective we might have seen a caring father trying to reign in an unruly child, and what glam was really hiding under the boards were not a model city (something completely innocent), but rather something really bad, like narcotics, alcohol and tobacco.
the unreliable narrator is an interesting tool, because we tend to believe the narrator in a story especially in a visual medium like a film, at face value where maybe we should doubt everything we see as they come from the perspective of a character.
An example of where this technique is used was in the sitcom "How I met your mother"
Ted is often seen as the loveable straight man centre of a group of friends who nevertheless often do kind of jerkish things. But the story at large are also told by future Ted, and thus he tend to put himself in a more positive light. There is a truth in there somewhere but we sometimes have to dig a little after it, and in the end only come out with theories (as it all happened many years ago)
One of the clearest example of this technique from the show was The Astray S08E17 where the same story is told three times.

Moreover, from the Russian version, they do not receive monetization due to copyright for music that they do not cover. This gives her its vibe. (I apologize if there are any mistakes, I use a translator from Russian to English)

I love how Victoria and Glam's parenting styles act as foils and checks for each-other, Victoria is a mama-bear that can easily become a strict, tough-love, helicopter parent, but Glam is a bit more laid back and understands that children should have self-expression due to personal experience and allowed some secrets within reason. But I can tell that his father has rubbed off on him with how he acted in the last minute of the episode, and that Dee reminds him of how he was as a teen.
But I just laughed so hard when the meeting happened it was a perfect way to start off the season just like how the last season kicked-off, I wonder if he will get called into a meeting because of his wife next.
Well, last time his wife went to school was probably the last time she will be ever invite to it.
Gustav clearly rubbed off him as seen in "Do You Play The Guitar?" and even after upsetting Dee Glam did not take back his words.
I love that Glam isn't perfect, and still has moments where he gets angry or frustrated. Usually the audience is shown either a parent that hasn't healed, and is horrible to their kids, or a completely healed person that is wonderful. Glam's behaviour is more realistic, and when he does have his moments, he apologises, or takes a moment to remember to do better.
It’s usually how it is my mom created the punishments and my father enforced them and ensured there was leeway for certain situations. For example if I was grounded from my phone but I was heading to school I’d take it to school then drop it off at home

Dee's really smart, but that's also part of his problem. He's bored with the world around him and craves some kind of stimulation, and right now that stimulation comes at the expense of people around him as he makes fun of them. One of these days, he's going to bite off more than he can chew.
Nah, that Isengard line was 100% hilarious, can't fault him for that. The biggest overstep was keeping the rat, though it remains to be seen how far he'll take his actions.
Super excited for this series, found out about it yesterday and I've binged the whole thing.
Yeah, the rat going to him wasn't a choice of his, and giving the scientist the middle finger by giving up the telling him when he was so rude about Dee just trying to fix things was understandable for a teen, but he dug his own grave by messing with that girl who'd clearly been getting a but of a crush. She was still in the wrong for ratting him out in her own right, but it was still in response to something he did of his own free will, no prompting at all. The keeping the rat...clearly he's compassionate enough to have not wanted it to meet the fate of the other rat, but when it came between breaking or keeping the rules of his parents home the deciding factor was the approval of a girl he's been trying to impress with other shallow stuff, like playing guitar.
It does seem like someone who goes toe to toe with adults (and often loses like with the poker game, but still feels confident enough to try) Is having a difficult time finding interest in a lot of things - he usually seems quite bored and unenthused, taking things slow and unhassled like he's not very invested. I think the most excited I've seen him is watching the footage of Vicky beating up the anti-smokers with Heavy.
So now he's focused on this girl he's in contact with bc it's something new and something he's actively working at, something challenging (puberty probably doesn't help), and in the meantime...he's a little mean to people he doesn't care about, like random classmates. I read somewhere that the creators said that the point of how Glam behaved in the guitar episode was to try and teach Dee what it's like to be on the other end of how he's liable to treat people who don't immediately get things that come easy to him as a gifted kid. The backpedalling when he gets too in Dees face has me thinking that there was some projecting there as well, but it overall seems like they're writing a very interesting character who's struggling with being bright enough to not have the same growing pains as regular teens and how it's still coming out as a form of acting out
It's shockingly grounded for a story that started with teachers cutting a kids hair and getting glitter bombed by the eerily smiling dad then beat up by the biker mom

He wants to be the smartest, and he'd be damned if he was going to let someone so "average" (as he sees it) best him in class. He wanted to humiliate her so she knew he was too good for her, and that's his issue. He needs to learn how to manage that better, or else he won't be able to make any meaningful connections with people (without hurting them, at least.)

Reminds me one of goofy sketchy bonus videos “what if…”, that authors were posting while season 2 was in progress. “What if members of MF lived in Harry Potter Universe”. Glam, as Hogwarts’s teacher, was quite good in magic, but as rational person just couldn’t believe it’s real and was gulping tons of anti hallucination pills all the time, poor lad :D

I think everyone’s ignoring that glam has a second aspect to his personality- yes he is understanding and definitely not choosing the path his father did- but he still discouraged dee from pursuing music, literally pushing onto him that he will never be good enough. And when he found out dee was hiding something from HIM and not Victoria he started digging around and his paranoia shows. I love glam but I feel like there’s a lot of unresolved trauma there and it’s causing him to display some traits his father did ^^
I always thought that was the point of the end scene between Glam and Dee at the end of the episode. I like to think that the guitar incident took place before the box 37 incident. Now that a boatload of painful memories has come flooding back, it's making Glam reevaluate his behavior, as we know self-improvement is important to him. Like, during the end scene, Glam is still being Glam, but we can really see Glam holding himself back from snapping over the rat thing.
It's not perfect, and it doesn't justify what came before, but it's a step in the right direction.
I don’t think Glam was specifically telling Dee not to pursue music, just that he’s not going to magically be good at music because his talents don’t lie in that skill set. It was harsh how he said it, but he was just telling him that he needed to practice

@@angelinak2605 It was harsh, which is why Glam apologized for being rough, but it wasn’t forcing him to quit, but just telling him that he should try harder (which is why he got the most brutal when Dee said he wanted to skip all the technicals and just learn songs)

A couple things:
1. I love how they called back to the first episode of season 1. Especially with Glams firework.
2. Does Glam knowing excellent medication for hallucinations imply he suffers from them? Can you have hallucinations from childhood abuse?
3. I'm very curious to see how Glam is gonna handle Dee's rat when he finds it. It seems like this season is gonna be Glam struggling to not make the same mistakes as his father with his own children.
I might have some answers for you regarding your second question. You don't really get hallucinations from child abuse per say, child abuse normally causes some sort of mental illness, the likely of which being BPD and DID, it's also possible he could have a genetic mental illness like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or major depressive disorder. I know people with BPD AND MDD can have pychosis and people with paranoid schizophrenia have hallucinations. I'mnot sure about the other illnesses but hallucinations is certainly possible with these. Or he could just be very in tune with medicine since he and Dee both seem to know a lot about many things. He could've possibly learned it for a friend or for his family incase a person may need it.
Just a bit sad that Vikki and Heavy are at the moment underused.
They had an interesting dynamic settling itself in the episode at the bar.

It’s a little odd that Glam was searching Dee’s room, seeing how that was something that happened to him back when he was a teen in his awful former household, *but* it’s probably pretty fair in this situation to want to know if his son actually has been bringing a rat to school and pretending the teacher was hallucinating.
Especially considering the seemingly firm rule of "NO PETS" and how the teacher wasn't spitting out complete nonsense it does make sense for Glam to want to at least investigate

Maybe it’s not so much of the rat itself, but Dee lying. In my house, lying is a big no-no. Like you’d get more in trouble for that than anything you’ve done.
Many times adults adapt their parents behavior as it is the only thing they known as a child. Glam is already doing better but some things and old habits stay and without some behav therapy it's really hard
@@majagrabowska568 That is very true, as we could see in the guitar episode where he began acting like his own father, and even quoted him verbatim, saying "shaming yourself, shaming me?"
You can see that he is trying to be better than his own father, and he is. But we are all human, and humans tend to fall back into old habits. We act in the way that is most normal to us, that we grew up with. And for Glam, he grew up being degraded and beaten by his father. He grew up with so much violence and coldness, that it's hard for him not to act out on his instincts.
Now it's the dilemma of "will he fall in his father's footsteps and repeat the same mistakes?" or, "will he break the cycle of generational trauma and become better for himself and his children?"
And I hope for the sake of himself and his family, that he will make the right decision, no matter how hard it is.

The past is catching up to Glam. He does not want to repeat the same mistakes of his father, but he is showing some similarities. This plot line has potential and can be resolved in many different ways. I can't wait!
Yep, and also Victoria being a loving but rude mother doesn't quite help. I assume we may see them fight over how to approach the childrens' upbringing and Glam's struggle to not become the man he resented while growing up.

I like how Glam handled the secret rat situation. He probably fully knew Dee had one, but also trusted Dee to rehome the rat instead of making him develop a complex like his own father did.
I love this series greatly for all the complexities it contains and how it addresses difficult subjects surrounding parents and their kids.
You can tell glam is not really LOOKING through deeds room cause he used to hide things incredibly well so if he was actually looking the locked box in plain sight would’ve been his first target

Glam is the levelheadedness (to a degree) this family needs. Victoria would definetly overworked with these two.
I'm really happy that the 2 season is already out. I noticed that the creators didn't do customized lip sync especially for this episode, maybe they wont do it for the whole season. But there's nothing wrong with it, I think it's even better cause the creators have now more free time to make next episodes. Hopefully this season will come out as great as the first, maybe even better. Congrats to everyone for this special moment of hystory!
plus the voice acting is not 100% in English, I hope this will not happen again and English fandom will be able to at least listen to 100% English voice acting (F for replacing music)
I think part of it is also that they didnt really try matching the syllables as a lot of other dubbed shows do, at least not for the extra characters

It has some elements of change. As the talking does sync up better than if it was to be subbed straight over the Russian. This is also why they have to take such a while. As they do need to reanimate frames. So yes they have synced it but not as much as last time possibly. Either that their sync is not always perfect as their first language like mine is Russian. So it won’t always be same exact movements as real English speech. I enjoy watching the English dub too aswel as Russian

I've seen many RUclips shorts about this series but I never knew the actual name of it but now that I'm watching it I really enjoy it
This episode definitely sets up for a lot of potential storylines for this season! Glam is going to have quite the struggle between being a responsible parent and not becoming the overbearing abuser his own father was. Dee is an interesting character as well. His relationship with Glam seems strained despite how similar they can be in intellect, with each handling situations in different ways. In the scene at school with the Diane girl, I wonder if maybe they have a history of disagreements, or he was just being a jerk when he set her up for embarrassment. I'm only wondering because we never see any moments prior to this in the episode where he and Diane even interact with each other. His teacher seems to respect and think highly of him. But the one moment when Dee is in trouble for a legitimate fault, he tries to pin the blame on the teacher. We have seen a kinder side of him in previous episodes, such as protecting his brother from a bully and covering for his mom when she beat down a couple of guys who confronted her about her smoking. And he clearly has vulnerabily and insecurities in how he is trying to impress someone online.
Anywho, sorry for the long comment.
I guess I'm just saying that I'm excited to see the developing complexity of both Glam and Dee, while also enjoying the fun simplicity of Heavy and Victoria!
