    How much is the Crown going to ask of these incredibly brave Guards and horse Troopers before they take hold of the situation and do something to protect them?? It's 'obvious to me, and many others, that the horses are fed up with being touched by ignorant rude tourists. This isn't a petting zoo. It's an active military installation and should be treated with respect. The fact that people are allowed to swarm the place is a privilege. I think the guards and horses have been patient long enough!

      @@JerriBridges Sorry - but that’s not true. The British Monarch is ‘Head of State’ for some fourteen other countries and ‘Protected Territories’, still! As a ‘Republican’ ( anti- Monarchy’ Brit.), I wish your observation were true - but the reality is that the Monarch holds several ‘unelected’ political powers - including the right to peruse and challenge all newly proposed Parliamentary ‘Bills’ - in case any part of those might, potentially, impact adversely one or more of his huge land-holdings or other properties 😱!
      Such challenges were made, successfully, on many occasions by Queen Elizabeth the 2nd. all to protect the enormous wealth and privilege of the British Monarch! ( the current Prince of Wales, via his vast ‘Duchy of Cornwall’ property ( owned across several English counties) enables him to have an absolute right to any commercially valuable minerals found beneath the soil within the ‘Duchy!’ As the former owner of a Cornish granite stone house, aged 300 years, I was amazed to read, on the ‘freehold’ property deeds that the then Prince Charles would be entitled to any tin, copper, gold ( all mined, previously, close by) discovered under my garden…😳!
      Very fortunately, no such minerals were ever found - despite my having been a very keen gardener throughout my time as a ‘Cornish property’ owner…😋!
      The British Monarch also retains the right to funds arising from any properties/monies, within his ‘Duchy of Lancaster’ land-holdings, whose owners have died ‘intestate’ ( so without having written a Will)! The families of such individuals have no legal right to challenge that, very clearly, incredibly unfair law!
      The link between ‘Church and State’ ( deemed illegal, now, in most modern democracies) continues in the UK - despite the ‘Church of England’ no longer being the one dominant religion! In fact, increasingly, many more of us are now choosing the term ‘Atheist’ to describe ourselves ( as shown in the most recent British ‘Census’ returns! Yet, because of the British Monarch’s continuing link with the ‘C of E’ , we have approx. eighty unelected Bishops sitting in our unelected ‘House of Lords’ - wielding enormous unelected power on behalf of their now ‘minority’ faith! There is no such equivalent representative unelected grouping, in the Upper Chamber of Parliament for any other religious faith - nor on behalf of us atheists ( despite our rising numbers within the UK)!
      So, as you see, the ‘Crown’ is, most definitely, no joke! It wields huge, virtually unacknowledged, unelected power, throughout our country - and beyond!
      For those of us who believe that we Brits. should hold a referendum on the future of this unelected ‘Head of State’ role, we would certainly not claim that the UK is a democratic nation!
      BTW; I still love our military events/celebrations/ ceremonies, however! I grew up in a British military family, immersed in knowledge of my country’s recent and historical history. The reality is that, should we ever have a democratically elected President, the military celebrations etc. would continue and foreign tourists would continue to visit ‘Horse-Guards’ and other key historically significant locations!
      France, Germany, Greece and Portugal certainly do not suffer from a lack of tourism, despite no longer being Monarchies, after all - and, neither of course, does the USA…!

    It's a few, but some visitors treat the mounts as stage props, and are utterly clueless about real live horses - and these mounts are unusually large, and not trained as pets. They are chosen to be imposing and - if necessary - intimidating. People always seem shocked when their larking-about gets a come-uppance. Generally, children are understandably more cautious, and sometimes it's their silly parents who encourage them closer.

      Having ridden a horse daily with my younger brother on backsaddle, I'm well aware how easily a horse can be spooked. Since my dad had me on a horse when I was just a toddler we were both confident that at 9 yrs I could handle it. He was a lot more confident than I was lol. But I cannot imagine as a parent leaving my child close to a large strange horse simply because anything...a loud, unfamiliar noise, weird people standing nearby, or just not feeling good because of too many oats or treats at breakfast is causing a tender tummy. TT, sometimes referred to as being colicky is not perceptible visually and requires a vet's attention. Thus, the unpredictability when a horse might spook. We call it "shying" here in wonderful Wyoming, and it can quickly result in bucking and head tossing. Horses cannot vomit, so they will easily become withdrawn and suffer silently or pitch a fit trying to ease the discomfort. Would you really want your child next to a giant horse who is having "an off day?" No child is safe on those days or any other day for that matter. Don't be silly, just don't take the risk.

    The horses are not trying to be mean , they are work so have duties . A child is safe around an animal this large if they are thought right from the start. I have been riding horses this size and larger my whole lifetime fe. Started riding when I was 3 and now 53. Gentle Giants doing a job!!

    Why allow a child so close? Horses, while gentle mostly, can cause serious damage.

    Most of the so called tourists act like they haven't any common sense what so ever. Rocks are more intelligent than most of them. They need to stop touching the horses. Als they act like they think they're modeling for GQ.

    Did you know horses can hear a human heartbeat from up to four feet away? They can sense the emotions, intentions, and vibrations of the people around them. All this stimulation to a normal horse might cause them to run, but these well-trained, magnificent animals are truly something to behold.
    It saddens me to see them in this situation for hours on end. 💔

    If you have ever ridden a horse and tried having them stand for any length of time without the distractions of busy crowds, constant chatter, people walking by poking at your horse, protesters, traffic noises, children running up to you, people tugging at your reins and possibly ALL of those things occurring multiple times in the span of 10 minutes; you would have a healthy respect for what these guards do.

    Why are there STILL no barriers to stop the public.

    • @cathyb46
      @cathyb46 6 месяцев назад +3

      Because sometimes the horses play up and come out of the box. They have to have somewhere to go. Unfortunately some tourists are too stupid to move and laugh. They won't be if a horse kicks them.

    • @TheLadyT23
      @TheLadyT23 6 месяцев назад

      Surely they could put barriers behind the posts that are there. The horses and guards are so patient, considering the muppets who approach them!@@cathyb46

    • @NadoriKaija
      @NadoriKaija 6 месяцев назад +3

      If there IS a barrier it needs to be markings on the ground, not a physical barrier. On top of what Cathy said, they are there to do a JOB, and though rare, there may come a time for them to perform their FULL duty and go into full action suddenly. Barriers would trip them up or slow their reaction time....not like the public isn't doing a good job of that already.

    Some of these ppl act like they have never seen a horse before. They dont care how this horse feels. You can tell the horse is uncomfortable there. Ppl barging at him, taking pictures, comeing from all directions. Then you got the different smells mixing with all of them and top it off with car exhaust. Then they all wanna touch him when he clearly is irritated and not wanting to be touched. Id try to bite them to if i was him. Poor baby, some humans are disgusting
