- Nürburgring Nordschleife BTG on a 1996 Toyota MR2 3SGE - 29/04/2021
My last lap of the afternoon. A bit of a mess at Hedwigshöhe after a big oil spill compromised the section for almost the entire afternoon.
Car specs:
Complete polyurethane bushings kit
Camber bolts (~2.5° front ~3.5° rear)
Stainless steel brake lines
Endless CC-Rg brake pads
Toyo T1R
Stock rims and tires size - Авто/Мото
nice! you’re living my dream haha
i know your pain mine still has a 5SFE in it so slow!
Thanks for sharing your lap!
Great driving man :)
We want more! 😊
That was a good lap.
With a 3SGTE Gen3 and your skills you would have much more fun.
Thanks! I'm swapping a 1MZ VVT-i over the winter together with different suspensions and tyres. It should be fast enough then! :D
That's also a good choice 👌
💚
ah yes... full throttle in fourth up a hill and no change in RPM. I know the pain. Hopeully my new engine will do better!
Yes in some point it really feels slow :/ but I'm also going to fit a new engine :D I have a 1MZ in the storage, almost ready to go on the car
I have the 3sge motor and love it! Where do you get your tuning parts? I'm having trouble finding header and exhaust parts
For the engine I didn't do much, only maintenance, but you can find many tuning parts on RHD Japan.
Nice driving. What transmission do you have in it?
Thank you! The car has the stock S54 with european 3.9 final drive.
Good driving. Is it a NA?
Thank you! Yes, it's the 175hp version.
Uuff very fast 😆
😂 not really. The car like it is now can make between 8:55 and 9:00 BTG without making it risky but going as fast as you can. Taking some chances it can probably do an 8:50. The gearbox unfortunately doesn't help, it has long gears and final drive that don't combine nicely with the restricted power range of the engine. There is no big torque/power at mid range and sometimes the car is pretty slow going out of a corner.
Great driving but would strongly recommend wearing a helmet and using proper harnesses.
Thank you! 😃 I know it's important to wear an helmet so a bucket seat is the next step because, unfortunately, currently I don't fit in the car with the helmet on.
Actually for such an old car a full cage would be needed to have real safety but I'm still not sure about the future of the car so maybe I'll not go that far.
@@TMRDAM If you ever decide to sell your MR2 shoot me a message please, been looking to buy one for a while. Thanks and nice lap!
Swapped the engine yet?
Not yet :( I had to wait a package with parts for 2 months (stuck at the customs) and in the meanwhile put some budget in another project so for this Ring season there will be no swap. But the car is anyway receiving coilovers, semis and a bucket seat with 4 points belts :)
@@TMRDAM nice, I’m searching for an mr2 as a project (probably swap an na to the 3s gte)
