Oldenburg and Van Bruggen, a duo so bright, their soft sculptures bring the mundane to light, from a spoon to a tie, their art makes time fly, a testament to their creative might. Interesting video essay, thanks.
You had to be quick with those erasers, before the ink dried. And even after erasing, the impression of the letters is still in the page. The eraser is a wheel; your mistakes will never end.
Thanks. Honestly I'm surprised it has the reach it does. There is a lot to watch out there and I'm amazed anytime some chooses to spend their time with me. Thank you for the kind words
Hamburger is German. It means a person from Hamburg or something Hamburg style. Here the meat is called Frikadellen (south Germany) or Bouletten (north Gernany). And it is eaten in between a bread roll, which is sliced open, usually with mustard spread over the meat. The only real difference is that the American version was as ketchup and mayonnaise, and sometimes pickles. Just like the word frankfurter, pertains to someone or something from Frankfurt. It also means the special frankfurter style sausage. Wiener is a type of sausage that comes from Vienna (Wien), Austria. Guten Appetit!
Ok, Aristotle, but hasn't the IDEA of a hamburger become - in James' parlance - another form of signification? I'd say we own it now, this symbol of American capitalism and (obscene) consumptionism
Hiya, hmm I think too much credence has been assigned to these soft objects. Makers can make any object larger than life.. so what? Seens to me, in this case, a meaning is only added after the fact attempting to make it more than it actually is which leads me to think that the object was made without any intentional meaningful meaning. Leaving it to the theory thinkers. They don't entice me at all and too much in pushing to a meaning in order to connect to these objects to humanity is simply not worth it, to me anyway. I enjoyed the theory all the same😊 I do think the Eraser is well made and more intriguing to those who never saw one before. Just my thoughts, which might change 😂

@@jeffjones6951 that’s true, American capitalism and consumptionism is destroying the planet slowly.
the entire history of its signification makes the burger tired
Absolutely excellent breakdown of ideas and what art can do for us, how it can challenge us. Bravo!
Thanks!
Loved it! Thanks for talking about this.
I'm willing to bet I've got one or two of those in a can in the shop.
I look forward to purchasing an Amor Sciendi "The cake is not discursively neutral" T-shirt 🤞🙏😁
Hahaha that's a fantastic idea
Sorry, but what IS the scupture at 2:06? Green-crusted pizza? Carrot on steroids?
Ice cream cone
