Saw the Hip 17 times in my day. Own two set lists from Gordie. Pretty much cried the entire day leading up to the show. It’s been said in these comments before but when they closed with ABAC I was like hmmmm, that’s a pretty basic closing song but I realized this...the last lyrics he ever sang was “disappointing you is getting me down” it was as if he was apologizing and that shattered my heart even more. No Canadian will ever forget that night, and I’ll never forget the man and what he meant to me. Canada day doesn’t feel the same anymore because I can’t go to a hip show with the boys. He WAS Canada. As for the Americans in this comment section, I appreciate the love and respect but you’ll never actually know what the hip meant to us.
Co-sign from a Rochesterian who discovered them when I went to college in Buffalo in 96 Gord will forever be one of my all time favorite musical artists No dress rehearsal...
I've always loved this song. However, I didn't know he was a five star hero in Canada. Myself, being from Belgium, that might not surprise you... RIP "mate"...
Still not over the loss. Can’t imagine I ever will be over it. He wrote the lyrics to my Canadian life. He raised awareness for Indigenous injustice with such grace. What would he have said today about BLM? I have a guess however I wish I could hear it from him.
Needed this today to help me say goodbye to the loss of my own dreams and delusions. Thank you so much, Gord and the Hip and their people. Saying goodbye to what you love needs a hymn, and this is it.
This man was a musical genius with incredible heart behind everything that he accomplished. Gord you will be missed for a very long time. Peace and Luv Brother.
there is no other band like The Tragically Hip I love their music and I always will and thank you Gord Downie for writing all those incredible lyrics and stories I've seen you live about 12 times I am going to miss all the different styles that you guys put out on stage
I logged in to comment exactly the same thing. I have been a fan of the band since the late 90's when i discovered their music through a section on a BMX video (the song played was An Inch An Hour). I bought the album Day For Night just from hearing this one song (no internet back then!) and just fell in love with their sound. It's such honest music. I think we can all take something from this. Showing that you love someone, be it male or female, shouldn't be so pigeonholed. Gord showing his love for his bandmates is something we should all learn from and in my opinion there needs to be more of this in the world. RIP Gord...sorely missed.
@@DJNee I'm not a huge Hip fan by any measure, but I definitely dig the vibe and camaraderie they inspire amongst Canadians. Since Skynyrd died, Americans really don't have such a band to get behind. I do really love Bobcagaeon and ABAC though, excellent tunes.
"I miss you already, I miss you all day" EV Gordon you've been a shining light throughout my life. I remember when I first found the Canadian station 102.1 on my radio dial in the early 90s growing up in Buffalo NY. I recall liking the diversity of the music and the hard bluesy rock of this one band I was hearing more and more of. The Tragically Hip. I bought fully and completely within weeks. Not long after Day for Night was released and I thought they were going to take over the world. I don't think they ever wanted to take anything over rather they just wanted to inhabit the fuck outta a time and place. Which they did. Gloriously. I was lucky enough to see the Tragically Hip perform live twice in N.Y. at a couple arena sized shows which they blew the doors off. I hope you had the chance to see that as well. My favorite shows though were when I saw them living in Phoenix Arizona. They certainly don't have the fan base out here that they have in Canada or even in Western New York where I grew up but the smaller Clubs and venues I would see them in would be packed with only die-hard fans. Gordon and the band would play just as if they were playing an arena. Their Passion live was amazing and Gordon's Passion in the lyrics on the recordings of those Studio albums is unmatched. He truly was a poet. When trouble at the henhouse was released a freind and I headed down to old lakeshore drive popped it into the car stereo and cruised. It was a perfect album at the perfect time yet still it was ahead by a century. I'm going to miss this band.
Can't believe he's gone. Seen them here in Tucson Az. 3 different times in three bars. Very limited people. super close right in front of them each time. I didn't know how lucky I was in the mid nineties
Seriously, WTF !?! I would love to meet the fuck who down voted this or any Hip song! 4REALZ!

+dank mctavish Must be people who know nothing about the late *Gord Downie* and the band. They just don't have an appreciation for the emotional magnitude captured by this video.
Love. Glad you're not here to see the current state of the world. Although im sure your family would rather have you here. Makes my comment insensitive. Well, then God bless all
The sound on this is just awful. Like I was at the back of the show and the sound person just gave up on the project. Thank you so very much for this version. I owe you one of something. Rest in Peace Gord. And thank you .
I had Fully Completely and later bought Trouble at the Henhouse and I was hooked. I only got to see them twice but, wow, I love this band. Rob is such an amazing, fluent player and doesn't get nearly the recognition he deserves. They are so missed. 💜🩷
By far the greatest Canadian musician of all time. They need to put this man on a coin.
By far? He’s definitely one of the best but you can’t forget Leonard Cohen
Rush ?!!!
We can’t forget any of them. Their all the greatest. Forever in our hearts.
@@red149 I love rush but the hip had such a huge impact on my life, they’re the best Canadian band to me . From London Ontario Canada
Gordon Lightfoot, anyone?
Sloan?

Thank you, Canada, for sharing The Hip with us. Signed, A Buffalonian who grew up with this legend’s music.
Also from a Pittsburgher (Yinzer) who loved The Hip.
And an equally grateful Detroiter.
Co-sign from a Rochesterian who discovered them when I went to college in Buffalo in 96
Gord will forever be one of my all time favorite musical artists
No dress rehearsal...
Today is July 8th 2024 and this American fan still misses you, Man Who Walks Among the Stars.
"And disappointing you is gettin' me down."
Second meaning: "I'm sorry that this is our last concert ever."
That's deep bro 😢
Idk if your spirit is reading this with another fan watching on their phone. Thank you Gord! Thanks Tragically Hip for the music!
This song became my favourite song of all time after this farewell. How appropriate and fitting they ended it with this song. Beautiful just beautiful
It was the one time that an entire nation sang in unison. RIP Gordie you will never be forgotten
I can come back to this over and over again, never gets old, beautiful stuff. RiP Gordie/
How can you watch this and not cry. You can’t !!!! He will be missed
rick bradley makes me break down each time. Such raw emotion in his last performance
Amanda I agree
he WAS ahead by a century. rip gord.
I'll miss you Gord, you defined my country and my generation. I'll see you down the road sometime, okay?
I might not be from your or Gords country, but i miss him too.....
Wow, the way he walked the front row and committing each face to memory. Wow.

A textbook lesson in exiting gracefully and with beauty. Fuck cancer. Just fuck cancer straight to hell.

given his condition it's amazing he ever pulled that tour off
Very emotional indeed!
It’s still and will always be such a terrible terrible loss. 💔
Would have liked to look him in the eye and say goodbye. Lost a legend and a poet
i could watch this a million times oop i have dam i love this kids !!!!
I cannot watch any of that last concert without weeping. See you on the other side, Gord ❤
This man needs a movie… my son is a script writer and would be the perfect person to do it
Aaa you were ahead by a century Gord...I hope to catch up with you sometime. My deep condolences to your band and your family. Penelope
Gord Downie kisses his buddies on the lips who does that I think it's awesome May The Tragically Hip be in our hearts forever

Hes dying, and at that point you don't care about embarrassing yourself and just want your pals to know you love them.

Benjamin Harsch buffalo has always loved Gord. Its a shame the last tour didnt stop here
This reminds me of the episode of House where him and Amber are on the bus, like if you just keep playing it doesn’t have to end 😕
This is our life.
rip Gord
I watched the documentary on Netflix about this. It was amazing.
I miss this so much :'(

Losing Gord the way we did made me question the existence of a benevolent God.
Gord is the greatest Canadian.
